First I would like to thank NetGalley, the Author, the Artist and the Publisher for this ARC.

So this is just the funniest...

My body has both my hearth and thoughts....

The story is funny and cozy and wholesome.
The art is fantastic. Each character is very recognizable and unique.
It's a great read and although I find it to be suitable for all ages, I think an older audience is going to read more than the young ones. 😉

Really enjoyed this!

A beautiful vampire with long hair? Yes! Luka is such a fun character, regal yet totally exhausted from his immortal life, which makes for some great comedy. The mix of supernatural elements with the cozy atmosphere of a traditional Japanese bathhouse is really unique and refreshing. Plus, the art style makes the characters look stunning. If you love vampires, beautiful character designs, and a bit of slice-of-life charm, this is definitely worth a read!

A Vampire in the Bathhouse is a fun and jolly manga that combines supernatural comedy and slice-of-life style. The plot revolves around Luka, an exquisite but perpetually fatigued vampire who comes upon the Full Moon bathhouse in search of rest. There, he meets Sakura, the family's hardworking eldest son, who is already preoccupied with running the bathhouse and caring for his younger brother, Ume. Despite initial misunderstandings, Luka's presence adds sudden chaos and sweet moments to their daily lives.

This manga is a great blend of comedy and found-family moments, held by a charming group of characters. The artwork is amazing, Luka's royal aura and Sakura's charm stand out, while Pequeno and Ume steal the stage with their cute relationship. The slice-of-life components are interesting, making ordinary moments at the bathhouse feel just as exciting as the more surreal ones.

Overall, A Vampire in the Bathhouse is a fun, fast-paced read with great characters, amazing artwork, and plenty of funny moments. It's ideal for anyone looking for a warm manga with a supernatural edge. Just don't read it to be extremely intrigued, and don't expect a major romance element.

Thank You NetGalley for the early release copy of A Vampire in the Bathhouse in exchange for an honest review!

I’m new to manga but this looked cute so wanted to give it a try. Thank you NetGalley. This was so silly and unserious, but the characters are all so lovable. I laughed out loud a lot while reading this. It was a really fun read.

This wasn't at all what I thought it was going to be. I was expecting a quirky/silly gay romance, and that's not what I got at all. I feel the overall summary of this story is misleading, as it really only applies to the first chapter of the book. This book is made up of 6 small episodic chapters, which you could read in any order because one story has nothing to do with another besides just having the same characters. There was no romance and the bathhouse was barely even the main setting of the story. There were so many side characters, and the story focused more on Luka's interactions with them than his interactions with Sakura, and that really just wasn't what I was looking for when I picked this up.

Even that first chapter made it seem like there were some sexual undertones to the relationship that was building between Luka and Sakura, and then it was hardly ever explored again. The art was fantastic, and I did laugh quite a bit, but overall I was left feeling pretty disappointed.

I was really hyped for this story because it seemed to have everything I love in a story: vampires and gays sharing one single brain cell.

Initially, I was a bit disappointed because of how episodic and discombobulated it felt, but halfway through I got into the rhythm of it and started enjoying it for its aesthetic beauty when nothing else grabbed my attention..

The best part of this book for me were the illustrations that are beautiful and I'm a bit sad it's not coloured because it would be even more amazing in a buttload of pastels.

I enjoyed the friendship and arc between the main character's younger brother and the vampire demon's pet demon called Pequeno (why would he have a Spanish name, I don't know, but it suits him). I almost wish that the book was told from their povs while we watched the other two brainless fools fall in love because they have more personality and love between each other than whatever that was.

I was willing to give this a three-star rating for the illustrations and some of the plot arcs, such as the emphasis on the beauty of community, but then there was a joke about one character doing something to the other while they were asleep, and that was it for me.

I finished it with a bad taste in my mouth only because I didn't want to DNF two books in a row, and I had already passed the halfway mark, which is a pity because this certainly had a lot of potential and there is obviously a lot of passion and talent behind it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for this DRC.

In this lighthearted, charming, and funny read.

We follow vampire Luka. All powerful, regal, and EXHAUSTED.

To find a way to relax he peeks into the human and see a cozy Japanese bathhouse. He teleports in and gets cozy with the family of the owners.

This is a fun and heartwarming all the characters both human and demon are a fun bunch.

I certainly will be getting a physical copy.

Delightfully fun slice of life about a vampire living and working in a bathhouse run by a pair of brothers and their grandfather. I really enjoyed the sexy silliness of it all. I would be happy to read more of their adventures

This was such a cute little manga that I’m thinking may be yaoi? I definitely felt the vibe between Sakura and Luca!

Luca is a vampire that’s a bit wound tight and just—bored—with life. And then he sees a commercial for a human bathhouse and he decides it intrigues him. Sakura is the eldest son of the owner of Full Moon Baths and the weight of the world rests on his shoulders as he balances taking care of the bathhouse and his younger brother.

Like most manga, we’re just thrown into the world. It feels a bit chaotic at times but it’s also incredibly sweet at parts. I really enjoyed all the friendships as well.

There feels like there will be a romance between Sakura and Luca beyond their pact. And I honestly can’t wait to see what happens next!

