Louise Bay brings us a story of how American Tuesday Reynold's life blows up in her face when her fiancé of ten years leaves her and her job is in jeopardy. In order to salvage it, she is sent to London to see if she can prove that she is right for the job. What she doesn't expect is being in a hotel surrounded by images of her childhood crush. She is super excited when she spots him in the park while exploring London before heading in to work. Imagine her surprise when he not only doesn't answer her, but scowls at her! Turns out, it wasn't even him. Even worse-she keeps running into him at the coffeehouse and the bar where she is staying. She finally introduces herself to him only to have him not care enough to share his name. It all changes when his friend stops by and invites her to join them for dinner. What is more surprising is that he comes back to ask her to join them and then takes her drink, so she has no other option but to follow him. Turns out he needs her help in securing some hotels and the other way is for them to pretend to be a couple. Will his plan work? Will they be able to pull it off, or will being that close to each other for a weekend ruin their chances?
Louise Bay brings us a fun story where the universe keeps throwing the same people together to see what they will do each time they run into each other. Tuesday is quirky and fun while Ben is serious and business oriented. She brings out the fun in him while he tries to keep things on a less personal level. What can happen when you have two very different people pretending sparks are flying between them? Will the pretending turn into the real thing? Or will it just show how good of an actor they both are? Will the goal of getting the hotels be the only reason why they fake this relationship, or can it turn into the real thing? I enjoyed reading the fun banter between these two characters and going on an adventure with them to see what happens next.
I have received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Montlake for this privilege.

I enjoyed this, but mit as much as other books by Louise Bay. I think it was because of the obviously obvious cliché story.
Tuesday comes to London for work. Coincidentally, there's a conference for her favourite rom-com actor in her hotel. Also, she runs into a look-alike of this actor several times over the next days. And then we have a fake engagement. That might have been a bit too much for my taste.

I LOVED IT!!! Ben and Tuesday are the most adorable pair in the entire fictional universe.
I don't have enough words to convey much i freaking loved this story.
I captivated by these two from beginning to end. I just couldn't put it down and I had a smile on my face the entire time, well except the times i had to sniffle a tear or two.
Overall this was an excellent fake dating billionaire romance filled with witty banter, heartfelt and swoony moments, British aristocracy, and a journey of healing and self discovery.
This is definitely a new comfort read and one i will be rereading for ages.
Thanks to Montlake and Netgalley for the ARC!

I have never read anything by this author, but I will be looking out for other books they write in the future. I really enjoyed the story as well as the pacing of the story.

A very classic Louise Bay book! I enjoyed the characters and the story! Tuesday and Ben had great chemistry and banter! Ben is such a swoon worthy grumpy lead! I had a lot of fun reading this book!

I devoured this book — it was exactly what my heart needed right now. Sweet, swoony, and just the right touch of spice. Every character brought something to the table, and I found myself smiling through so many scenes.
The story follows Tuesday, whose life is a bit of a beautiful mess. Her fiancé dumped her for someone else, her career is hanging by a thread, and she’s still navigating the grief of losing her mom. In a last-ditch effort to save her job, she heads to London to impress a major client — and fate throws her into the path of grumpy billionaire Ben, who just so happens to look exactly like her celebrity crush.
Ben’s got his own problems. He needs to charm a Duke to close a high-stakes deal, but there’s a catch: the Duke values family, loyalty, and deep personal connections. So naturally…Ben needs a fake fiancée. Cue Tuesday.
What follows is a swoon-worthy, cavity-inducing romance packed with fake engagement antics, steamy moments, charming banter, beautiful destinations, heartfelt grief processing, and a journey of rediscovering yourself when life falls apart.
If you love fake dating, grumpy/sunshine, billionaire romance, and healing stories wrapped in feel-good fluff — add this one to your TBR immediately.

This book was the perfect light-hearted easy read. Full of all my favorite tropes and set in one of my favorite cities, it was easy to fall in love with these characters and their love story. I wish there had been a little more care in the language used surrounding sex workers (this is not a plot point in the story, but there is some insinuation about the FMC feeling like a sex worker because of a deal made between her and the MMC). Those few mentions took me out of the story a little bit, but I did enjoy it overall.

I really enjoyed this story it was written really well. The main characters were great. The chemistry between Tuesday ( love her name) and Ben were beautiful. Even though Ben was grumpy and growly his undercover sweet side was swoon worthy. I loved how he treated Tuesday. I would recommend this book, great story.

I loved this book. The character development was thorough and felt real. I enjoyed the fake relationship trope. Tuesday honestly came off as a genuine person working through her grief.
Loved this new book by Louise Bay. She is one of my insta-read authors!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. I absolutely devoured this book. It was so cute and everything I needed right now. All the characters were enjoyable too.

