Elizabeth is a single mother of Hollie, who is blindsided when she disappears from a school function while she is waiting for her right outside the door. It was a Halloween party, so was she in a different costume? Who could have taken her. Hollie has her suspicions, so pretends that she is home safe with her partner and sets out to find her and bring her home. Why won't Elizabeth call the police, something hinky is going on here. When there is an accidental death while she is poking around, she calls her twin sister for help. This is where things take a very dark turn. Sasha is not afraid to take a life if it means saving her niece. How many people will meet their end before Hollie is found?
Of course, a missing child is every parent's nightmare. When my 3 year old disappeared for a short time at the mall, I was traumatized, so I can only imagine what Elizabeth is feeling, but why doesn't she want the police involved? I liked Elizabeth at first, but when she began to act in erratic ways, I was not pleased. Elizabeth and Sasha are polar opposites and I can see why Elizabeth had kept Hollie away from her aunt. This was a twisty story, that had me trying to figure out what the secrets were, and would they find Hollie before something happened to her. With a lot happening at a very quick pace, this book had me reading and listening whenever I could to see what was going to happen next. With themes of a missing child, light and dark twins, family drama, and unreliable narrators, I was kept guessing until the end. The ending took me a bit by surprise and left me shaking my head as I tried to determine if I was right about what it meant. If you enjoy a twisty thriller with unreliable narrators, then you might want to pick this one up. My only niggle was that some of the actions were a bit over the top. I did a read/listen and enjoyed both formats. The audiobook was wonderfully narrated by Cathleen McCarron, I have listened to other books by this talented voice actress and this one was another enjoyable listening experience. I thought she did an amazing job with the expression, letting me experience Elizabeth's panic, and fear. I recommend this book in either format, but if you enjoy a good audiobook, I don't hesitate to recommend this one.

It's really hard to comment on this book. I've not listened to many audio books before and realize that they aren't for me. When I physically read a book I get transported away, but not the same listening to one. I'd love to give it a go as a text book as it sounds like a great book.

Elizabeth's daughter goes missing at the end of a school Halloween party. Every mother's worst nightmare! Added to this are the twists and turns of secrets that Elizabeth harbours. Who has her daughter and how will she get her back. I can't say much more without spoiling the plot, but while slow to start, this proved a satisfying read, with some unexpected layers in the story.
Thank you to Netgalley for my ARC audiobook

9 year old Hollie has had a lovely night at then school Halloween disco, mum Elizabeth has been working on the snack stall but was able to sneak in to see Hollie take part in the costume parade. She’s a little worried that Hollie will be disappointed she didn’t win, but once again top prize went to the daughter of the PTA chair. Elizabeth is getting ready to cheer up little Hollie, tidying away the store, she keeps a careful eye on all the children passing by, watching for Hollie.
Suddenly realising all the other children have gone by but not Hollie, she begins to worry. Heading into the hall, she takes a look around. No sign of her! How can she have missed her, shes wearing a giant butterfly costume? Beginning to panic, she starts calling her name and looking around. Hollie’s teacher approaches and after searching together, she suggests calling the police. At that point Elizabeth suddenly says she’s remembered her partner picked her up.
Heading to her car, Elizabeth is still panicking, where is Hollie? But she cannot involve the police, or her past will come out.
What follows is Elizabeth’s search for Hollie, as it becomes apparent someone has her. Who is it and what do they want?
Elizabeth reluctantly turns to her sister Sasha for help. Her and Sasha haven’t seen each other for several years. Sasha uses some dubious techniques to get answers or things the way she wants them.
As the search for Hollie continues so does the chaos around Elizabeth,
We follow as both Sasha and Elizabeth hunt for Hollie, using their own ways to get answers.
I enjoyed the fast pace of this book, but to be honest the twist didn’t shock me, I had already worked that out fairly early on. I felt the characters back story was a little lacking, especially when we found out the truth about Hollie and Elizabeth, I felt that was ambiguous and needed a little more clarification (maybe that was a book in itself, I’ll have to check)
I felt the ended a little lacking after the way the rest of the story had evolved.
Despite that it was an enjoyable story and the narrator did a good job making you feel the characters
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this title

I still havent recovered! This book had me on the edge of my seat...
A wild ride with twists and turns!
I loved every single minute of it.
The narrator was perfect.. Loved the shorter chapters and I felt thoroughly wrung out!
4 stars

