I’m a big fan of Shari Low so was absolutely delighted to receive an advance copy of her latest book. Thanks so much to the publishers and NetGalley.
I adored this story from the very beginning. Some of the characters are old, familiar ones whilst others are new. What I can say is that they are all well written and you will care about them, (or not in the case of certain ones that shan’t be mentioned.)
There are some laugh out loud moments as well as some tear jerking ones. All in all a very well-balanced book. I have visited Hong Kong so some of the landmarks were familiar, especially the Star Ferry and the Big Buddha.
Sometimes I’m not overly keen on stories that skip back and forward from the past, but in this case it felt very well done and appropriate to the whole reading experience.
Looking forward to reading the next one.

This was a heartwarming read interspersed with some bittersweet moments and although this reads as a standalone it also provides a good catch up with some characters from previous books. Set over a week in current times and looking back 35 years at the time Moira, Carina and Lisa spent as entertainers in Hong Kong it’s told from several perspectives and reflects well on the life they had in their youth and how things have changed over the years. This is an engaging and uplifting character read and I really enjoyed seeing how the characters lives had altered in the intervening years and especially Lisa’s daughter Stevie discovering the part of her mum she never knew.
