I love Dawson's writing style, the way she subtly reminds you of the previous book's events during the current events.

There was a formatting error at the start of every chapter which made it pretty consistently confusing but despite that, I still loved being back with these characters and enjoyed the conclusion to the trilogy.

I liked this book and would recommend it but didn’t love it. It took me a while to get into. I enjoyed the characters. I would recommend this book as a summer read

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC.

A truly satisfying end to the book series, 'Human Rites' brings us our lovely and terrifying witches back for the last fight for the world. I liked how Juno Dawson managed to tie-up all the loose ends, and the last part of the book was everything I could have wished for!

Sorry, my kindle converted copy was riddled with weird errors so I couldn't read this book. I was hoping that nearer publication date there would be a better copy to download but sadly not. I do have it on order on AudioBook (as I have done with all the previous books to listen again) so I will revisit as soon as I can and review in due course.

Dawson wraps up the chaos with magic, trauma, and heart. Messy. Big. Unapologetically queer. Overall I oved it.

What a book! I have absolutely loved every minute spent with these characters in this series. I’m sad it’s over now. A fantastic ending (although there were a few threads that were left undone so maybe a novella is on the horizon).

Human Rites is the last in the Her Majesty's Royal Coven trilogy, and what a book to end on! After the absolute mic drop of an ending to The Shadow Cabinet, I didn't know where the story would (or indeed could!) go, but Human Rites picks up exactly where we left off and rattles along at a fast pace. I think my only small criticism is that there seemed to be some narrative strands left hanging (for example, I expected Snow to play a larger role in this book). Overall, though, a really satisfying conclusion.

I've been waiting for this book for soooo long! These characters and this story have a place in my heart! I am so happy to finally have a conclusion!

I really enjoyed this as the finale to the HMRC series! The characters all get their moment to shine and finish arcs that have been building. As a fan of Juno I knew it was going to hit, but the last third of the book was so well thought out that I had to put it down and just stare into space. I cried and laughed and am already looking forward to Juno's next series!

A decent ending to the series/trilogy, but not how I expected things to end.

The story starts right where Shadow Cabinet ended - not going to spoil the ending of book two here, people who have read it know what happened. From there lots of things are going on that lead to a lot of loose ends to tie up and Dawson used a rather deus ex machina method to achieve this.

I still enjoyed Dawson's writing style with the 90's pop-culture references. The friendships between the women are still strong. But, as mentioned above, some of the plot made me put the ARC down for longer spells than I had expected and I needed to force myself to pick it up again.

As I mentioned above, it is a decent ending and everyone who has read the previous two/three books should pick it up.

I would like to thank Netgalley and HarperCollins for a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

A perfect ending to the trilogy! A love letter to women good and friendship.

And so, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven has come to its grand, chaotic and thoroughly enjoyable conclusion.
It’s been a journey and this closing instalment to the trilogy gave me everything I hoped for, wanted, needed and more.
Character arcs come full circle and we get a multitude of bittersweet and moving endings for all involved.
I’ve grown to truly love this pop culture infused, adventurous, challenging and dramatic trilogy and I’m sad to say goodbye.
But having re-read books 1 and 2 in preparation for this closing chapter I can safely say that these are books that will stand up to re-reads and I look forward to coming back to them again in future.

First of all, the formatting of the e-arc was atrocious which likely affected my enjoyment; the first page of each chapter was spliced in with another piece of writing that was possibly meant to be the first chapter of the book, cutting sentences in half and definitely completely deleting words in some spots. This made the beginning of every single chapter very difficult to read.

This book packs a lot in, with a lot of loose threads to pick up and an entire apocalypse to deal with. We kick off right where Shadow Cabinet left us, with Theo raising Niamh from the dead, and the pace is pretty breakneck the entire way through. It was definitely needed to keep me engaged because tbh the way some of the plot went, I found myself losing a bit of interest and not particularly wanting to pick it back up.

The writing continues to be in Juno's funny and easy to read style, with lots of 90's pop culture, quick POV changes, and heartwarming moments of friendship between our main group. I do love the characters, and particularly more attention was finally given to Leonie and Chinara.

I'm pretty certain the book will go through another round of edits as there were a few mistakes, such as calling 900BC twelve thousand years ago, and referring to some items as MacGuffins when really they are plot vouchers. I will be sneaking a peek into a finished copy when I get the chance to see if these were fixed.

Overall not the ending I wanted, but a pretty decent one nonetheless. It was never going to be perfect for me as the series has never quite lived up to its potential in my opinion, but I'm glad I have read it and would recommend it widely.

