I really enjoyed this book! The chapters were short, the plot was easy to follow, and the twists/surprises (for me) actually left me surprised. I will definitely check out more of Amanda’s writing!

This book conflicted me.
The first 60% seemed to be there to lull you into a false sense of security. And for me it wasn't in the normal good way.
By the time the twists started appearing, I had almost given up, which is a crying shame, as they made the book.
So if you're feeling like me please give the book a chance as I promise it is worth it in the end, and nothing is as it seems.

The Wife's Silence by Amanda McKinney is an unputdownable and compelling thriller full of manipulation, secrets, and twists that will keep you up way too late reading!!
Lucy Greer is desperate to move on from her past. So when she is approached by Thomas Caine offering her a live-in caregiver position for his wife Emilia, she easily accepts. Emilia has had a massive stroke and Lucy's job is to do whatever Emilia needs done. But rather quickly, Lucy begins to see that things in this beautiful house are not at all what they look like. When Lucy learns of the disappearance of the Caine's teenaged son, she suspects that Emilia knows the truth..
This was such a good, fast paced thriller! It does discuss some topics that are sensitive such as: coercive control, manipulation, gaslighting, and infidelity, so just be aware and protect your peace! I was completely engaged with the plot and the narrative was easy to follow. The characters are well developed and I love how the characters all have their own personality and voice. The sense of foreboding throughout was well done and I loved the short punchy chapters that kept me on edge and had me frantically flipping pages! One criticism I have is that you do need to suspend your beliefs a bit but it is well worth it! If you love Freida McFadden, B.A Paris and Daniel Hurst definitely give The Wife's Silence a shot!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Amanda McKinney, and Storm Publishing for this ARC!! Publication date is May 23rd 2025.

The layered suspense, and the promise of revealed secrets, had me glued to the page. The mystery behind Emilia’s silence is so intriguing, and I loved her POV in the past. Lucy’s POV in the present was also entertaining with her being hired by the husband, Thomas, as Emilia’s caregiver. I don’t want to give too much away but fans of popcorn thrillers will love this one.

This was such a good book! From the start this book really grabbed ahold of me and kept me invested. The storyline, the plot, and the twists all made my mind work over time as I tried to think of what could be coming. The betrayal and the suspense, the secrets being kept, and the reveals towards the end blew me away. I am so glad I read this, it's totally worth the time.

A damaged relationship becomes even worse after the baby's arrival, domestic abuse is routine although for those outside of that home their life seems perfect until the baby, now a teenager vanishes. The couple's life disintegrates and he continues to be the "lord" of the house making her always more submissive than before till she has a nervous breakdown and he starts to give her drugs so she stays subdued in her room. When Lucy is hired things start to change, she really cares for the lady she was hired to take care of and she'll do everything in her power to help her. The end of the story is somewhat expected when characters come clean about who they are and what they have done in the past but the story is entertaining and well-written.
I thank the author, her publisher, and NetGalley for this ARC.

This is a fantastic dark psychological thriller. I couldn’t stop reading! The intense, intriguing plot was so compelling and well written. It’s a story full of vengeance, deception, secrets, drama and suspense. It’s an incredible roller coaster ride of twists and turns. Well done

This is a dark & twisted psychological thriller with some turns I didn’t see coming. With deception, revenge, & all the qualities I love in a thriller, The Wife’s Silence is a stunning new novel!

This book is written in chapters of the characters in the book eg. Emilia then/ Emilia now. When lucy lands a job in a big house in the middle of nowhere,, she believes she will be looking after the owners children, but as it happens it isn't,, its James's wife.. lies and deceipt wrap itself around the plot . Can lucy become a trusted confidant to Emilia? What secrets are they hiding???? I was engrossed, I couldnt put it down. Highly recommend

I enjoyed The Wife's Silence. The story has alternating POVs and dueling timelines. I enjoyed how the author used the characters and their POV to add mystery to what happened. This book is a definite page-turner.

"A totally addictive psychological thriller with a heart-stopping twist"
Lucy Greer is in her 40´s, single and living in her car, so a job taking care of a stroke patient with good benefits sounds great. She accepts to live in the ultramodern house of Thomas Caine, famous bladesmith in North Georgia. His wife Emilia has been unable to speak or move for years, and needs a caretaker around 24/7. It all seems too good to be true, and soon Lucy finds out, something is not right in this fancy house. It seems long ago the Caines´ teenage son has got missing and there are more secrets around - and Lucy wants to know, what is going on...
This book really got me hooked from the first pages. I love psychological thrillers and I was really curious about what is going to happen. The story was opening slowly and crowing curiosity, as there were several characters´ pov´s. I knew to wait for the twist to come, and still it surprised me.
I enjoyed reading this and will recommend it for thriller fans. Thank you, Storm Publishing and NetGalley, for the eARC.
Publishing day is today, 23rd May 2025. Go and get yours, if this felt like your book!

This is a great story. Full of intriguing characters and suspense. However, this is extremely similar to her book The Keeper's Closet so I immediately felt like I had already read it and skipped to the end because I knew the twists. If you haven't read that book then this one is perfect for readers who love a jaw dropping plot.

