Love previous Melissa Hill books and loved this one also. The two main characters were great- although felt like knocking their heads at times. Guessed d twist but loved waiting for it to unwind

A great read, the story of Hannah and Ward. I liked how the story was told from both points of view, and also through the notes sent to each other.

This is a very, very slow burn read across many aspects so if you enjoy slow burn you might enjoy this.
Loved the setting of New York.

great leading characters with flaws to keep them real and a lovely storyline (although the twist was for me blindingly obvious from very early on) with plenty of romance. nothing not to like.

How lovely it was to be reading a new Melissa Hill book, I haven't spotted a new release of hers in a long while and I've always been a fan.
This was a highly enjoyable rom-com set in New York. Hannah has just moved back to New York, after her stint in LA went a bit wrong, and she is now building up a new client list in the big Apple. And one of the people she now needs to do PR work for is Wildcat Ward.
Ward is an ice-hockey player who needs a bit of a new image, or he may get dropped from the team, once he is recovered from his recent injury.
From the first meeting between Hannah and Ward I was intrigued. There was just something about them that was really funny, clumsy and amusing to read about.
I loved getting to know Ward and all the characters in this book.
I really enjoyed reading this story.
Thank you to HQ and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

this was SO heartwarming and fun!! the NYC setting is something that i gravitate to, and this story was overall so enjoyable for me!!

Only in New York by Melissa Hill is a light enemies to lovers romance set in the heart of NYC. Hannah, a PR expert with a fresh start, moves into a luxury apartment and finds herself working with grumpy, injured sports star Wade, who also happens to be her mysterious neighbor. While the premise had potential and the idea of exchanging notes was a sweet touch, the story didn’t fully land for me. I liked the side characters,Shelly, Bruno, and Johnny added charm, but I struggled to connect with the main characters.
Wade’s “nice guys finish last” attitude felt more bitter than broody, and I didn’t feel the chemistry between him and Hannah. Hannah’s character also felt a bit forgettable, and I wished she pushed back more.
Though it wasn’t the right fit for me, fans of slow burn romance with New York flair and a touch of mystery might still enjoy it.

I loved this trip to New York and the scenery comes alive in your head due to the excellent writing. A rom-com in the world's most romantic city, I loved it!

This book is a brilliant romance, bringing everything you'd expect from a book like this.
It is also an incredible love letter to loving a city, in this case New York and showcasing it as almost its own character which I thoroughly enjoyed!
I love the idea of the so called 'invisible string theory' which could mean that you were always going to meet xyz person and you might've run into them years prior only to fall in love later on, I think it's such a heartwarming and endearing concept. Along with throwing in the idea of miscommunication but done in a really clever way of exposing each others feelings and emotions initially only to them realise who the other is, which I would class as mis-communicated but in a well done and sweet way.
All in all, this book was such a sweet, emotional read and a reccomendation for a cozy meet cute with characters who make you want to reach out and comfort them.

This was a cute romance set in the big apple. Hannah works for a large PR firm and after splitting up with her boyfriend, seeks a transfer from the sunny west coast to New York. She’s kindly offered the chance to house sit in an apartment by Courtney, one of the influencers her company represents, but she’s warned about the grumpy neighbour across the hall. And it seems like balancing a new set of clients and dealing with an angry neighbour isn’t easy, especially when she is attracted to one of her clients. I enjoyed this book. The characters were strong and believable and the plot unfolded well. Thank you to NetGalley, HQ and the author for the chance to review.

I enjoyed this book! Definitely on the lighter end of a summer read, with the grumpy/sunshine romance that works so well. The characters were well written and the story kept me interested. Thank you!

WARD??? That's his name... Why did he say ''Shes easy on the eye''. No, just no. That's not an acceptable compliment.
I want to write something positive about this book, but I can't. I just can't. The best part for me was the beginning of the story. When every was settling into place. After that? Well... I can't say feelings were the same.
Everything seemed as forced and awkward as their conversations. For example : she broke free from his embrace, quickly standing back. ''I can't'' (his reply) ''Can't, or won't?''
I'm sorry, but I cringed. Then she says that shes been hurt before and is still hurting. He really apologising like everything was his fault when it wasn't.
While I know some people loved this story, it really isn't something I enjoyed (personally).
Thank you Netgalley and the author for the ARC👄🗯️☎️

This is a. Heartwarming and funny enemies-to-lovers romance set in the heart of New York City. The story follows LA publicist Hannah, who is eager to leave her heartbreak behind and start fresh. When a celebrity client offers her a luxury penthouse apartment in NYC, she jumps at the chance. However, her new life proves more complicated than expected—balancing a demanding job, a troublesome yet attractive client, and a grumpy neighbor who seems determined to scare her off.
This was refreshing, fun, easy read that is perfect for a holiday read.

