Petals and Plot Twists is a sweet friends-to-lovers rom-com set in a magical old apartment building. Sophie, a botanist, teams up with her best friend Peter to search for her soulmate using a mysterious flower that blooms around true love—without realizing Peter’s been in love with her all along. It’s a light, heartwarming story full of charm, magic, and slow-burn romance.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Jenny Proctor, you did it again. Petals & Plot Twists was amazing and wonderful. I absolutely loved every second of watching Peter & Sophie fall in love. This best friends to more story was magical. They had problems, but worked on it as good adults do. There were several laugh out loud moments & plenty of romance.

Thank you to NetGalley and Jenny Proctor for this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I really enjoyed this one! I thought the concept of a love flower was so fun! Peter and Sophie have known each other since high school and know each other better than anyone else. When Sophie, a landscape architect, finds a mysterious flower that only blooms at certain times. She investigates this and "Operation Soulmate" ensues. This was a fun friends to lovers story. Peter was the perfect combination of attractive and nerdy (and I loved his lego sets). Jenny Proctor has a way of making characters so relatable and fun. I can't wait to read the rest of the series!

This book is like a hug in paperback form—gentle, funny, heart-squeezing in the best way, and filled with all the whimsical vibes you’d expect from a magic-infused historical building that loves to play matchmaker. 🪴✨

💬 Tropes & vibes:

This was delightful! The plot was fun and unique. I loved the touches of magic- it wasn’t so much that it was terribly unbelievable.
I enjoy the friends to lovers trope so this one was lots of fun. There was humor peppered throughout which I liked. Best of all there was a happy (and believable) ending.
This is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone. I haven’t read all the other books in the series but after reading this one I can’t wait to read the others.

This was a sweet rom-com that takes place in The Serendipity as part of the Only Magic in the Building Series.

Sophie and Peter have been friends for years and secretly are both having feelings that are more. Sophie tends a rooftop garden with a special plant that blooms in the presence of love. Peter is terrified to go on the roof in case the flower doesn't bloom. Sophie wants to get him out there. Will it bloom or not?

This was a sweet and enjoyable read. I am enjoying this series very much! Thanks Jenny Proctor, Net galley and publisher for the advanced arc!

I love that each book in this series builds on the books before but still has its own personality and style. I knew I’d love this one because of the author and the fact that the main character loves plants. I enjoyed seeing previous main characters popping in throughout this book and I’m looking forward to working my way through the rest of the series!

Such a cute addition to the series! I loved the characters, their romance and of course the banter! Once again I would have liked more magic from the building but overall, and adorable closed door romance

I really enjoyed this book! LOVED the Sophie and Peter and getting to revisit with Willa and Archer. There were times that it was a little slow, but it picked up on the back end and was really good! Lots of "talking in their heads" as my sister calls it. I loved how Sophie and Peter had to get out of their comfort zones. I really really loved the epilogue. I wish Allison and ???? could get their own book.

I am obsessed with the Only Magic In the Building series, and have so much fun reading them as they have been released. Sophie and Peter had the best friendship, it was written so well. Jenny Proctor did an amazing job with her installment in this series. I loved it! Thank you to NetGalley and Jenny Proctor for the opportunity to read this!

This story was set in front of a beautiful backdrop-The Serendipity's rooftop garden and I just loved getting to know Sophie-who tends the garden- and her best friend Peter. Watching the two of them figure out their relationship was fun and inspiring.

Honestly, friends to more will get me... Every. Time. It is by far one of my favorite story arcs to read.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an advanced reader copy of this book!

This was so cute, the plot was fun and unique and I really liked the characters. I didn't love how heavily it relied on the miscommunication trope though that gets annoying fast

I didn’t initially realize this book was part of a series collaboration between multiple authors but they include enough backstory to not feel like you’re missing part of the equation thankfully. Petals and Plot Twists reads like a hot tea on a chilly day: warm and comfortable. Peter and Sophie transition well from childhood best friends to their relationship and I liked that it didn’t immediately go into physical intimacy but continued to build emotional intimacy within their new dynamic. Overall it was an enjoyable, light read.

A sweet friends-to-lovers story! The romance was cozy and whimsical, and I was glad it was dual POV so you got to hear from both Sophie and Peter about how their relationship had evolved and changed over the years of their friendship. This would be a great beach/pool day book to enjoy in a single sitting.

Read if you like: A little bit of magic, closed-door romance, he falls first

Thanks to Netgalley and Victory Editing for providing me with a copy of the book.
