Really enjoyed this one. I work in oncology and the way that family/Molly were handling the cancer diagnosis definitely felt real. Would definitely recommend this one

A solid 3.5 stars, rounded up. This is solid (and slightly stodgy women's fiction. It's got a point to make, and it makes it in a moving way. It's bit repetitive and lacks a certain spark, probably because there wasn't a lot of suspense in the secrets. Or maybe it's because the world is written really well, but you can see the edges (for example Scottie's husband and her son appear to be NPCs).
The ending is rushed. Since that is the most moving part of this book, it felt like the author was on a deadline.
Mainly the most interesting themes (to me) in this book were not the ones that were explored. The end of life choices were a fascinating topic that was not addressed at all really. Despite this, it was a pleasant enoughway to spend my reading time.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, who gave me an eArc in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you so much to Pacific Peaks Pubishing and NetGalley for the arc.

This was a heartfelt read about the complexities of sisterhood and family relationships. When one sister is in trouble, the other two must come together to be there for her. They set off on a road trip with their two dogs and have a journey filled with surprises. They learn about the roles they each played in protecting each other and surviving through their parents’ turbulent divorce. I loved the way this made the reader and the sisters consider what was truly important, especially in the wake of tragedy. I was grateful to read an arc!

Heartfelt, raw, and beautifully written, Roadside Sisters is a moving journey of reconciliation, love, and the complicated bonds of sisterhood._

Catherine Matthews masterfully captures the emotional terrain of three estranged sisters on a road trip that’s as much about healing old wounds as it is about reaching their destination. Through sharp dialogue, tender flashbacks, and unflinching honesty, the story explores how deep-seated pain and long-held secrets can erode even the strongest familial ties—but also how vulnerability and forgiveness can rebuild them.

With moments of laugh-out-loud humor woven between gut-punch revelations, this novel is both deeply affecting and refreshingly real. _Roadside Sisters_ reminds us that while we can’t rewrite the past, we can choose how we move forward—and sometimes, the journey back to each other starts with simply getting in the car.

A beautiful, bittersweet read that lingers long after the final page.

I just finished Roadside Sisters by Catherine Matthew. This book dives right into the complex relationship between three sisters, and it beautifully captures the push and pull of sisterhood, secrets, and the bond that ties them all together.

Matthews does an amazing job of exploring how relationships between sisters can get layered with events and, of course, secrets. Each sister has her own unique voice and personality, which makes the story feel so real. It’s fascinating to see how their lives intertwine, and how the weight of their secrets can build up a wall or bring them closer together.

What I loved about this book is how it hits you in the feels—sometimes it’s heartwarming, other times it’s absolutely heartbreaking. The pacing is pretty good, keeping you hooked without feeling rushed. The interactions between the sisters are so well-written, capturing both the love and the tension that can exist within families.

Overall, Roadside Sisters is a beautifully crafted story that highlights the complexity of sisterly bonds and the impact of secrets. It's the kind of book that stays with you long after you've turned the last page.

this is a book that will have you with that "gulp" from emotion. its so good. its so warm but at the same time heartbreaking. it revolves around love though. so much so that the tale in between is all the more important and heart wrenching. i could relate to it in so many way. not the story of course but just the decisions we make and the ones we dont. the things that you can forgive when you love someone without a second glance. and all the things that hit harder and too hard when its from those you love.
love is something that has the strength to do absolutely everything for a person and to a person.
and reading these three sisters story held so much of all that in its pages.
Molly is ill. and when she asks a favor from her two sisters they agree. but along the way past traumas and issues come to light. and things surface that could threaten to break them. they are forced to confront things and decide what can be forgiven or moved past. i know this book sounds like it has so much darker or sad moments but its not. its not in so many other ways. because the heart and raw love you can feel from these three is just beautiful to read. so its an emotional one, but with those deep and connective moments that only stories of true love can bring. and its made all the more essential and desperate by one of our sisters being so ill. there is a time limit. a desperate sense for all things between them to be ok is fed through the book and to the reader who is just as desperate in the end for the three to be ok. to have found eachother again.
this is such a moving book. i want to read more from this author immediately.

Tender and heartfelt the relationship between the sisters is complicated but deep down inside their is plenty of love. I laughed and cried. The story is deeply emotional with more layers to dig through than you expect. It's a honest and sincere story that played on my mind and heart.
