If you enjoyed the first book in this series 'Storm Warning, you would probably enjoy this second one. It has the same mixture of suspense and atmospheric setting. Jo Cattrel is in hiding since she fled here after her mother was murdered. When her father disappears, she goes out to find him and quickly finds herself in danger. Jo is rescued by her former boyfriend Cole. He not only wants to keep her safe, but he also wants a second chance. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. I like that I didn't know who was behind the danger for Jo and their motivation until the very end. I thought that Cole seemed last confident in his abilities in this book.

Hiding from an unknown threat, Jo inadvertently opens the door to more danger. Cole makes it his mission to save her....if he can.

What a thrilling, fast paced, emotional tumultuous read! I loved every minute! I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could.

"The truth was out there and it evaded Jo for much too long."

Jo thought she had finally found safety and her biological father in Hidden Bay, Washington.
She did not know when she boarded the Bremerton Ferry, that her life was going to drastically change. Jo witnessed a knife killing on the ferry ad the killer knew she could identify him. Shesensed someone nearby, a hand covered her mouth ad took her to an empty car with the dead mans' body in the back - the car was moving towards the edge of the ferry and went in! But someone was watching, Jo relentlessly tried to break open the window but it and the door were locked. Cole Mercer, in a cruiser, saw the car go over and jumped in to help, he shot the window open and rescued Jo, barely alive!

Cole used to be Jo's fiancee, but he had not contacted her for over a year, but he assisted her during the police questioning and asked her about her missing father, a mechanic.

Cole and Jo work together to find the killer, but as they are working, Jo gets a call from her Dad about a bomb near her home and they get out just in time!
Who is after Jo and is her father involved?

This is book two in the Hidden Bay Series, even though it is. a stand alone book I do feel like I missed some history that would have made it an even better read. Forensic artist Jo Cattrel is tiered of being on the run, She is not even sure why. Former Green Beret Cole Mercer needs to keep her safe. Jo and Cole must trust each other and try to find out who is after Jo. This book is full of suspense, mystery, drama and so much more. I do plan to go back to read book one as I feel I missed a good book. This book is well written and I enjoyed getting to know all the characters in this book.I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.

Wowsers!!! Seriously get ready for a wild ride full of twists and turns! I love a good mystery/suspense/thriller and this one hit the spot! I was listening while I was on vacation on the coast and I was checking that the doors were locked and no one was following me around while I was walking around the town by myself! Hahaha! I have a great imagination and reading/listening to lots of books like this doesn't help. ;-)

Jo is in hiding after the death of her mom a few years earlier. The book opens with her trying to find her dad and all these crazy things start happening! She witnesses a murder, is attacked and left for dead. Thankfully a private investigator, Cole Mercer, rescues her! And he's not just any PI. He knows her! They used to date. Oh my word. I loved all of this one! Seriously, so many twists and turns that I was recalculating my guesses! It was wonderful! I love when an author can do that and keep me guessing!

I discovered this authors books last year and I have been loving them lots! If you haven't read her books, try this one, or any of her many other books. I didn't read the previous book in this series and can say that it didn't affect me enjoying this one. It can definitely be read as a standalone!

Just lock your doors before you start reading this one, especially if you're reading it at night, all alone. Good luck!!!

Content: Clean. Moments of peril and suspense. Nothing overly graphic. Some kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the publisher, Revell, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

Elizabeth Goddard’s Hidden Bay series is such a powerhouse ride of mystery. Book 2, Perilous Tides, had me gasping many times from the suspense and outright dangerous encounters. Cole and Jo face constant challenges and run for their lives even as love blooms in their hearts. Oh I can’t wait for Book 3!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher/author. The opinions expressed are completely my own.

Every book I’ve read by Elizabeth Goddard has captivated me from the start. She is a gifted storyteller of clean, romantic suspense, and her latest offering is no exception—it’s nearly impossible to put down. The characters are intriguing, strong, intelligent, and very likeable.
This intense, fast-paced story takes the reader on a wild ride. Jo Cattel has been in hiding since the unexpected death of her mother three years ago. While Jo suspects her mother was murdered, the case was closed, indicating natural causes. A talented forensic artist like her mother, Jo has been working as a handyman at a lodge owned by a friend, on the coast of Washington. When she receives an unusual and distressing message from her missing father, Jo sets out to find him.
While on a ferry, Jo inadvertently witnesses a murder. Before she knows it, she is locked in a car with the corpse in the back seat and is shoved off the ferry into the ocean. As the water rises and she struggles to escape the car, she comes perilously close to drowning. Just when all hope seems lost, a man in a nearby boat jumps into the water and manages to rescue her. To her shock, Jo realizes that her savior is Cole Mercer, her ex-boyfriend and a former Green Beret who is now a private investigator.
Cole is investigating the circumstances surrounding Jo’s mother’s death, and he is determined to keep Jo safe while helping her come out of hiding. Together, they embark on an intense, dangerous mission, while also searching for her missing father.
This story, full of suspense and danger, kept me on the edge of my seat until the last page was turned.

