ARC REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Shari Low is back with another unforgettable story centered around an ensemble of remarkable women!!!

1990 was a wild year for Lisa, Moira, and Carina. The three woman, who seemingly had nothing in common, formed an unbreakable bond. Brought together by a talent agency, they performed in the bustling city of Hong Kong for packed crowds. But like all good things, it had to come to an end. Unfortunately, the unlikely friendships began to fall to the waist side. Three decades passed with little communication. But when Moira decides enough is enough, she invites the ladies to meet her in the city that brought them together. Will they be able to recreate the magic of 1990, or will they discover there is nothing left to salvage?

One More Day of Us, showcases Shari Low’s masterful writing. This story is centered around female relationships in all of its forms (child, mother, friend, wife, lover, etc). By combining dual timelines and multiple points of view readers are given a bird’s eye view into the intricacies of three individual lives. While all three women begin the story in the same city, at roughly the same age, they go in three very different directions. Proving the simplest choice can have a dramatic effect on the outcome.

In addition to her phenomenal storytelling, I am blown away by how Shari Low formats her books. While this book is a bit more spread out, taking place over one week instead of a single day, it doesn’t let up once. From the start we are introduced to an ensemble cast of characters. Low manages to flush out each character’s backstory and in record time. Readers will be enthralled in the web she beautifully weaves. It just goes to show you don’t get to be a “#1, million-copy bestselling author of over 30 novels” by mistake!

My only regret with this book is that I didn’t read it closer to Mother’s Day. It would have served as the ideal time. One of the main takeaways is a child never truly understands the sacrifices their parent makes for them (ie Lisa and Stevie). As a result, it forced me to reexamined my relationship with my mother and helped me to see her in a whole new way!

Special thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books, and Shari Low for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Love may come and go, but great friends last a lifetime.

35 years ago Moria, Carina and Lisa shared an unforgettable summer in Hong Kong. Life moves on and the girls drift apart so Moria decides to do something about it and arrange a reunion. Can they pick up where they left off or are some things better left in the past?

I adore this authors work and was very excited to get approved for this book by @netgalley. It’s hard not to fall in love with characters by this author and I did exactly that, great book and it made me smile all of the way through.

i really enjoyed reading this book, it had that element that I was looking for from the description. I was engaged with what was happening to the characters and was invested in what was going on in this. Shari Low wrote this well and left me wanting to read more from her.

This was a very emotional read about friendship, the choices that we make and the consequences of those choices.
It was a beautifully written story sharing three women’s lives since they met and shared adventures thirty four years ago. Each of the women took a different path through life after they went their separate ways and this is their story, told by each over a dual timeline, showing us who they were and who they have become. The ending, when I got there, was the most perfect cherry on the top of this skilfully plotted tale.
As always with a Shari Llw book it was great to hear about some of the characters I have gotten to know in previous books, it’s not essential to have read any of them to understand this one, it just enhances the enjoyment as you know well some of the very minor characters that get passing mentions here.

Shari Low is that rare author who writes books that evoke another world so incredibly well and make you feel all the feels, whilst she is at it. I laughed and cried during the reading of this novel. And I wanted to go to Hong Kong as well (somewhere I have never been).

Moira, Lisa and Carina are three very different girls who are thrown together in Hong Kong, back in 1990 when they are young, single and all employed by the same talent agency. Moira and Lisa have incredible voices, Carina sings too but her forte is the piano. They work hard, play hard and enjoy life to the fullest extent that is possible. And then, as all things do, it comes to an end.

Fast forward to 2025 and Moira's life looks very different. She spent decades working hard and now she is taking it a little bit easier. She wants to reconnect with Carina and Lisa but what have the intervening years done to the "girls"? She doesn't know but she invites both of them to meet her in Hong Kong.

I am a little older than the three characters, since I did all of my partying etc in the 80's. It was a wonderful time to be young and single, it has to be said, and there are a lot of things that I can relate to when it comes to this story.

I won't spoil what happens but it was a relatable and emotional tale for me, told over two timelines.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC. I know I said ARC but I have quite a backlog and I am glad I saved this to read when I could properly enjoy the book.

Being a fan of Shari Low, her characters are somehow connected in some way from different books and when I see someone familiar, it's like seeing a cameo you recognise in a movie! I love this in her books and I am always very excited to find out who are the characters going to be featured in her new book.

As always, this book did not disappoint. Slightly different from her previous books, with past and present in the plot, and how events and circumstances has led to all the characters being completely different when middle-aged as compared to their young selves, I could not put the book down as the story unfolded on how and why they were who they were. Some health scares as well in the book, to of course add a little excitement to the plot, but I will stick to my resolution of no spoilers and let you find out for yourselves what happened.

