my word if we were all the same silly billy as in school. some of us more than others. some very much bag eggs. but most will just be silly billys. and this book takes us to two people who were hurt in high school. or should i say Julia was hurt in high school. and by the boy that was Carson. and as per common some high school boys are awful little critters. and that pain can be just as real and just as hard. and so when Julia grows up and finds herself faced with him it doesnt not make a happy time for her. not least because her mother happens to be marrying his dad! great. just great. and not only that but they have both been told they need to work together to plan said wedding. great. just great.
what i liked about Carlson was if judging by this guy now then wow, what a guy! and i know you can always get over the past person. but he owned it totally and completely owned it in front of Julia too. i thought that was the best thing this book could have done for this pair. there was no boy will be boy or get over it kind of thing. it was real, it was acknowledging.
because boy was i rooting for this pair. hook line and sinker in Belize i was for these two.
and what a place to stage a book. it felt vibrant and fresh and drew me in to the sight, sounds, music and food.
this pair got me good for this book. they seemed just so grown up. so working together. so had me in my toes kind of good feelings.
great book. super characters.

Destination Weddings And Other Disasters is the second in M.C. Vaughan’s mini series- Belize Dreams. This is an Mills & Boon Afterglow novel, aimed at the under 35 year old reader with lots of spice and a diverse storyline as the characters find their best lives.
Michelle and Jim live in LA and are currently planning their wedding (Michelle is on her 4th). Carson Miller, Jim’s son, after a serious car accident which destroyed his sports career, runs a successful events planning business whilst Julia Stone, Michelle’s daughter is currently living in NYC after attending graduate school to study working in the hotel industry. Carson bullied Julia mercilessly during high school and she has gone out of her way to avoid him since their parents started dated, after all with 4 million men in LA how could her mum meet/date her high school nemesis’s father? She finally has to meet him and is surprised that he is truly sorry for everything he put her through in school. They establish a working relationship in order to plan their parents’ wedding and travel to Belize to ensure all is ready for the nuptials in 2 weeks time.
As the heat of Belize gets hotter the chemistry between the pair increases. They visit waterfalls, have great meld with Julia’s sister and her fiancé but will their relationship survive the wedding?
This novel was readable but not memorable and I wouldn’t rush to read the other books in the series. The storyline isn’t particularly spicy/ raunchy in fact it is quite tame in comparison to some of the M&B Modern novels I have read. The characters seemed nice individuals who learned and appreciated that they had made mistakes in their youth and wanted to fix them, I liked the secondary storyline of their parents and Carson “s father panicking that Michelle was too good for him, so the book isn’t a total flop it just doesn’t really fit into the Afterglow criteria apart from the fact they get their HEA which happens in all romance novels.

I loved this book. I wasn’t too sure to start with as I was rather bored with the enemies to lovers plots but once I’d decided to stick with it I really enjoyed it and would recommend particularly as a holiday read or a wet weekend. It will certainly add colour to the occasion! I really recommend this book.

Loved this book! I’ve been in a reading slump recently and this helped to pull me out of it! I love the enemies to lovers trope, and the gorgeous setting helped too! Lovely holiday read. Carson had a great character development!

This is a romance with feisty characters, from the main protagonists to the siblings, parents and friends who pop in. There are so many relationships that are unpacked strongly - from sisters, mother and daughter as well as the central romance of teenage tutor and arrogant jock. The dual voice is helpful to see different sides of the unfolding drama, and the beautiful backdrop, weather and plant life help the whole plot. Who wouldn't want a life that included canoeing for your job? A great, fun read that isn't a normal take on meeting the person who was nasty to you at school.

Sorry but I couldn’t get into this. Enemies to lovers is a difficult trope - and I don’t think this was well executed. I didn’t like the heroine and I felt there was nothing original here. ,

I have been in a bit of a reading slump recently (every readers nightmare!) so I thought a light rom com would help me out of it, and boy it did!
I loved Julia and Carson, at first I was doubtful of the Carson because of their history together, but he definitely turned it around. She was such a strong, confident female lead which was refreshing, she knew what she wanted from the start to the end.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a light (steamy in parts) read with laugh out loud moments.
I look forward to reading other books from this author.
Thank you NetGally for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