Riveting suspense, danger, and intrigue from the opening paragraph! Goddard weaves together a masterful story set on the Washington coast in Hidden Bay which is a haven for people who need to disappear. Fabulous characters, thrilling storyline, beautiful scenery, and surprise twists and turns with the added bonus of romance make this story come alive as you are reading it. Goddard expertly showcases how God is an ever present help and rescuer regardless of life’s storms.

Jo Cattrel left her life as a forensic artist after her mother’s suspicious death to escape to Hidden Bay. Thurst one again into danger, Jo finds herself fighting to stay alive and figure out why danger keeps lurking at her door. She finds herself accepting help from the man who recently broke her heart, Cole Mercer. As they ran against time to keep Jo safe and get to the bottom of the mystery, they must face their past and their present feelings.

This is an excellent series and book two did not disappoint!! I loved catching up with characters from book one and learning Jo and Cole’s stories. Goddard’s books never disappoint to entertain and make me think. This one will definitely be a favorite! I am anxiously awaiting book three.

I was given a complimentary copy by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Catch your breath before you start reading - this action packed story keeps you "racing" to read because you have to know what is going to happen next!! Goddard's latest book in the Hidden Bay series is so good but it is also a stand alone read. If you like twists and turns, lots of action and suspense and enough clues to keep you guessing, you will want to read this book! I received an advance copy from the author and publisher but all opinions are my own.

What a good book! I enjoyed it and it is full of suspense and intrigue with a little romance thrown in.

Jo Cattrel has been hiding out since her mother's death. Then her dad disappears and when she tries to find him she witnesses a murder! Will she be next? What is going on?

Check out this book! You won't regret it!

When something jars your world, and it shatters and falls apart, where do you go?

Most of us would say we find safety in a loved one or our parents.

What if going to your parents for protection and a safe place to reconnect or rebuild was the most dangerous place you could go?

This is the premise that author Elizabeth Goddard used in writing Perilous Tides. After losing so much in such a short space of time, Jo Cattrel has few options to find safety. She soon discovers that connecting with her father doesn’t offer protection; in fact, just the opposite. Any attempts to forge a relationship with him end in loss and destruction, both literally and figuratively. I love how this leads Jo to rely on God. She realizes that the future is unpredictable and that only God knows what is ahead of her, and that He has her in the palm of His hand. I was encouraged when Jo leaned into this to survive her mind-warping experience.

Goddard piggybacks on this idea and spotlights the cost of safety—the perils of protection. I loved the surprise of a subplot that I didn’t see coming and how it tied everything together, showcasing the dangerous cost of protecting someone, of protecting knowledge, and of protecting a way of life. It was good to be directed to consider the duality of freedom and the power of knowledge. “The truth is out there.”

I was in awe of how Goddard brought to light the powerful impact of the past and how it shapes our present. I didn’t want the ‘before’ sections to end as I was gobsmacked; I read slowly so as not to miss any small detail that Goddard had planted.

Finally, I treasured the reminder about perpetual fortitude and how we need to become more like the evergreen.

Goddard never ceases to amaze me with her pacey, bingeable plots and her ability to surprise me. This time, she brought the amazing geography of the Olympic Peninsula to life and set her gripping tale of intrigue against this setting. My highlighter worked overtime, and as I got closer to the end of the book, I had to keep reminding myself that the story wasn’t over yet … Goddard has another book in this series planned. Whew!

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

I had such a great time reading this book, maybe even more than the first one! Although it can stand on its own, it’s part of a trilogy set in Hidden Bay (just a heads up, the third book isn't out yet). If you haven’t read the first book, I’d definitely recommend going back and picking it up.

This book is well-written, featuring continuous action and intriguing plot twists. It's an excellent read, and I will definitely be recommending it to others.

I receive complimentary books from various sources, including NetGalley, authors, and others. I am not required to write a positive review, and I have not received any compensation for my thoughts.