In anticipation of her next book!

This was such a lovely book. There was a lot of sadness but it was ultimately uplifting and heartwarming with strong themes of friendship, found family and living life to the full. It was written in past and present POV and focused on the lives of three unlikely friends who met in Hong Kong as young performers. They planned a reunion decades later after a lifetime of occasional phone calls, letters and emails. I really enjoyed learning about the different women and their friendships and the way their lives had developed. I liked the way the story linked in with characters from another of Shari's books too. A really enjoyable read

In her novel, “One More Day of Us,” Shari Low seamlessly weaves together a story that unfolds across different decades, locations, and the pursuit of long-lost dreams. This novel makes you wonder: would you ditch your dreams for love? And, most importantly, what happens if you do?

The story starts in 1990, during a hot summer in Hong Kong. Moira Chiles, a 23-year-old singer from Scotland, is living the dream. With friends and fellow performers Carina Lloyd and Lisa Dixon, she’s playing to packed hotel bars, enjoying her youth, music, and all the possibilities. It was a great time—fun, loyal friends—but one decision at the end shaped the next 30 years.

Moira’s back in Glasgow in 2025, all retired after years of singing in pubs and on cruise ships. Her fancy career’s simpler now. When she gets the chance to go back to Hong Kong, she does—to revisit the past, and maybe find a part of herself she lost.

The story recounts a heartwarming but bittersweet reunion of old friends in the city of their memories. This isn’t just a sentimental journey. Low masterfully traces the emotional resonance of past choices, demonstrating how decisions made in our twenties have far-reaching consequences.

Despite the challenges of life portrayed, Low’s writing is infused with warmth, hope, and a hard-earned wisdom that feels authentic and soothing.

The 90s Hong Kong and modern Glasgow feel totally different. Yet, the central theme persists: the intricate nature of friendship, the pain of missed opportunities, and the potential for redemption.

“One More Day of Us” explores the “what ifs” of the past and the potential of the future for anyone who has ever questioned them. We’re reminded that it’s never too late to rebuild relationships, offer forgiveness, and pursue forgotten aspirations.

A new Shari Low book is always a reason to celebrate! It’s like getting together with friends you haven’t seen for a long time, and picking up where you left off, like you saw other just yesterday!
Once again, Shari Lowe delivers a gorgeous read that will immediately have readers immersed from page one.

The story alternates between 1990, when Moira, Carina (Posh Pal) and Lisa first met and became firm friends during their chaotic, heady younger years in Hong Kong, and present day when a long-delayed reunion doesn’t quite go according to plan.

Its a surprise when Stevie, Lisa’s daughter arrives, having absolutely no knowledge of her mother’s former wild life before settling down to become a mum. All she’s ever known is the quiet, protective, introverted, practically friendless woman she grew up with. It’s a complete shock to discover that her mother was an entirely different person in the past.

As we navigate the new journey that these women find themselves on – back in the same place where they met, but under such different circumstances – we can’t help but take ourselves on our own little reminiscent paths back into the past. Would we do things differently? Do we wish that our lives had intersected with other people than the ones who we find ourselves with today? Would we rather be someplace else?

Shari Lowe is a master at weaving together all the elements that create deep, lasting connections: warmth, understanding, empathy and connection. And she does it here, once again with (seemingly effortless) style.

I can’t wait to meet up with some of these characters again. I have no doubt we will!

Another winner from Shari Lowe. A perfect blend of emotions from this interwoven group of friends and family, as they discover truths from the past, and hopes for the future. A fabulous read, I couldn't put it down.

A trip down memory lane aka a trip to Hong Kong to relive your wild twenties. That was Moira’s plan and she invited her best friends from that time to join her on this little adventure. Little did Moira think this wouldn’t be the trip she was expecting.

I loved getting to know the main characters. Seeing Moira and Carina reminisce about times gone by. Watching Stevie as she learns more about her mum. Their rapport was glorious to watch unfold on my kindle – at times it was like they’d never been apart. As the story jumped between past and present I got to experience the two sides of the women’s lives.

