"I come alive when he's with me, like I've been living underwater, drowning, the entire time we’re apart, and now I can finally breathe."

This book was intense, steamy af, and had a lotttttt of tension. It also starts off really strong in the spice department and I am not complaining one bit.
There's just something so sexy about Dr. West. I would gladly volunteer to participate in his ""lair"" no questions asked!!!!
This book hooked me from the start and I just could not put it down. I actually really loved the dynamic between Jessica and Adam. It felt so raw and emotional and the growth these two go through by the end was chef's kiss. The way Adam teaches Jessica to be more assertive and confident + the way Jessica helps Adam through his childhood trauma and his vulnerability. My friggen heart.
I'm all for my morally grey men and Dr. West brings all the unhinged obsession and possessiveness in this book!!

• Forced Proximity
• Doctor x Patient
• Man Obsessed
• Dual POV

Spice level: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.💫

Deeply Examined is the spicy, spicy, spicy dark medical romance of Adam and Jessica. This is a bit different to what I usually read but I still enjoyed it. I liked how protective Adam is of Jessica but he did go a bit overkill with it sometimes. I liked how open hearted Jessica was and that she stood up for herself to Adam when she needed to. I will definitely be taking a look at Lexi Davis’ backlist as this was a nice introduction to her books.

Dnfed at 25 percent.. I wanted to love this book so badly but there was too much and not enough happening at the same time. I love a good dark romance and I don’t mine some obsession but between west and brad.. it was just weird.

This book was amazing. I gave it 5 stars. I read it so fast and it was honestly my favorite book of the year so far.

Dr Adam West has a tortured past, growing up with nothing to become a successful doctor. The only way he can cope is by keeping everyone at a distance...until Jessica. He was obsessed with her in high school, drawn to her light and happiness, but she never noticed him. Then one day she comes into his practice for an exam and his whole world changes.
Wow the spice in this book from the beginning just about burns up the pages lol. Shocking, crazy, and a bit unhinged, Adam is the morally grey obsessive character Jessica should run from, but once he reveals everything from his past his behavior becomes more understandable. That scene when the power goes out just about broke my heart 😭. I'm looking forward to the next book with Jessica's crazy friend Monica!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lexi Davis's "Deeply Examined" is a dark medical romance that explores the intense relationship between a doctor and his patient. The story centers on Jessica, whose routine check-up leads to an unexpected and complex connection with Dr. Adam West. An immediate attraction develops, setting the stage for a complicated dynamic. The story delves into themes of obsession and possessiveness, revealing a shared past between the characters that Jessica is unaware of. As their relationship intensifies, they navigate a perilous boundary where love and control intertwine. This is a dark romance with morally ambiguous characters, the element of forbidden desire, and narratives involving forced proximity. The book also features some very spicy scenes that venture outside of your usual romance book scenes. Go in with an open mind and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Let me start off by saying wooooooo baby! This book was SPICY. This is my first like “taboo” spicy romance.
I genuinely liked this book, at first I was like woah how did we get here so fast, but it grew on me. Some of West’s actions were very questionable but I the author did a great job writing explanations towards the end for that “aha” moment.
I loved how he stepped out of his comfort zone and shared his story. What I loved most of all was the fact that she didn’t make him change who he is. Granted he’s troubled, but he was honest about who he was and that showed he was accepting of it and Jess would need to make a choice. And GAVE her that choice (sort of lol)
If taboo and spicy and everything dirty, dark and nice is your thing? I highly recommend you grab this while you can!

I LOVED THIS ONE! "Deeply Examined" by Lexi Davis is a captivating dark medical romance that delves into the complexities of forbidden love and personal growth. The chemistry between Jessica and Dr. West is palpable, and the narrative is both intense and emotionally charged. Highly recommended for fans of the genre.

Deeply Examined is a dark medical romance. Jessica and Adam's story starts when she goes to her annual exam, or so Jessica thought. She doesn't know that Adam remembers her from high school and had a crush on her that entire time. It's a bit of an odd, creepy, stalkerish situation, but it draws you in and is hard to put down. It's an intriguing story that will continue with Jess and Adam's friends.

2025
“That’s not who I am.I’m a good girl. The regular kind. Not the hot, sexy kind.”

I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know medical kink was a thing, but we listen and we don’t judge. Also, Lexi Davis is one of my automatic read authors. There were parts of the book that just weren’t for me, but there were way more that were completely up my alley. I love Lexi’s writing. She writes these intensely emotional stories with characters that just draw you in. “He falls first” and “grumpy-sunshine” are among my favorite tropes. Throw in some forced proximity and “touch her and die” vibes and you have perfect. I absolutely love Jessica’s kind, sunshiny personality. She’s the perfect balance for Adam’s (Adam West? I see what you did there!) dark, brooding vibe. My heart broke for Adam and now he truly didn’t think he deserved love even while he was putting Jessica first in everything he did. There were times he made mistakes, but most of them were because he didn’t see his own worth. Jessica had been through a lot too and I admire how she never gave up on trusting people and trying to see the best in everyone. While there is a good bit of romance involved, this story does lean a bit more towards erotica than I typically read. But, the story was so well written that I absolutely enjoyed it all the way through.