So I decided to take a interest in reading modern day fiction and I am glad I made that decision because this was a very impressive novel. Before reading this book I had never heard Elizabeth Goddard and after reading this I am bound and determined to read more of her books in the future. I for one was impressed not only by her writing but the way the plot played out and how she portrayed the characters.
Our main character is named Jo and she has been in hiding for the last couple of years. However one day she receives a message from her father and she decides to go looking for him. However she is unable to locate him and to make matters worse when she goes back home her mother has been murdered.
Shortly after her mothers murder her ex boyfriend Cole shows up to offer some support. They then go around looking for clues that may be linked in discovering the identity of the murderer and the motive behind the action. Although over the course of the novel they realize they still care for each other. Will it be possible to start over happily or will the killer prevent that from happening.
I received an arc copy from Netgalley and all opinions are of my own.

Perilous Tides is the second book in the Hidden Bay series. While you may see some familiar characters, I do think this could be enjoyed as a standalone without any issues as well.

Elizabeth Goddard never fails to deliver stories that will keep readers at the edge of their seat in suspense... and this one was certainly no exception. This one jumped right into the action from the start, with Jo witnessing a murder and finding herself in danger and being saved by her ex- Cole... and the danger didn't let up from there. Each turn of the page brings more twists and turns to keep you guessing! This is definitely one that you're going to have trouble putting down, with more questions popping up at every turn. Of course, I enjoyed the second chance romance between Jo and Cole, but I definitely felt like the nonstop action and suspense took the spotlight in this one. If you enjoy Christian romantic suspense, this is definitely one you'll want to add to your TBR.

**ARC received via Netgalley for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Elizabeth Goddard has written another winner with Perilous Tides! Your heart-rate might not slow down from the moment you begin page one until you finish the book. Not only is the adventure pulse pounding, but the suspense will keep you guessing the whole way through. Excellent!

God is good. I know you are God. It's not you, but it's people who ha e left me in pieces, who aren't so good.
What a quote! I wish that I could leave this as my review but I know I can't. This little quote sums up this book perfectly us why.
People are hideous at times but there also those who are wonderful too.
I really liked this book. It was about choices and who to believe and not believe. Fast paced and mysterious goings on are what kept me turning the pages.
Jo is a wonderful character whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know her and Cole too.
Here's another one
"One day soon, we'll go back to the moon Jo, I can feel it in my bones. I might even still be around by the time we make it to Mars. Only the Good Lord knows the future. Yes He does!!
It was just an all around nail biting hair raising adventure!
5 stars for a job well done! I highly recommend it
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine

When Danger Catches Up to You

Jo Cattrel has been in hiding for three years, but concern for her father takes her from her quiet solitude of Hidden Bay to Seattle where danger finds her in the first chapter. The pace never lets up as author Elizabeth Goddard moves the action from Seattle to Hidden Bay to Jo’s hometown.

Helping her is the ex-boyfriend she never thought she would see again, Cole Mercer. Jo can delight that he’s helping her while also hating that she needs him because she doubts she can count on him for the long haul.

“Perilous Tides” is Goddard’s second book in her Hidden Bay series. Both Jo and Cole appeared in Book 1. Although not necessary, “Perilous Tides” is even better if “Storm Warning,” Book 1, is read first.

Thank you to the author and Revell for an advance copy of the book; all opinions are my own.

One of the things I enjoy about this series is it’s nestled in the waves of the Pacific Northwest. Goddard does a beautiful job of creating a settling that presents as its own character. Her stories make me want to visit the region even more!
Goddard sends Jo and Cole running for Jo’s life as they face fears and dig tirelessly to uncover her family’s secrets.
I found this story to be captivating and a great addition to the Hidden Bay series.
Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to review this tale. All opinions are me own.

I couldn't get enough of the first book in this series and this next one pulls you straight into a fast paced adventure with a lot of characters from the previous book. Jo gets a cryptic message from her Pop and she tries to track him down. When she isn't able to locate him, she heads back to the lodge. Only thing is she sees a murder and now she is afraid that her cover has been blown, after hiding for three years. "Leaving Hidden Bay,even for one day, had put her back in danger." Cole Mercer shows back up into town looking into her Mother's murder. Will Cole be able to protect Jo from the murderer, be able to solve her Mother's case and help find her Pop? Settle into a comfortable chair and get ready to go on a wild ride with Jo and Cole while imagining you are right there with them. Seeing the beautifully described scenery of the Pacific Ocean of the Washington state coastline. I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own thoughts of the book. Grab your copy "Before" the next book in the series comes out.
