Just loved this new book in the Evacuee’s series from Cathy Sharp, it is as always is so well written, the characters are lovely and well described, the book follows the story of Georgie Greene and family is just what keeps you reading. From being evacuated as the youngest sibling of the family with his sister and nephew and nieces to the country Georgie gives his promise to his parents he will stay and look after the others. It’s a story of searching, sadness and family that keeps Georgie going and staying in the country with new friends.
My thanks as always to NetGalley and the Publisher HarperCollins UK, HarperFiction | HarperCollins
for the opportunity for the early read.

Georgie Greene is the sweetest little boy that I have ever been introduced to he is thoughtful, kind and caring. I think that is what makes the story even more prominent. I can't imagine how he felt as a child being torn apart from his family and his older sister Kate doesn't have it easy either. I was praying for a happy ending for them all and you will too. A nice historical fiction book.

I have to say, Georgie Greene crept into my heart from the beginning. He was kind, thoughtful, helpful and so much more.
When he is evacuated to the country along with his nephew, who was only a few years younger, Georgie saw it as his job to look after him. Thankfully local farmer Jim Baker sets them both some tasks to keep them busy.
Meanwhile, London is being bombarded with bombs, will their parents/grandparents be safe?
Not forgetting Georgie’s favourite sister Kate, who was a schoolteacher before the schools were closed. Kate has her own problems to deal with but this doesn’t stop her from looking after her mother who’s suffering from bad family news.
Kate herself is dealt some heartbreak, will she recover. Can’t recommend it enough.
Loved this book, read at every opportunity. My favourite character was, no surprise George. Least favourite was Vera who was heartless, even if it was her role. Worthy of more than ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A true heartbreaker.
Georgie Greene evacuated from WW2 Blitz in London is saddened to leave his sister Kate and family behind, finding a place of safety is just the start of his journey.
The promise of becoming a family again remains strong in the years of war ahead.
A totally delight to read.
So heartbreaking and touching.
Will pull at your heartstrings.