this was such a clever and fun book that had me both smiling and giggling in parts all the way through.
hannah our main character was such an endearing soul and i love her knowledge of the her job.
Hannah hasnt been having the best of times of late. so having moved to her job New York offices she also finds herself in a lush apartment whilst her client is out the country. there is the small query of her grumpy neighbor but she can deal with him. she is used to dealing with tricky. and talking of that seems to be who shes also assigned to with work... someone tricky. enter a bad boy, seemingly in the papers for all the wrong reason NFL player. he needs some good PR to clean up his image. enter our Hannah. and she knows just how to make this happen.
the New York setting Melissa created for me felt really real and i love her description of both people and places right down to the coffee shop and some of the delicious items of food there!
Hannah and Ward were so good together and i looked forward to each of their interactions. especially the dog shelter moments which ended even better than a soft hearted soul like myself could have imagined.
the growing chemistry between them felt nice and natural. but it was really well put in to the plot how cautious Hannah obvious was especially with what had happened to her previously. but as they slowly opened up to eachother it was clear this was very different. very real. perhaps something very very good.
and there is an extra little twist that made this book another star higher for me. because you might wonder where all the character mentioned in the blurb are featured. but oh you just wait. its even better if i dont spoil it at all for you.

Two neighbours who’ve never met? PR guru Hannah is hired to improve an injured basketball legend’s image. Wildcat McKenzie has been badly injured and isn’t keen on having a woman following him around.
Hannah has recently moved to a friend’s swanky pad in central New York. She discovers her neighbour never goes out, so sends him little gifts to cheer him up but never meets him. The twist is easy to guess but it’s a fun read.

This is a grumpy/sunshine hockey romance. Wade is in recovery for an injury, and is known for his bad reputation in the media. In steps Hannah, PR guru, who’s recently moved to New York and is staying in a clients flat. Also? They’re neighbours but don’t know it yet.
I’ll state the minor thinks I enjoyed first. I likes the side characters, Shelly was lovely, Bruno was a gem, Johnny was cool. I also appreciated how Hannah went about her job. I like when the FMC is quite established in her job, this isn’t her first rodeo you know? I also love notes in a book. I just enjoy the passing back and forth, it’s different and just quite sweet.
Unfortunately none of that made me truly enjoy this book. I think I got put off at the start and it couldnt make a recovery for me. Wade mentions at one point that he doesn’t see the point in trying to have the media see him not as a bad guy, because he’s a good guy in private and it’s never done him any good?? Like what kind of “nice guys finish last” mentality is that? I understand the grumpy part. But people can be grumpy without being assholes. The MMC was really just mean at times and I just feel like he didn’t grow enough truly for it to be a turn.
The FMC, for me, is a bit of a forgettable character. Nothing stood out to me really. She wanted to do better for him which is great, but whenever he pushed back a bit she let it slide and gave up. Like you’re helping him! Not the other way around. I appreciate that he got better with her and it is a slow burn, I just didn’t get the chemistry.
Overall, this wasn’t the right fit for me. But from seeing other reviews, it’s clear that some people do love it, and I’m sure it’ll find its audience.

Loved! A classic enemies to lovers romance, this got me out of a reading slump! Hannah was such a likeable character and I liked how her story unfolded, a bit is sports romance thrown in too! Loved it

Wow a great read from Melissa Hill. Can’t believe it’s 13 years since I read Something from Tiffany’s.
Our lead Hannah has had her heart broken and relocates to the Big Apple to save her career and heal her broken heart. But has she met her match when she meets Ward- an injured, moody and troubled nfl player.
Hill writes with humour to create a light and easy read. Looking forward to what stories come next.
PS who doesn’t love New York 😍

This book was pure feel-good magic with just the right dose of sass and heart. I completely melted for the setting, New York is its own character here, vibrant and romantic in that quietly cinematic way that makes you want to pack a bag and fall in love in the rain. The writing sparkles. Melissa Hill knows exactly how to balance charm with emotional depth, and I adored the slow unraveling of Hannah’s story. The romance is layered and soft in the places you don’t expect. Not just chemistry but real tension, built on misunderstandings, stubborn pride, and moments of surprising vulnerability. I fell harder with every chapter. This book reminded me why I love contemporary romance when it’s done right—genuine warmth, imperfect people trying to figure it out, and just enough heat to keep your heart racing. It left me grinning like a fool.
