Sharp Edged Suspense..
A private island, a seventieth birthday, an inheritance. As Geri gathers her very spoilt and extremely dysfunctional family members together in order to name a successor to a veritable global empire, rivalries and suspicions abound. Who, exactly, will get their just desserts? In a sun soaked setting it seems that nothing is sacred in this sharp edged suspense with a well drawn cast of flawed and oft vile characters populating a pacy and propulsive plot. Thoroughly entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this prior to release. Entertaining with plenty of plot twists throughout, although a little predictable it was still an enjoyable thriller!

do you want to watch the rich fight? do you want to watch the sinister side of the rich that we only hear about in whispers fight? well then step on up to find this bunch of yucks. and they really go at it. of course there is something they want at stake. there is the head of the company role which they all want but better for us readers is they all think they deserve it.
for this book we have the CEO of the company about to retire. and she gathers her family to discuss what happens next. or rather who happen next. a riveting, fun and sharp book ensures. ad all you want it to involve does. and so much more too. some you will see coming, and some you might not. but its written very well indeed so you cant help but being captivated to find out. and i really did want to see who or if any of them would get the hold of the company.
i love how Rachel gave us some stereotypes we were ready for and some we totally were not.
brilliant read. thoroughly enjoyable.

The rich are different, or so they say. And certainly this story, following the fortunes of the potential heirs - and the plan to bequeath them the family empire - would seem to indicate that there is some truth to this assertion!

An elderly woman gathers her brother's grown up children to a the private island to discuss inheritance issues. Perhaps unsurprisingly, none of them is inclined to play fair when it comes to claiming what they all view as their birthright, and devious machinations ensue...

Entertaining and razor sharp, this is thriller that provides plenty of twists along the way - even as it illuminates the decaying moral state of the human condition. Worth a read, it gets 3.5 stars.

A CEO’’s 70th on a private island leaves her heirs desperate to be the next one in the top job.

Geraldine’s heirs are her niece and two nephews. None of them are keen on each other and you won’t find any likeable characters in this family.

While I enjoyed the plot generally, I found the reveals quite predictable but I would put this down to having read way too many books in the last couple of years.

If you like a private island and you like watching the rich fight, you will love it.

Thank you to the publisher’s and Netgalley for the e-arc in exchange for and honest review.

The advanced publicity for this book piqued my interest, and although I'm not reading/reviewing as much as i used to, I thought it worth a crack

Quick sumnmary - CEO and owner of vast multinational company invites her nephews and neice to a 70th birthday party on an idyllic island to discuss her successor. None of them are nice people, and the plot gets more complicated when the CEOs obnoxious brother gatecrashes the celebrations and.....sorry, no plot spoilers!

What did I think - charactarisation was good- neither cardboard cut outs, nor obvious stereotypes (not always easy to achieve IMHO); location - well described, without being OTT - I could feel the sunlight as I was reading the book; plotting - sharp and tight, very well paced, definitely kept you on the page.

The ending/plot twist is always important. did I see it coming? Well, I made a guess and I was a little right, and dammitt, it was a good one - very left field!

Final comments - yes, very well worth a read - easily gets a place in my Highly Recommended category