🌟🌟🌟 and a half.
A gripping thriller that's an easy, quick read. Despite its dark subject matter, it's a surprisingly relaxing read, thanks to the authors nicely written prose.
The character development is also well done, making it easy to become invested in the story. With some nice twists that keep you guessing, it's a great page turner.

1⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for an advanced copy of The Wife’s Silence.
Lucy is hired by Thomas to care for his wife Emilia who has suffered a stroke years earlier. When Lucy arrives she feels like something is off with the couple and Thomas is suspicious of Lucy.
This book was just plain bad. The plot was way too far fetched and the characters were all horrible people. I was not a fan at all.

✨️ The team at @thrillerbookloversthepulse are reviewing The Wife's Silence and it is fire !! 🔥 It's definitely one you'll want to grab today !
The Wife's Silence is another unputdownable thriller by the queen of twists. This book had me absolutely hooked from the first page. It was such a fast paced read with its short snippy chapters, multiple POV’s and dual timelines. I truly couldn't flip those pages fast enough to see what was truly going on. The story moves so fast, there's no added fluff, which I absolutely adored. Straight to the point, to the action with no dull moments. McKinney always knows how to reel her readers in and keep them on the edge of their seats.
Although I did figure out something while I was reading, it still didn't hinder my experience of the book. The character development was on point. The descriptions were spot on, making me truly feel like I was there with them and feeling everything. The suspense was constantly building, wondering what would be revealed next. There are many twists and turns that left me shocked !
Overall, this was another fantastic thriller. Fast, entertaining and highly bingeable in one sitting. Took me by surprise and kept me on the edge of my seat. Highly recommend it!
✨️Thank you to @netgalley, @stormpublishing & @amandamckinney for my gifted ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Amanda McKinney delivers another gripping psychological thriller with THE WIFE’S SILENCE. This one had me hooked from the beginning, thanks to her immersive writing style and the emotional depth of the characters—especially our protagonist, Emilia. You feel for Emilia, who is utterly trapped not only physically, but emotionally and psychologically as well, in a her horrid marriage to Thomas. Watching her story play out in our THEN chapters made for an intense, sympathetic read, where we learn the tragic lengths a husband will go to in order to wield his sick control over his family. Thomas is an antagonist whose vileness hides behind a facade of decency and respectability. And Lucy—her vehemence in defending Emilia and the role she plays in Emilia’s journey—added a deeply human element to the story that really grounded the suspense.
The pacing is steady and the atmosphere is unsettling in all the right places. Short chapters help move the plot along at a fabulous pace. There is also a mystery within a mystery in the book as we learn about the sudden disappearance of Emilia’s son, James. And that twist— brilliant, unanticipated, and completely caught me off guard. Wow!!
If you enjoy emotional thrillers with heart and edge, as well as a fabulous twist among twists, this is one to pick up. Another winner from Amanda McKinney!!
I want to thank NetGalley, Amanda McKinney, and Storm Publishing for gifting me the ARC of THE WIFE’S SILENCE! It was such a privilege to read this before publication. And I appreciate you trusting me with an honest review!

Great psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the end. The second book by this author I have read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to ARC this book.

When Lucy Greer arrives at the home where she has been hired as a nanny, she assumed that she would be taking care of a child. Instead, she will be taking care of Emelia, a sixty-three-year-old stroke victim. Having her own room will be a treat as she has been living out of her car. Once hired, she has mostly total control of her patient and begins to believe that there is something strange going on in the house and with Emelia’s care. The only other person in the home is a daily housekeeper, Consuelo. She learns that Emilia’s son, James, left for his high school years ago and was never heard from again. Lucy’s care of Emelia begins to show some positive results, but the medication that Thomas administers seems to be counterproductive. What really happened to Emelia, was it a stroke as Thomas stated, or something more sinister? Consuelo seems to have her own secrets as she and Lucy tread carefully around the facts of their personal lives. A final confrontation with Thomas may lead to some answers for Lucy, but will this benefit Emelia? A decided gothic feel to this story of love and deception. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

The Keeper’s Closet by Amanda McKinney
As I began to read, I felt I had read this book before and perhaps I had but, in a novella, rather than this longer more detailed version. It was just as dark, chilling, and psychologically unnerving this time as the story explored a rather warped interconnected collection of people and their interactions with one another.
What I liked:
* The setting, pace, character development, nonlinear timeline, twists and turns, and conclusion
* The way the character interactions and dynamics were presented
* That more than one character was multi-faceted and not just good or evil
* That I was immersed in the story and wanted to know what would happen next…and how it would all play out
* Having a satisfied feeling on the last page of the book
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Some of the thoughts I had while reading and wondering what it would require to be as self-centered and hedonistic as some of the characters were
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley, Storm Publishing, and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars

This was such a tense and addictive read. I was pulled in right away, and the eerie atmosphere kept me hooked. Lucy’s discoveries made for great twists and I loved seeing all the secrets unravel throughout