My Daughter is Missing by JD Kirk is a gripping psychological thriller that explores every parent's worst nightmare: the sudden disappearance of a child. From the very beginning, the atmosphere of this book is very tense and full of dramatic suspense. We are pulled right into the story when Elizabeth's daughter Hollie is missing when she goes to pick her up from her school's Halloween party. Where is Hollie? How could she have disappeared from a school party? The school suggests calling the police, but Elizabeth refuses. What is Elizabeth hiding? What is she running from?
This story had relentless twists and turns and had me so unsure about what to believe. Every time I thought I knew what was going on, I was hit with another turn that had me doubting everything and everyone. This was definitely a page turner that had me anxious to find out what happened to Hollie and what Elizabeth was hiding. The ending took my by surprise and had my mouth wide open. Solid 4 star read!
Cathleen McCarron was a fantastic narrator. She made Elizabeth's panic and fear palpable.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Elizabeth's world collapses when her nine-year-old daughter, Hollie vanishes during a school event. Instead of calling the cops Elizabeth chooses.
As time goes by Elizabeth is really getting close to panicky state as she is just not able to figure out - one end she has lied to her partner and then she continues to lie to everyone leading to more people dying and she has her sister cleaning up her mess for her!
This book was kind of gripping but could have been shorter - overall 3 stars!

I felt this was a little predictable in parts but was overall an interesting story. Narrator was soothing and storytelling kept me hooked.

Sadly did not enjoy this book at all! I was lost for a lot of the book and found it hard to want to read more. I did finish and did like the ending. Not my favourite thriller book

I enjoyed this more than I expected, and actually did not quite guess the ending ahead of time! Good amount of suspense and twists.

My Daughter Is Missing by JD Kirk and narrated by Cathleen McCarron was a excellent psychological thriller from start to finish, especially as it had me hooked from the first chapter and I wanted to find out what happened to the main character Elizabeth's daughter, who went missing after a school costume party and why Elizabeth is hiding lots of secrets from people.
The narrator Cathleen McCarron was excellent and I loved the way she told this story, she made it hard for me to stop listening to it. It was a superb audiobook and I highly recommend it.
Big Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my ARC.

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨ almost there but not quite for a 5.
Physiological thriller, suspense and drama.
The narrator on this one is perfect for the plot.
A mothers loves who will do anything to find her daughter but can’t tell the police for help!?
What could go worst!
It was a lovely read, fast paced but some other words on this book has a repeating sentence.
I thought that the narration has doubled the lines but I keep re checking just to make sure.
Anyway, it’s doesn’t affect the whole plot of this book.
It was gripping, intense and the ending is not predictable.
Thankyou for the opportunity to read this arc for a honest review .

I liked the author’s style of writing (descriptions, turn of phrases) but I wasn’t captivated by the storyline. I persevered to the end but the story struggled to hold my attention. It seemed to drag on.
The narration of the audiobook is well paced but I didn’t like how the voice portrayals were done
2.5 / 5 rounded down
Thank You to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook version of this ARC.

Elizabeth's daughter is missing after a school costume party. The catch? She can't report it to the police just yet because of the secrets she hides. Just when you think you've figured it out, another character is introduced as Elizabeth's past unfolds. Definitely a must listen with a great twist.

I quite liked the audio version as the narration added an extra element to the story and I got very invested, although I had already read the book. It worked really well.

3.5 stars, rounded up
I listened to the audiobook and really enjoyed it! The narrator was great: not too over-the-top with expressions but also not monotone.
The story itself was really intriguing. It kept me interested, and the suspense built nicely. I also thought the writing was beautiful in the flow and descriptive imagery. The author's words and language helped to really immerse me in the storytelling. I did find the ending to be a bit unsatisfactory, but I still enjoyed the story. This was my first read by this author, and it will not be my last!

I enjoyed this book. I listened to the audiobook. This book definitely hooked me from the beginning. I will say midway it dragged a little. Overall it was a good read. I give it 3.75 ⭐️

Audiobook Review: My Daughter Is Missing by JD Kirk
I received this audiobook through NetGalley, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to discover new authors and share my thoughts.
This was my first JD Kirk book, and wow—what a wild ride! My Daughter Is Missing is a gripping thriller about a mother whose daughter goes missing and the relentless lengths she’ll go to in order to find her. The suspense builds with every chapter, and the twists and turns kept me guessing the entire time. Just when you think you know what’s going on... you don’t!
The narrator did a great job bringing the story to life. I really enjoyed the accent and the way their tone added an extra layer of tension and urgency to the plot—it made the whole experience even more immersive.
And JD Kirk... why did the FMC have to be named Elizabeth and be part of the PTA?! That hit a little too close to home for me, as I am Elizabeth and currently a PTA president! I couldn’t help but laugh at the coincidence—it made the story even more memorable.
Thank you again to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. I’ll definitely be checking out more from JD Kirk!

Enjoyed the book. It wasn’t a favorite but had its good parts. I found some parts to be very unlikely, like nobody at the school calling the cops as soon as the mom says her daughter is missing.
