One of the hardest things about reading a new book is having to wait for the next one. This has twists, turns, and a rollercoaster of emotions! I laughed and i cried. This absolutely beautiful magical world of fantasy with a little closed door romance is unlike anything I've read before. Highly recommend to EVERYBODY!
Don't forget.

The Storyteller from Balincia by S.W. Kent is a masterpiece! I rated it 5 stars because I couldn't put it down for a second. I totally recommend everyone to read this book as fast as they can because it's really good and the characters are fantastic.

Although this started slow, once it gained momentum it was fantastic! The world-building was dynamic and felt natural, the magical element was really interesting, and all the characters were well-written, with fascinating dynamics between them. I absolutely adored Birk from the outset and I really liked the romantic relationship with Grey. Although it did happen quickly, I didn't mind because both characters were really interesting and I liked them both from the start.

Actual rating: 3.5/5 stars.
I feel conflicted over my review and rating and thoughts for this book.
On the one hand, it's immediate insta-love, slower pacing, and soft fantasy vibes did not combine well for my personal preferences. The romance was so fast it left me feeling almost nothing towards the moments and feelings shared between the couple. That, mixed with the soft fantasy/lower-stakes vibes meant I didn't really get emotionally drawn into the story. Add on the slower pacing, and it had my mind wandering quite often and struggling to remain focused on the story.
BUT. The creativity, acceptance, and wonder stitched into this story were so magnificent. Such vibrant and imaginative world-building really brought the Where of it all to life. The inclusiveness throughout this world was so heart-warming and loving, I couldn't help but wish for more. And this book gave me something I always desperately want more of, and that's queer romances at the forefront of full on fantasy novels. On top of that, this world Kent created is so rich with immaculate lore, it was incredible. It had it's own folktales and festivals and history and foods, and that's what I always want from my fantasy books. I also rrreeaalllly loved the themes it touched on and the discussion of "are you really doing the right thing, keeping people safe, if you're manipulating them and taking away their choices?" There was a lot of philosophical questions that I appreciated being discussed.
All of that being said, I truly think this could be such a wonderful read for those who enjoy a softer fantasy and slower pace, and aren't befuddled by romantic feelings being instantaneous.
