I grew up in Norfolk and learnt a lot about Boudicca in history lessons so was very excited to see Elodie Harper announce this book. I enjoyed this extract and wanted to keep on reading. It was gripping and if the rest of the book is as good, can see it being a favourite. Excited for the release!

It was a bit stiff, lots of very short sentences that stated exactly what was happening and what the characters felt about it. But certainly intriguing, I thought Boudicca's speech was quite good, so perhaps the prose loosens up later on. Gorgeous cover.

LOVE this! Can’t wait to read the full novel. Everything Elodie Harper writes is rich, atmospheric and has strong characterisation. Love it!

I've not read any of Elodie Harpers writing yet. It's had to give a view on just an 8 page preview however what I will say is - I'm picking up the wolfs den this week!

Oh my goodness please can we have the whole book now. This extract completely captivated me, drew me in and left me counting down the minutes until the book is realised. I haven’t read any of Eloidie books before but I will be now

I think Elodie Harper could write a shopping list and I'd want to read more from the very first item on the list! This extract from Boudicca was only 8 pages long but as with the Wolf Den series, I was instantly gripped and drawn back in time. Incredible characterisation and historical research set out so accessibly. I was already excited for Boudicca's release and am now even more so. Roll on August!

The extract is very short, and it would only be fair to evaluate the writing, atmosphere and some of the themes in such an excerpt.
Told by the POV of Boudicca, these pages show a strong POV, writing style and an interesting dynamic between Boudicca and Bellenia.
Very atmospheric and visual.

I loved reading this extract (even if I wished it were longer!), i’ve always been fascinated by Boudicca’s story and i think her daughter’s pov offers quite an original perspective on the life of this legendary woman!
From just a few pages, we immediately understand that the stakes are high, that the original plans might have gone to dust and that there’s a complex relationship between the two sisters, I can’t wait to read more!

It is a bit hard to judge a whole book when you have only a few pages from the random chapter to read. But based on that, I think it will be a very interesting read.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read this extract.

I feel my review of this novel will not be up to my usual standard as the extract was too small a sample to write anything meaningful. However, Boudicca's Daughter seems to be written with the same carefully crafted beauty and intrigue as her other books, the exceptionally small extract provided for review was certainly captivating. The book, based on an amazing and much-loved historical figure, definitely holds promise.

The one chapter extract I was lucky enough to read from this novel due to be published in August shows that the book promises to be a superb historical read about what Britain was like at the time of Boudicca and her daughter and how the famous mother inspired her daughter. It brought to life the arrival of Boudicca into London after she defeated Rome’s Ninth Legion beautifully. Looking forward to picking it up in its entirety in due course.

I was lucky enough to read an extract of this highly anticipated book!
And wow! Eight pages and I was hooked! The detail, the atmosphere and the tension. In just eight pages you understood how dire things are, what risks are being taken and how uncomfortable the main character is.
I cannot wait for this book in August!

This extract of Boudicca’s Daughter includes chapter 13 which was an unusual choice, all other extracts I’ve read via NetGalley have been the first 1 or 2 chapters. I think this was a good choice as the glimpse we get into the story is in the thick of the action. The main character’s and her sister are at odds over their mother’s orders and role in the war, and even in a handful on pages it is obvious they have both been deeply impacted by their circumstances but they have chosen to respond differently. This tells me there is a lot of tension between the sisters (and maybe the mother as well) in this book which excites me to read it. Nothing stands out as groundbreaking about the writing but I have nothing negative to say on that front either. I’ll definitely keep an eye out come release!

This extract was wonderful! I cannot wait to see what Roman Britain has in store for us!!! Britannica perhaps?

I really like the premise and I feel this feminine heroine deserves her story to be told. In the extract, I felt I got more emotion from the horses than the speaker herself but can’t wait to see how this develops in the rest of the novel, as she goes through the many conflicts I imagine she will. My rating is reflective of the fact that I’ve only read this extract, but I would love the opportunity to review the entire novel.

I had already pre-ordered Boudicca's Daughter so was very excited to read this extract which has only succeeded in making me even more excited for the release of Boudicca's Daughter. It's quite an achievement to have people so invested in a story in 8 pages but that is exactly what Elodie Harper has done here with her vivid and immersive writing.

This review relates only to Chapter 13 which I was sent as an extract. On the basis of this chapter I would say that Boudicca's Daughter is going to have many of the hallmarks of Elodie Harper's Pompeii Trilogy, i.e strong female characters and a well researched insight into the historical period. I look forward to reading the whole book. I am rating 4 at the moment as it is only based on the one chapter.

This small extract was interesting to read. I would like to read the book.
I find this period of history fascinating and would be interested to read more.
It is difficult to review a tiny extract and to have to follow the rules for a full book.

Thanks to Netgalley, Head of Zeus, and Elodie Harper for letting me have access to the extract for Boudicca's Daughter by Elodie Harper.

I was really excited when I saw the extract up for grabs on Netgalley.
I absolutely LOVED Elodie's Wolf Den trilogy. I'm beyond excited for Boudicca's Daughter, even more so now that I've read the sample.

Elodie has a beautifully descriptive writing style that draws you right in.
Solina seems like an interesting and strong character, much like Amara from The Wolf Den trilogy.
I enjoyed the teaser, I didn't want it to end. Now I'll be waiting very impatiently for the release date, or hopefully the chance of the full book on Netgalley. 🤞
