Parents nightmare! A missing child from a school function when you’re there. I was filled with dread as a mum of two. As a parent you need eyes in the back of your head sometimes but at a social function with parents and teachers around, you’d assume you can relax slightly but Silence Of The Lambs taught what happens when you assume anything…
As Elizabeth frantically tries to find her daughter Hollie, people start to question where the young girl is. Elizabeth gets caught in a web of lies and whoever has Hollie is the spider waiting to pounce. But Elizabeth is hiding something from me. I couldn’t fathom out what to start with but the snippets started to pain’t an outline for me.
Kirk planted a seed late on in my mind which made me question what I’d read. Maybe it wasn’t Kirk, maybe I’ve read too many psych-thriller but I couldn’t dig out that seed, it was well and truly planted and starting to sprout.
I flew through My Daughter Is Missing. If Kirk’s other novels are as compelling, he’s got himself a new fan. Loved it!

With thanks to the publisher for the copy received. This is the first book I have read by this author so I didn’t really know what to expect. I have some catching up to do. The drama starts almost immediately when Hollie, the daughter of Elizabeth goes missing after an event at the school. Understandably there is panic and confusion, especially so when it is evident that Elizabeth is hiding something, preferring to admit that she is mistaken rather than involve the police. Definitely not a usual response. Her life then descends into chaos, desperate to find Hollie, with some thoroughly unlikeable characters including a totally crazy sister, Sasha, and the knowledge that she was running out of time.
Elizabeth was a difficult character to understand, I struggled with her decision to protect herself by not involving the police. It was only when I got further into the novel that this became clearer, and by then the dead body count had increased. Whilst there is evidence of violence throughout, unusually the reader just sees the aftermath not the actual event. This is a first for me and I thought it worked well.
The ending of this novel completely floored me, so much so I had to reread the last three chapters the day after. I’m still not convinced I have read it correctly but it was very clever.

A fast-paced thriller written in a easy to read style. When Elizabeth's daughter 9 year old Hollie goes missing at a school function, Elizabeth doesn't go to the police for help; the reasons why not becoming clear as the story progresses. She undertakes the search herself and in the process revisits all of the events leading up to the kidnapping. As the layers of deception are pulled away we come to understand Elizabeth's inner life and questionable past. I didn't particularly like her, but she is one fierce mother who stops at nothing to get her beloved daughter returned.
Concisely written, this was a fast read which lovers of JD Kirk's fiction will enjoy.

I requested this title because I enjoyed the authors DCI Logan series but this book for me was truly awful. I would have given up but felt I had given up on too many books recently so soldiered on to the end.
The premise was good, a daughter missing from a school social but then it all went down hill for me. A mother who wouldn’t tell anyone her daughter had been taken, a supposed evil twin sister that would help her find her daughter. One sensational chapter after another that were quite frankly ott. Sorry to the fans but I have read some excellent books lately and this wasn’t one of them.
#MyDaughterIsMissing. #Netgalley

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy of My Daughter is Missing by JD Kirk
A different story to the Logan Series which I love but when you see the authors name you know you are in for one sitting roller-coaster.
Elisabeths daughter has gone missing from a school event, even though she was dressed as a butterfly and Elisabeth was in the foyer.
Hollie is gone and her mothers life is falling apart.
She can't tell anyone especially not the police. She is on her own, but she will find her daughter, whatever it takes.

JD Kirk’s My Daughter is Missing is a tightly woven psychological thriller that grips from the very first page and doesn’t let go. What begins as a heartbreaking story about a missing girl quickly spirals into something far more complex and sinister, with twists that keep the reader constantly off balance.
Kirk masterfully builds suspense throughout, layering the plot with revelations that are both shocking and deeply satisfying. The pacing is impeccable—each chapter intensifies the tension, and the emotional stakes are high, pulling the reader in deeper as the truth slowly unravels. Just when you think you have it figured out, the story takes a turn you never saw coming.
Dark, twisted, and utterly compelling, My Daughter is Missing is a standout thriller that will leave readers stunned—and unable to put it down. Kirk proves once again that he’s a master of suspense and emotional storytelling.

I really enjoyed JD Kirk books Logan Hoon & Filson and was looking forward to this. The premise sounded promising however this book was just not for me. I couldn't relate to the characters and didn't really like them. Parts of the book did pull me in but then I lost focus. It was an interesting concept and parts of the story was good. Overall it was an okay read but not a story that will stay with me. I listened to it also on audio book and found the narration good.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers and author for allowing me an arc in exchange for an honest opinion.

Elizabeth’s little girl, Hollie, is missing from school, and she can’t tell the police. The shock of Hollie’s disappearance without a trace truly shakes Elizabeth, but there’s a bigger threat at play. Elizabeth has a secret, and she knows it’s behind Hollie’s abduction.
Elizabeth is torn between anger at herself and the school officials for not keeping a closer eye on her daughter. Regardless, she knows that chaos is about to break loose, and she’ll do anything to find Hollie. Panic has set in, but she knows she must remain calm and strategic.
If you’re looking for a book that will keep you guessing from the very beginning, J.D. Kirk’s latest book is the one for you. While it wasn’t difficult to imagine Elizabeth’s fears, the fact that the entire situation stemmed from her secret made this a truly intriguing read.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

JD Kirk's My Daughter Is Missing audiobook is a taut and emotionally charged thriller that grabs you from the very first line. The sheer panic of a parent realizing their child is gone is immediately palpable, amplified by the narrator's urgent tone. The protagonist's desperate search for nine-year-old Hollie and the subsequent chilling realization that she can't involve the police creates an immediate and compelling hook.
Kirk masterfully builds suspense by layering in the protagonist's mysterious past. The refusal to contact the authorities, coupled with the gut feeling that Hollie has been taken and that it's connected to long-buried secrets, raises a multitude of questions and keeps the listener on edge. The audiobook format intensifies the feeling of isolation and desperation as the protagonist grapples with this terrifying situation alone.
The internal conflict of a parent torn between their love for their child and the need to protect a hidden past is powerfully conveyed. The listener is drawn into the protagonist's frantic race against time, sharing their fear and determination to bring Hollie home at any cost.
My Daughter Is Missing is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that explores the lengths a parent will go to protect their child and the devastating consequences of a past that refuses to stay hidden. Kirk delivers a fast-paced and emotionally resonant story that will keep you listening intently until the final, heart-stopping conclusion.

