An enlightening, inspiration and reassuring read, not just for those of us dealing with long term illness and disability, but for anyone dealing with an ageing body and mind. Almost like having a best friend telling you all the things you know you should be telling yourself, but somewhere you never quite manage to. This left me with a much greater understanding of my own emotional response to the everchanging limitations of my body, and how to harness those responses in a more compassionate way to work with, not against, myself. An essential addition to my bookshelf that I can see myself returning to in times of need.

I feel like this book should be a must read for anyone so that we can confront our body grief. For me I read this at just the right time whilst dealing with ‘just another thing’. It’s so good to hear the acknowledgment that it’s not all fine and to look at the balance between fighting and surrendering. I am going to work more in collaboration with my body in the future. Thanks to NetGalley for the early copy of this.
