Another great book from this author. Characters are well described and developed. A thought provoking story that makes you think - "What would you do " This is a book I would have no problem recommending
Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read this ARC in return for an honest review

Disclaimer: This review is not meant to put down the author. Every book resonates differently with readers, and this one just wasn't for me.
Every once in a while, I come across a book that leaves me wondering why I just put myself through that. Unfortunately, My Daughter’s Silence is one of them. What promised to be a gripping mother-daughter thriller set against the backdrop of an elite school mystery turned out to be one of the most tedious reading experiences I’ve had in a while.
Let’s start with the pacing. It was painfully slow. The book drags through endless descriptions of poverty and internal monologues, with barely any real action. The mother and daughter barely communicate, and instead of tension building through dialogue or meaningful moments, we get page after page of repetitive thoughts. By the halfway mark, I found myself skimming, just trying to get to something that would justify the 60 chapters of nothingness. Spoiler: Nothing did.
The plot itself was all over the place with no clear direction. Instead of a carefully woven mystery, it felt like the story was meandering with no real sense of urgency. And the ending was disappointing. It lacked impact, leaving me wondering why I had invested all that time in the first place.
But the biggest missed opportunity was the daughter’s mental state. This should have been the emotional core of the book, the thing that gave it depth. Instead, it was rushed through, never fully explored, and we’re left without truly understanding or caring about her struggles.
At its core, My Daughter’s Silence had potential. There was something there that could have worked. But between the slow pacing, lack of emotion, repetitive storytelling, and an underwhelming conclusion, it felt unfinished and, frankly, frustrating. If you’re looking for a thriller that keeps you on edge, this isn’t it. However, if you go in expecting a slow-burn mother-daughter story rather than a thriller, it might be worth a read. Just don’t expect high stakes or heart-racing moments.

A common storyline ,well written. The relationships between the characters were well developed and ineresting.

DO NOT START THIS UNTIL YOU CLEAR YOUR SCHEDULES AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!!!!… I absolutely LOVED… Perfect read to lift your spirits and keep you hooked… Will keep you up late at night

Another brilliant book from this author who always writes such good books.
The storyline was well written with interesting characters, sad in parts but it held my interest from the beginning until the end.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this great ARC which I can thoroughly recommend.

This book was great and shows how fragile the teenage psyche can be and how far a mother will go to protect her children. I cried a few times and gasped a few times. I think the addition of the SnapChat part of things was so great because it also shows how easily impressionable teenagers are and how the moral compass can get so skewed based on how parents act and what is seen on social media.

I really enjoyed this book by Caroline Finnerty as I always do. The story revolves around a mother and daughter’s often fraught relationship.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from Netgalley. This was an enjoyable read. Although I was not keen on the main character, the story was engaging and well-paced. I didn't enjoy this book as much as Finnerty's previous novel, but I would still be keen to read more by this author.

My first by the author but it won't be my last as I thought this book was fantastic, I couldn't put it down. It was really well written and i loved the emotion that was portrayed in the book it had my heart in my throat a few times whilst reading

I really enjoy books by this author and this book was no exception. The relationship between Ali, a single mum and her daughter Charlotte is put to the test and several thought provoking twists throughout the book. It’s fast paced and you can feel the emotion between mother and daughter and the difficult situations they face but it is all brought to a great conclusion . Highly recommend.

What a story! "My Daughters Silence" is a book about single mum Ali and daughter Charlotte. Ali just wants what's best for her daughter so when opportunity knock for Charlotte to attend a prestigious school she pushes her daughter to take it. But to what consequence? And what is Ali hiding? You'll have to read the book to find out! The book had me on the edge of my seat, I was on an emotional rollercoaster from being happy to crying silent tears. Another 5 star book by Caroline!

This is a well written and thought provoking novel that made me wonder what I would do in the same situation. As a mother to a teenage girl I really had to think how I would react and it’’s written in a realistic and moving style. I really enjoyed it and it certainly made me think.

This book was an enjoyable read. It was fast paced and filled with a good mixture of mystery and suspense. The characters were well developed with a good storyline. This is a book which I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
