This was a charming fun book. All of the girls especially loved it, even me. The highlight as always was the fabulous illustrations.

A sweet story about a mermaid's cosy daily life, with fun and quirky wordplay, and, as always, gorgeous illustrations by Chris Riddell!

Atalanta is a shy mermaid who has a big heart and has a lovely community and friends around her.
We get glimpses into her life as a mermaid at first, with explanations of how she walks, an introduction to her best friend Screech, who is adorable, mermaid moons. then things pick up and the diary turns into a recollection of various adventures.
As usual, Riddell’s illustrations are unique and his storytelling is a reminder of the good old classics.