He will have to charm the Duke who owns it. One problem in order to get access to the Dukes dinner. He needs to find someone to play his fiancé. Since the Duke is hard set on family values and those deep connections.
This story is filled with cavity worthy romance, fun adventures, fake engagement, spice, beautiful locations, moments of processing grief, and finding who you truly are.

Love, love, love Tuesday and Ben! London is my happy place, and I couldn’t wait to read this. It is such a great book!

Louise Bay is fantastic and I enjoy everything she writes. I love that she is being widely offered and this book just proves she deserves the world because it was fantastic. The main character is swoony. The meeting between the two is so fun and adorable.

Thank you so much to Louise Bay and Montlake for the eARC of this book. This was my first read from Louise and definitely won't be my last. I loved everything about it! The pacing was great and I loved the setting of the book!

An American in London
My first book by Louise Bay but not my last! Tuesday Reynolds is off to London to win over the new CEO and to save her job. She is checked into a hotel hosting a Daniel De Luca convention. The actor holds a special place in her heart and in her relationship with her mother. A meet cute ensues with a handsome, wealthy, broody Daniel De Luca look alike Brit who needs a fake fiancé to impress a Duke and Duchess. All the romantic cliches you would expect to find in an adorable story. Quick, cute, light-hearted read.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A quick, light, fairy tale of a read. This book gave me butterflies, made me laugh, and enchanted me. The celebrity look alike bit was tiresome by the end but overall, I loved this sweet love story between Ben and Tuesday (okay but come on, Tuesday??). Every trope I love was built in and while the ending wasn’t shocking by any means, it was exactly what I was looking for.

I throughly enjoyed this book and would love to read more from this author. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC

I really enjoyed An American in London by Louise Bay. This book focuses on Tuesday, who just relocated to London for management fast track program through her employer after a horrible breakup and with no feeling of belonging in New York. While in the coffee shop, she starts chatting with a handsome stranger, who seems cold and quiet. However, Tuesday is drawn to him, as he looks just like her favorite actor, who she has deep rooted feelings about, due to a bond she shared with her mom and his movies. She keeps running into the mysterious stranger, even having dinner with him and being asked to be his fake fiancé. After turning him down, isn't she shocked when she learns he is one of the biggest clients of the bank and she is responsible for putting together a report about his overall wealth. As with all romance books, there are lots of ups and downs and feelings being developed on both sides. I would highly recommend this book and don't want to give it all away, so you need to read it to see if they have a HEA :)

I'll admit I love a romcom movie that gives you the feels. This book was like a romcom movie. It had a nondescript heroine who isn't where she wants to be in life and who's drifting after a breakup and other life changes. It had a handsome but gruff leading man who isn't much for words but is really a teddy bear on the inside. An American in London is fun and predictable. Ben and Tuesday don't necessarily ooze chemistry but they do have a comfortable familiarity and that's what makes them feel believable. It has several tropes including billionaire and fake dating.
My only issue was the amount of time Tuesday spent talking about and thinking about her ex Jed. It got to the point that just reading his name annoyed me. Whenever she'd bring him up she'd say "Oh I haven't even thought about him at all until now". Which incidentally was all the time. Jed actually got more pages than her best friend Melanie. Jed was not a welcomed addition.
Also the celebrity lookalike angle dragged on for a bit too long. I'm glad she clarified near the end of the book because I felt like I was being gaslit.
All in all it was a nice light read.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 3⭐
"An American in London" is a charming romance about Tuesday Reynolds, a Manhattanite navigating a rough patch in her life, and Ben Kelley, a wealthy and handsome stranger with an unusual proposition. When Tuesday agrees to be Ben's fake fiancée for a weekend, their professional arrangement slowly blossoms into something more.
The chemistry between Tuesday and Ben is undeniable, and their banter is laugh-out-loud funny. The supporting cast, particularly the delightful Duke and Duchess, adds to the story's charm.
While the book takes time to build momentum, it eventually wins over with its witty dialogue and sweet romance. Ben's hidden charm and Tuesday's relatability make them a compelling couple.
Overall, "An American in London" is a pleasant, if not spectacular, read. Fans of romantic comedies and "fake relationship" tropes will likely enjoy this lighthearted tale.

This book made me smile so many times.
I love the dynamic between Ben and Tuesday. They have a chemistry that goes deeper then just lust.
Tuesday has lost herself. But in London she finds out what and who she wants.
Ben knows exactly what he wants. Until he lays eyes on her and his whole 5-year-plan slowly starts going down the drain.
Together they accomplish in making old and new dreams come true.
