So, I've been trying to read this and it never quite connected with me. I had really hoped, as the first reviewer here on Goodreads, that I would be able to say great things as the premise had been interesting. But... I started off not knowing a lot about the main character or his world - or the "new" one that he was coming to ostensibly vacation in - and found I just couldn't connect with anyone in the story. I think I got maybe 15-20% in and just didn't care. This may be a me thing. It may be I didn't give it enough of a chance to catch me, but I'm afraid I eventually flipped to the end and moved on to something else.

A Holiday in Winter is a tense, atmospheric tale that takes a seemingly ordinary holiday and turns it into a thrilling journey of mystery and self-discovery. As Freddy faces extreme weather, unwelcoming locals, and his own hidden motives, the story weaves action and suspense with deeper emotional stakes. A compelling read that blends adventure and introspection, keeping readers hooked until the very end.

i was confused by alot of things in this book. i didnt understand the direction and it seemed at times even the plot got confused with itself. the characters didnt warm me to them.
im sorry i dont even feel able to review it properly because i dont feel there is enough to review.
this sounds really scathing, and im sorry for that.