Jessica goes for her annual exam and Dr. Adam West is her doctor. Odd encounters lead them to start hanging out and Jessica moving in with him when her neighbor gets violent. However, things aren’t what they seem as Adam actually remembers Jessica from high school.

This book is really good and really messed up at the same time. It reminds me of when I read Butcher and Blackbird. You somehow fall in love with morally questionable psychopathic characters. I am excited, however, for the next one with Parker and Monica!

I was initially a little intimidated to read this book. Dark romance isn't my constant cup of tea, but I LOVE Melissa Dymond (Lexi's alter ego) so I told her I'd give it a shot!

And I was very pleasantly surprised!! It was FABULOUS. Dr. West is someone who you will love, hate, and mostly love again. And I absolutely ADORED watching Jessica find her voice and her self-confidence throughout the book. She started as an insecure victim, but by the end of the book she was a bad a$$ FMC worth rooting for!!

This book is described as Grey's Anatomy meets 50 Shades, and although I never read the 50 Shades books, (I watched the movies though ;) ) I wholeheartedly agree!! And I cannot WAIT to read more from Lexi Davis!!

Thank you Lexi/Melissa for a gifted ARC copy of this book, all opinions are my own!!

She had me at "Dark Medical Drama!" And I loved every moment of it! I enjoyed these two main characters very much, and Adam West is a stellar book boyfriend. His broody, cautious, stillness reminding me of his namesake, the OG book boyfriend, Adam from The Love Hypothesis. I would highly recommend this book if the subject matter tweaked your interest, as you will not be disappointed. A 4 Star + rating for my level of enjoyment on the read, however, there were a few three star moments, but they were more structural or along the lines of notes over original content choices.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me with this Arc in exchange for my honest review.

The book throws you in straight at the deep end. I was actually surprised the FMC didn't even question what happened at her appointment at the time, and again the second time. I think in real life anyone would have said something - at the very least asked the question and expressed confusion... the whole thing made me feel a bit awkward... anyway I got over the start and really enjoyed the rest of the book.

The special room very much reminded me of 50 Shades of Gray. I've never read a medical dark romance before so I'd say it was a success. I found it engaging, it flowed well, you really got to know the two main characters and liked them enough to want them to get their HEA.

I think I would have preferred it to have been a bit longer and more detailed in parts - especially back stories. The storytelling was clear and logical. I just wanted MORE. It was however a perfect mix of spice and story and I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick spicy read. Well done Lexi Davis, I look forward to what's coming next!

This was my first book from this author as well as my first medical romance. As a nurse it was intriguing though a little hard to believe. Despite that the contact during exam being far off base from reality, I couldn’t stop reading.

I just finished this book and really enjoyed it!
It was incredibly spicy — the chemistry between the characters was off the charts. Dr West was everything you could want in a romance: insanely hot, brooding, and beautifully complicated. His struggles made him feel so real, and it made the romantic moments even more intense and meaningful. Highly recommend if you love your romance with lots of spice

I don’t have much experience with dark romance but since I was pleasantly surprised with Navessa Allen’s Lights Out, and intrigued with the medical premise of Deeply Examined, I decided to give it a try.

I’m undecided on the genre as a whole but will continue to read from Lexi Davis’s other pen name in sweet & spicy romance.

Both Dr. West and Jessica grew up in a rough area. While Dr. West rebranded himself for success, Jessica stayed put in the local school system as a teacher. Dr. West had a crush on Jessica in high school, but she was out of his league- popular, preppy, beautiful, and a cheerleader. What he never realized was how lost and limited she felt by her roles and expectations.

Jessica and Dr. West couldn’t be more different. Her motivations are based on the love and empathy she has for the people in her life. Dr. West is focused on helping mothers (singularity) and keeps everyone around him at arm’s length.

The story is entertaining, but the plot felt a little thin in some spots. The justification for close proximity didn’t feel right. Jessica didn’t know Dr. West or his true identity so I don’t understand why she would just go with him… especially after growing up and residing in a bad neighborhood. Hello red flags and stranger danger. Instead, I feel like she blindly trusts him based on his profession. It just feels inconsistent with her character history.

Additionally, there is no transition from doctor/patient relationship. Their first physical sexual act while receiving an exam felt too icky for me.

This story excels at is character development. Both characters make great strides in changing for the better. They prompt change in each other and do the work.

The people we love don’t make us better, we love them so much that we want to be better. The author does a job of capturing that.

PS. I also posted my review on Amazon but it hasn't been approved by the website yet, so I can paste the link below.

"Part of me wants to possess her in the most brutal way.
The other part wants to protect her, even from myself.
I wonder which will win?"

If I were to describe this book in one phrase, it would be this: Fifty Shades of Grey meets Grey’s Anatomy. And no, it doesn’t go unnoticed that both titles have the same last name. Coincidence?

It’s been a long time, years even, since I read a Dark Romance book, and Deeply Examined, although I consider it more of a dark-gray than a Dark Romance per se, has been perfect for reconnecting and falling in love again with a genre I missed.

✨️ARC given by Lexi Davis in exchange for an honest review. Thanks for your trust.