One More Day Of Us is a gorgeous tale of friendship, love and rediscovery. This trip was life changing for all the characters involved. One More Day Of Us is my first taster of Shari Low’s writing and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be reading more from Low. I defy anyone to read this book and not feel all warm and fuzzy after the emotional trip Low has directed.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of One More Day of Us by Shari Low, published by Boldwood Books

Another five star by Shari Low, I just love her books and this one did not disappoint. I loved the story and I found the characters very relatable,  and i enjoyed how the relationships evolved. It's told in the past 1990 and present 2025. The plot is excellent, the story unfolds nicely and kept me reading. I didn't want to put the book down. Shari Low has touched on love, family, heartache, and friendship to name a few.
I have read many of Shari Low's books, and certainly jump at the opportunity when she has new releases.  Definitely recommend this novel.

In this dual timeline, you follow the story of different women at two different times of their lives. The characters are multi- layered and connected through friendship/ In 1990, they are taken back to an exciting rime in their lives when they were thrown together in Hong Kong and forged a strong unit. However, as you come to see, they kept some things in their lives private from each other and did not always reveal their true selves.

Fast forward to the present day, when they are much older and at having lost touch, come together again back in Hong Kong. Not everyone is able to be there but you nevertheless, find out a great deal about them all and how life has been for them in the intervening period. As always in a book by Shari Low, you are given a complex story, with many threads and a lot of character development. The men in their lives add to your knowledge of the characters and by the end of the story, you are fully invested in their lives.

In short: secrets from the past

I'm afraid I really didn't enjoy this latest from Shari. I just couldn't settle into it at all. My thanks to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

One More Day of Us is the fabulous Shari Low’s latest offering in the One More series.

In 1990, three women met in Hong Kong, performing together in the evenings and forming strong bonds of friendship. Fast forward to 2025, and they realize that 34 years have flown by without a reunion. Moira sends an invitation to Carina and Lisa to meet her at their old hangout in Hong Kong for a long-overdue catch-up. Will they all make it?

I loved the narrative switch between 2025 and 1990, with each woman sharing past insights. This highlighted their enduring friendship despite the years apart. I felt like I was part of their journey, almost like one of their roadies! The vivid descriptions of Hong Kong made me long to be there—absolutely glorious.

Don't miss out—grab your copy soon!

4.5⭐️
Shari Low’s books are always uplifting, inspiring and entertaining. They are like catching up with old friends, reliving their experiences and learning from them.

One More Day is a beautiful story of friendship, freedom, family and love. It follows the story of Moira, Carina, Lisa and their friendship of over 35 years.

I love how every Shari Low’s book starts- an introduction of the characters. It takes away the guess work for me and allows me delve straight into the plot.

This book was told from the points of view of the three main characters and some others, it alternated between the past and the present.

It celebrates strong female friendships and courage to start over when the plug has been pulled.

Hong Kong was one of the main setting of this book and the author did justice to the sight and sounds of this beautiful territory.

If you love women’s fiction and a heartwarming story about friendship then you should read this.

I recently read the previous book in this long running but slightly disjointed series. I do not use the term in a derogatory manner. It is actually kind of fun to keep jumping times and over people who were at the fringes of a previous plot just to see the world a little differently from their eyes. The only thing I will continue to crib about is the need for everyone to end up with someone when the book ends. In this case, one of those happy endings interfered with the way things were left the last time around ( a pairing that made sense).

This book is a dual timeline narrative with women who are very different on either side of that divide. Age and experience has changed them but we see who and why they were when they were young and in Hong Kong. In the short window they have the women recollect their past and try to make sense of their own decisions.

Although it had its moments, my reaction to the book as a whole is influenced by my other reads by the author. The writing is still on point and I read the book at a stretch and would definitely recommend it to fans of the genre. I liked the story, but it is not my favourite. Others who jump in at this point ( it is something that one can do), will probably better appreciate it than I did.

I received an ARC thanks to Netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely based on my own reading of this and other books in the series.

If she writes it I'm going to read it! I absolutely adore books by Low and One More Day of Us was no exception.

The story spans thirty-five years and takes us from the sumptuous scenes of Hong Kong at night, to the streets of Glasgow on a dismal sunny day.

Told from multiple POV over a period of seven days, it's a wonderful story of friendships forged and memories made....whether those memories are worth remembering or best buried in the past remains to be seen...

Low writes with warmth and emotion. Her characters are charming, their personalities shine through making them come alive from between the pages so they're no longer just names on a piece of paper.

It's a wonderful uplifting story and was a sheer delight to devour...over one sitting may I add.

I adore this author's books.
When I first saw the title, I though this was part of her 'One Day With You' books, and whilst there a recurring characters from those novels, readers can read them on their own if they wish.
Low's books are a perfect example to new authors in this genre- perfect fast plotting, and wonderful characters you feel every emotion with.
I have yet to read a sub par book, and long may this continue.