First I want to thank JD Kirk, Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.
DANG!! Buckle your seatbelts because JD Kirk is going to take you for a rollercoaster of a ride in My Daughter is Missing!! His story is incredibly fast paced, addictive, binge readable, totally twisted, and had me kept asking what in the world happened to Hollie!!
My Daughter is Missing grabbed my interest pretty quickly with JD’s gripping prologue. After that I was hooked on the book and stayed up till wee hours of the night to finish it.
This base storyline is everyone's mother's worst nightmare come true in having your young daughter go missing at a school event!! I could totally feel all the feelings she was going through at the time! I may not have kids but I would feel the same way if someone did that to my niece or nephew.
However, this was not your average missing child case! There were some pretty dark hidden secrets that Rebecca was hiding that needed to be kept hidden and for good reasons too. So, it made the book more interesting to read for her to take matters into her own hand to find her daughter before anyone else did!
There were so many shocking moments that I didn't see coming at all! JD had me guessing up until the very end of it!!

A mother's worst nightmare - her 9-year-old daughter is missing, and she cannot report it to authorities due to her own secrets. This is a dark, twisty and tense thriller from a new-to-me author. Gripping read!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!

It’s every parent’s worst nightmare when Elizabeth’s nine-year-old daughter Hollie goes missing from a Halloween school dance. Elizabeth is desperate to find her little girl, but she has so many things to hide that she doesn’t call the police and lies to her partner Clive. The only one who can help her is her sister Sasha, who has her ways of convincing people to tell her what she wants to know.
This tense, fast-paced psychological thriller has short chapters that will have you racing through the pages. The writing style is direct and flows easily, with an occasional undercurrent of snarky dark humor to break up the tension. If you’re into missing child thrillers with a potentially unreliable narrator with a secret past, this one might be for you!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.

DNF - What is even going on!!! At 3hrs in I've hacked enough. Unbelievable and just ridiculous not to talk of unlikeable characters. No real backstory and not much happening. Not for me...

Such a well paced and suspenseful book! The twists were believable and not predictable.
It had excellent writing and a fascinating plot.
My Daughter Is Missing by JD Kirk is a book which kept me thoroughly engaged from beginning to end.

It starts off with a panic, very gripping and tense with so many emotions. Great twists throughout the book. Ultimately, it ends with revenge and success. Good, quick read!
My only complaints are how did she end up with Hollie as a child? Maybe I spaced off with those details. Also, Hollie is 9, so not sure why the cover shows small, young child in a baby swing.

Elizabeth goes to the school disco with daughter Hollie. When it is home time Elizabeth realises that Hollie has gone missing. With secrets from the past, she is unable to contact the police and realises she is on her own. Will she find her daughter or does someone know the truth?
Having read one book by J.D. Kirk previously and hearing a lot of great things about his police procedurals, I was looking forward to reading this psychological thriller standalone. I was interested in the storyline almost straight away and keen to see where it would go. I enjoyed the easy writing style and the flow of the story.
I wasn’t too keen on the characters and found Elizabeth frustrating at times. There were some interesting twists, however I became slightly confused with the ending, it didn’t seem to fully fit and I found I wasn’t as interested as I was at the start. Even though I had a few niggles, for the most part this was an enjoyable read and great for those looking for a dark, clever thriller. I’d read more psychological thrillers (and police procedurals) by this author. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy in return for an honest review.

This is a great psychological thriller.
Elizabeth is helping at a school party and can see her daughter in the hall having a good time. However, when it comes to home time, Hollie is nowhere to be found.
Elizabeth frantically searches for her but soon has to accept that someone has taken her.
When she arrives home her partner questions where Hollie is but as Elizabeth is hiding quite a lot from him, she adds another lie to the list and says she’s staying with a friend.
It’s not clear at first why Elizabeth can’t go to the Police but there’s a hint that something major happened in her past.
Her twin sister Sasha is trying to work out where Hollis is too but it’s soon clear she’s not afraid to kill people, to get the answers she wants.
I really enjoyed this book but would’ve liked more clarification around some aspects towards the end of the book.
Thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

This was a very addictive read that had me gripped right away, as the secrets are discovered I found myself needing to know the truth before I could put it down!

Amazing book! Started a little slow, didn't give a lot of back story. Was easy to follow along with though. Brilliant plot twist, which I did guess what was going to happen, but that didn't make me enjoy the story any less. Thanks Netgalley and Bookouture for letting me read this book for an honest review.

I requested this book as JD Kirk is one of my favourite authors. Whilst this isn’t a Jack Logan book it’s still written with the same strength and well written chapters. There is a very sweet nod to one of his other character in this book that made me smile.
I guessed one of the twists , but not another which was very well written into the storyline.
Whilst I don’t think this is as strong as his other books I read it in 3 days, and will definitely read any other standalone books that he writes.