What a hilarious and mostly sweet book.
I loved all the characters and their dynamics with each other were fantastic. They made me laugh so many times.
But Pequeno has my whole heart, he’s adorable. I’d like 10 of him, please.
One things I’m a bit sceptical about though, is the way that sex is treated in this book. Yes, it’s great to normalize sex, it is nothing to be ashamed of. But the way it was done, by Luka expecting Sakura to eventually want it, wasn’t it honestly, and to me borders on harassment. Sakura doesn’t seem to feel that way though, so I’m not sure if that’s meant to be flirting. Either way, it’s something to watch out for and also the reason why I cannot give this book five stars.
Still, this is a mostly great and cute book.

Sadly, I DNF'd this. It's just not for me, personally. I can see this being someone else's jam, but it's not what I'm looking for in a manga right now.

Thank you netgalley and publisher for the arc in exchange for the review!

This was a humorous first installment of a manga series and I enjoyed the duality between characters. The entire premise is something I was so interested in, I mean what is not to love about a vampire ending up in the human world and causing chaos while working at a bathhouse?

I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.

I initially wasn't sure what this was going to be and whether it would be my mind of thing, but I had a whole heap of fun.

This is an absolutely adorable and ridiculously silly manga about a vampire that, after getting blackout drunk on blood the night before, heads to. bathhouse in the human realm...and then decides to stay. Hijinks ensue.

Sakura, the eldest son, is left in charge of bathhouse and looking after his younger brother. He's the classic put upon 'straight man' to the whimsical and ridiculous vampire Lula, who is all charm, magic, and demon fish our of water. Their escapades, along with the adorable pairing of Luka's familiar and the younger brother, turn all manner of bathhouse, domestic, and family events and duties into wacky capers.

It's genuinely adorable, utterly ridiculous and a whole lot of fun.

I did find myself flagging just a touch by the end and skimming some of the text, but all in all I had a splendid time.

Great stuff!

Its been a bit since I read any manga but this was a cute and comedic slice of life with supernatural elements. The plot was fun, funny and heartwarming to read!

It's been a while since I read a manga, and this one was a good choice to jump back in.

A cute and cozy read about a vampire staying in a bathhouse. The characters are endearing, and the drawings are amazing.
If you like:
- vampires,
- magic in soft touches,
- found family,
Pick this manga. You will have a great time.

There is a hint of romance in there, but don't expect something huge. The story got a bit confusing at times, and I was expecting something else. I'm not sure if there will be more books, but I might look out for the rest if it's the case.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the e-ARC. This review is my own, and I'm leaving it voluntarily.

Rating: 3.5 stars
I got this manga from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was a quick, fun read! The characters were super sweet and the overall story had a great sense of humor. There’s a cute little hint of romance, and I really loved the friendship that developed between the main characters. The artwork was beautiful — in black and white, which threw me off at first, but it still looked visually very nice.

The story itself got a bit confusing in parts, and I found myself more into the characters than the actual plot. But overall, it was an enjoyable read that gave me a few smiles.

A cute and comedic slice of life with supernatural elements (if you're familiar with other series like the Devil is a Part timer, then the mix is likely one familiar to you). The ending is a little bit abrupt having to wrap up what plot threads there were promising a more expensive story, but on the whole it's nice read that not trying to be that deep but is still pretty to look at and shows off an aspect of Japanese life.

I do think it's disingenuous for this to marketed under the LGBTQIA+ category, though. Yes, the male vampire is down for sex with men, but that's mostly shown in him saying to the bathhouse attendant that they could smash each other to increase the vampire's power. And getting forcibly rejected every time, physically and with an air of the bathhouse attendant feeling harassed by it as a presumed straight guy. In 2025, I think we deserve better rep than a gag manga's stale joke.

This manga is about exactly what it sounds like: a vampire in a bathhouse. This was a quick, easy read, and I thought the art style was gorgeous. There were some humorous moments, but the plot was very slow and wasn't really what I expected it to be. Things started to pick up when Yomi showed up, but I don't think I'd be interested enough to continue reading the series.

Well I have to admit, while I wasn’t quite sure what I was picking up, I didn’t fully imagine this. A Vampire in the Bathhouse is basically what it sounds like. An ancient vampire sees a bathhouse and decides that it is what he needs. So, he basically moves into Full Moon Bathhouse and takes on Sakura as his ‘pact partner’ to which he can drink blood from in exchange for ‘help’ around the bathhouse. Sakura is taking care of the family bathhouse and his little brother by himself; his parents are off somewhere and only his grandparents are around…somewhere. So, he doesn’t seem too reluctant to have Luka suddenly appear and basically move in because his employee went off on paternity leave and he’s trying to do everything himself.

What we get is basically a series of short stories about them and the bathhouse, family outings to things like a festival, the younger brother getting lunch made by Luka for a school trip, the school sport festival, etc. I guess I thought I would get something that had a little more of an overall plot, but it didn’t really seem to be the case. Things seem to pick up a bit with the appearance of Yomi, but overall I thought, for a slice-of-life type manga, this one was a little lacking. The art was good, and the school had some LBGTQ+ representation in it, but it didn’t develop much depth in the first volume. Hopefully it will develop in the next volume.

If you are looking for something a bit light hearted, somewhat comedic, and a bit episodic, this one is for you.