Putting some further thoughts under a spoiler section. I am not discussing direct or specific spoilers here, but some may not want to read it. The plot ends up being resolved by (quite a lot of) time travel. This is somewhat of a deus ex machina and I think Juno had perhaps written herself into a bit of a corner (especially considering this book is a year late) as I don't believe there were really any hints that it was possible in books 1-2. This meant that a lot of the later part of the book ended up being very "we need to make sure that history happens in the same way" and Juno has to spend a long time tying everything together. I didn't particularly like this, personal preference around using time travel to resolve a plot.

Perfect end to the fabulous series on witches, covens, family, friendship and betrayals. It took a little longer to get into this one, but refamiliarising myself with the characters and their devious motivations was an interesting journey.

Sadly the formatting on this advanced copy is so appalling it makes the book unreadable at the beginning of each chapter.

I love this series and don’t want to ruin the reading experience so will come back and update my review once it’s released.

I’m so excited to read this book but the formatting just isn’t working for me. I gave it a try but it’s just not working for me.

So I’m going to wait for my preorder and then edit this :).

‘Human Rites’ is the final book in Juno Dawson’s Her Majesty’s Royal Coven trilogy and oh boy, what a ride you are in for.

Preface for this review: I won’t be spoiling this book but there will be spoilers for the previous books. So that’s a warning!

This book picks up after the deliciously painful cliffhanger of the second book. With the coven left reeling from Niamh’s return, everyone is trying to pick up the pieces of recent events and somehow prepare themselves for the possible end of everything.

Where do I even begin with this?

As usual, Juno Dawson’s writing is full of quips, clever analogies, and big characters that stay with you long after the book is done. I’m a huge fan of multiple POVs, and this series allows us to spend time with multiple characters through the story. The references are spot on if you grew up in the 90s/early 2000s in the UK.

This book has a far greater scope than the previous two, given the literal world-ending events going on, and there is a lot more focus given to the fantasy of it all, with magic, witches, and demons taking most of the space. That being said, the recurrent themes of girl power, friendship, familial bonds, and identity remain tangible throughout. Each character has their own journey and arc, though with a cast this big, some characters didn’t get as much attention as I perhaps would have liked. Everyone, however, got what I believed to be appropriate and immensely satisfying endings.

Much like the previous book, I felt the first half lagged immensely BUT once I hit 50%, the pacing switched and the latter half was pretty perfect. As usual, Juno Dawson buffeted me with twists and turns that boggled the mind and dropped my jaw. Honestly, she is a puppet master and knows exactly how and when to pull each thread for maximum impact.

Finally, this book had me in tears. The last few chapters were just emotionally wrenching, in the best way. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better ending to a hugely enjoyable trilogy.

4.5 🌟

This was everything I wanted the third and final book in this trilogy to be!! I’m so sad it’s over, but I’m so glad I read it oh my GOD.

I love Theo and Niamh together, and seeing the love they have for one another was so heartwarming.

I won’t lie, I was a little confused for the final 20%, but by the end, it made sense. I just had to keep reading to understand HAHA!

By the end of the series, you come to appreciate and love Ciara, and I loved her last chapter. It’s such a roundabout way for her character to end up there and it seems like she’s enjoying herself, LOL.

5 stars. This trilogy goes down as one of my absolute favourites. A must read!

Huge thank you to HarperCollins UK and Netgalley for providing me with an eARC. All thoughts are my own.

This is a spoiler free review for both this book and prior books!

THIS WAS AMAZING. Such an incredible finale to this series. I cried a fair bit towards the end just because I knew it was ending lmao.

I love these characters so, so much and everything they do in this book just made me love them even more.

There is SO much going on in this book but it felt so expertly paced. I was never bored, I never felt rushed, nothing felt over or under done.

And honestly, I gotta say, one of the plots in this book felt very Doctor Who. Very River Song. I was lowkey living for it.

Ugh, I am a mess. This series is amazing. Highly recommend.

✨Human Rites by Juno Dawson✨

The final instalment in the Her Majesty’s Royal Coven series! I’m ashamed this took me so long to read but I had to do it on my iPad as the ebook from NetGalley was a mess but I’m still so grateful to be sent an e-arc🙏🏼

That aside, I love this series and I loved this book! I often get nervous by the last book in a series as I feel like it can be easy to be underwhelmed but this was perfect. 🔮

It’s about much more than witches. There’s beautiful family and friendships, girlhood and womanhood, and it touches on some serious topics whilst also being hilarious.
It’s beautifully diverse and that’s how all books should be!? 🏳️‍🌈
