As someone who has researched the myth of Boudicca and her daughters, seeing this extract pop up on NetGalley imediatly intrigued me. Although its brief at eight pages, I enjoyed how the narrative highlighted the dangerous, dirty, and tiring aspects of the rebellion.
However, the characterisation of the daughters felt underdeveloped and overly reliant on clichés. Given how little is historically known about them beyond their tragic fate, I’m curious to see where their story truly begins in the full novel and how themes of sexual assualt and abuse will be handled.

The way this extract has me feral, I don't know how I'm going to survive before the book releases, I already live elodie's book but this, this one right here TOPS it all and I haven't even read the whole book yet.

This extract is very intriguing! I am obsessed with Boudicca and so I am very interested to see where this story will go. I enjoyed the extract and will pick up the finished book.

I didn't realise this was an extract when I requested it so was a little surprised but I cannot wait to read the full novel. The extract certainly makes you want to read more. I really like Elodie Harpers books and this will be one I will be excited to read.

This could only be more perfect if it was the full novel! I can’t wait to read the rest of the book and have a lot of confidence that Elodie Harper will be able to deliver a nuanced and well rounded portrayal of Boudicca.

PERFECT!!!! ELODIE HARPER YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN. I need the whole book ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait.

Elodie Harper, give me more IMMEDIATELY. She could write a shopping list and I would gobble it up in one greedy little mouthful.

I loved the idea of an excerpt, so thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I’ve yet to read Elodie Harper, but have seen how popular an author she is, so I was excited to read this.
Within these eight pages, we get a sense that Boudicca’s Daughter will be a brutal, testing story that focuses on strong females in the 1st century.
Harper’s writing style was quick to draw me in, and the extract flew by too quickly. I’m certainly now eyeing up the full book.

Thank you netgalley for this excerpt. 8 pages long but I was gripped! I’ll totally picked this up went it releases!

I loved the Wolf Den trilogy so I cannot wait for Boudicca’s daughter to be released this summer. When I saw the extract from the book, I knew I needed a sneak peek. It looks like Elodie is going to do it again with this book. In just a short extract, I am already invested and wish I could keep on reading now!

While it is a bit hard to give proper feedback from a short extract - Elodie Harper is such a skilled author that even in the short pages we were able to read, it is clear how impactful this book will be! Harper is so skilled with words - able to paint such vibrant images in the reader's mind and creating stories that leave us breathless and on the edge of our seats. I really enjoyed The Wolf Den by Harper and I know that the author's strong imagery and impeccable storytelling will shine in this book as well. Excited to read the full thing!

Having read, and enjoyed, this author’s previous books which were set in Pompeii and Ancient Rome I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to read an extract from Boudicca’s Daughter which is expected to be published in August 2025. There’s a definite fascination to be had in learning more about the woman who was able to call Boudicca mother and this short extract from chapter thirteen of the book introduces us to Boudicca’s daughter, Solina.
I liked what I read, it’s descriptive, atmospheric and I’m sure if the rest of the story is as good then Elodie Harper will have another best selling historical novel to her credit. This is definitely a book to look forward to reading over summer

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the short extract.
Already from just a few pages I’ve read Elodie is giving us yet another powerful story following Boudicca’s Daughter. I got a sense of a great depth of the history, the relationships between characters and most of all the sisterhood that I think we can expect in this thrilling bew release!

Wonderful glimpse into Harper’s next novel, it has got me really excited about what’s to come. I can’t wait to read it!

Just a short extract but certainly enough to have me eager to read more of this book when it is published in August! Brilliantly descriptive and compelling writing, this historical fiction draws the reader in with themes of power, survival and family from the outset.
#BoudiccasDaughter #NetGalley.

Very much enjoyed the ‘Boudicca’s Daughter’ extract and looking forward to reading the complete novel soon. Every reader who has enjoyed the Wolf Den trilogy will know that Elodie Harper has a remarkable gift for conjuring characters from the past with whom we can connect today. Her historical research is meticulous and those of us who now have a vivid understanding of Roman life in Pompeii through her most recent novels will soon be submerged in both Iceni Britain and Nero’s Roman Empire. Exciting prospect!
My thanks to NetGalley and Head of Zeus for this extract in exchange for a fair review.

This short extract from Elodie Harper's new historical fiction novel Boudicca's Daughter is written with passion, and is a gripping read. It's a famous historical episode, a tale often told - but the author goes in at full tilt, headlong, to put their own stamp on the material, and I admired that fearless approach which felt apt.
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this advance extract.

I can't wait to read the complete book. I loved Elodie Harper's Wolf's Den trilogy, and am so looking forward to sinking my teeth into this.

To say I need more is an understatement. I wish this was the full book, this little extract had me so intrigued. From the short amount here, I know I’m going to love this book and that Elodie Harper’s writing will be just as entrancing like it was in The Wolf Den Trilogy.

Elodie Harper’s evocative writing once again shines through in this sampler of her latest novel Boudicca’s Daughter, which is sure to be a triumph. A must-read for fans of historical fiction. I can’t wait to read the whole thing!
Thank you to Head of Zeus and NetGalley for access to this sampler.
