Thank you NetGalley and books glacial for the eARC.
What a fun read this is, not quite a cozy, it has too much bite for that, but very much a feel-good book.
Jane, the protagonist, is so loveable and feisty, I enjoyed her character a lot.
The mystery itself is quite a good one and takes Jane and the reader to Florida and France.
I look forward to more of Jane's cases and exploits as a 'consultant'!

Jane, with brown hair and watery brown eyes, is tired of being average. However, she recognizes that it gives her an advantage as an investigator, or 'consultant', as she likes to be called. When Jane's mother believes that her new neighbors are engaged in suspicious activity, Jane conducts a cursory inquiry but finds nothing amiss. When her mother later disappears, Jane's investigation takes her to France and a smuggling ring that hits a little too close to home.
It took me a bit to get into this story, but once I realized that it's meant to be a bit of a romp, I enjoyed it a lot more. Jane is very likeable with a sharp sense of humor and readers will cheer on her efforts to be much more than average. The way is left open for additional books which I would gladly read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

An excellent read for any and all readers! Author comes at you with both barrels and knocks you out of your shoes! Great job fleshing out all the characters. I give this book FIVE stars! Definitely recommend!

This book is a DELIGHT. Jane is a thoroughly ordinary, unnoticeable woman, and that very ordinariness is what allows her to do her private investigating. I had so much fun reading this, but it also made me think about celebrating Jane’s ordinariness- and my own! So charmingly written, I’m very much hoping for at LEAST one sequel. I want to solve more mysteries with Jane!

This was such a fun story with a lead character I really loved. There are plenty of funny scenarios mixed in with a pretty thrilling heist and the author’s knack for a quirky character really hits the mark.

This book is a delightful and quirky read that turns the ordinary into the extraordinary. Following Jane, a self-proclaimed “average” woman, the story takes unexpected twists as her seemingly mundane life unravels into a series of charming, humorous, and heartfelt adventures. The author’s witty prose and relatable characters make it easy to root for Jane as she discovers her own uniqueness. While the pacing is occasionally slow, the book’s charm lies in its celebration of the everyday, proving that even the most average life can be anything but. Perfect for anyone seeking a light, uplifting escape with a touch of whimsy.

A very fun read indeed. I loved the wit, the intrigue and the explanations inside Jane's head when others were speaking. It was a great escapsim book that I sped through as I was having so much fun. The mystery side of things was also great although I did guess who the new neighbour was quite early on in the book.
