Amanda McKinney does it again! I could not put this down. She sure does know how to build tension!
Lucy just wants to stop living out of her car and takes a job as a caretaker for a woman named Emilia. But she finds there is much more to the job and dark secrets.
From the beginning there was a constant feeling of unease and an eerie atmosphere.
This isn’t just a thriller…it digs deeper into trauma, identity and survival. If you’re looking for something dark, unsettling and twisty… this is one you won’t want to miss.

When I pick up a book by Amanda McKinney, I can always count on an immersive, twisty thriller! In her latest, The Wife’s Silence, I was hooked from the start with a captivating storyline and an atmospheric setting. Lucy is living in her vehicle when she finds a job as a live-in caretaker for a stroke victim named Emilia. Emilia’s attractive husband has a dark side that doesn’t go unnoticed! Even though Emilia doesn’t talk, she seems to have her own way of communicating. The complex characters in this novel continued to surprise me with jaw-dripping twists throughout! Another fantastic novel from @amandamckinneyauthor.

I was in the mood for a zippy thriller and The Wife’s Silence by Amanda McKinney satisfied that. Lucy is down on her luck and is hired by a reclusive, but extremely successful (read wealthy) bladesmith to care for his wife who had a stroke. They are also mourning their son who disappeared many years ago. At first, it may seem like a typical thriller that features a woman who is secluded and shut away in her home, but I did not see the twist coming! I would recommend this especially if you are a Freida McFadden or James Patterson fan, but I actually thought this was even better. I’m looking forward to reading more from the author! Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

The Wife's Silence
By: Amanda Mckinney

4 Stars

This book is one of those that I'd call captivating. From start to finish, it grabs you. Lucy is trying to pick up her life. Move out of her vehicle when
Thomas Caine gives her the job to care for his wife. Soon, Lucy figures out things aren't as perfect in this house as the outside world is led to believe. A missing child. A sick wife. A rich and mean husband. Lucy discovers secrets and lies. She learns that this family is steeped in drama and betrayal. This is a story of what happens when it becomes too much.

This book was captivating and shocking. It was so full of twists and turns that I stayed on the edge of my seat the whole time. Thomas is a character that you just hate. But, his attitude and vindictive ways made this story. Then you have Emelia, locked away in her mind. Lucy is the heroine of her own story.

Overall, this was thrilling and interesting, and an overall good read.

*I want to thank Netgalley and the author for this book in return for my honest review*

Amanda Mckinney did it again! I got sucked into this thriller so hard, I didn’t even realize when I made it to 70%.

The story follows Lucy who took a job as a living care assistant to Thomas Caine’s wife, Emilia. We learn that she had a stroke that now has her restrained to her bed. Lucy becomes quickly skeptical with the situation but tries to get familiar with her job as it provided housing and good pay.

As the story continues we learn there is more than meets the eye, and everyone in that house including the housekeeper has secrets. The twists we see in this book start coming very early on until we get to the absolute twist that I didn’t see coming!

Amanda did a fantastic job at providing multiple POVs and timelines, so the story was fully developed. I felt completely engaged throughout the book as it was a page turner!

Thanks to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for allowing me to read this ARC.

When we first meet Lucy, she is desperate for a job and a place to live that does not have 4 wheels! She interviews for a job taking care of Emilia and is hired as a live-in caretaker. The events that follow are twisty, dark, and mind boggling! I enjoyed this thriller! It was so different from anything I’ve ever read, and the ending was perfect!

Page turner! I had a hard time putting this book down. Every time I thought I knew what was coming- a new twist is revealed.

Girl meets boy, they fall in love, get married, fall in to what might be a routine life. Insert control and manipulation. Insert one night stand, baby, more control and even more manipulation. Fast forward- someone new arrives on the scene and finds things aren’t matching what they were told. Hold on to your seat- here’s where the real secrets and twists start coming. And oh, what secrets they are!

This is the first book I’ve read by Amanda McKinney, but it will certainly not be my last. Thank you Storm Publishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This was the 2nd book I have read by Amanda McKinney and I loved it just as much as the first one I read! She does such a great job writing thrillers that lead readers down such twisty roads! From the start I got similar vibes to when I read both Verity by Colleen Hoover and The Only One Left by Riley Sager.

At the start of this story, Lucy takes a job caring for Thomas Caines wife, Emilia, who he claims is bedridden due to stroke she has. Quickly Lucy becomes suspicious of what is happening in the home and Lucy will discover that not everyone is as they seem!

This story is told through multiple POVs and two different timelines. I was shocked by the twist revealed about 70% of the way through the story and then absolutely never saw the final surprise coming. This as a quick read that I read in less than 24 hours and couldn’t stop once I started!

Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

SYNOPSIS
-Lucy Greer is desperate for a fresh start and lands a job as a live-in caretaker for Emilia Caine, a wealthy woman who’s bedridden and unable to speak after a stroke.
-The house is gorgeous, but something feels off from the start.
-Emilia’s teenage son disappeared years ago, and the mystery still lingers.
-Everyone in the house—Thomas (the husband), the housekeeper, even the ex-wife—seems to be hiding something.
-Emilia might know the truth…but she can’t say a word.
——
MY THOUGHTS
-This one takes a huge suspension of disbelief. Like, don’t ask too many questions or the plot kind of crumbles.
-I love short chapters, and so I liked this aspect of the book. Super easy to fly through.
-But…it was just really predictable. I saw the twists coming a mile away.
-The ending didn’t hit for me. It felt underwhelming.
-It had potential, but didn’t do much to stand out in a genre that’s already packed with similar stories. If you read a lot of thrillers, this one might feel like a blend of ones you’ve already read, but without the punch.
-Not terrible, but definitely forgettable.
—-
TL;DR: ⭐️⭐️A quick read with short chapters, but nothing new for fan of the genre. Predictable plot, flat ending, and you’ll need to suspend reality a bit too much.

I enjoyed the last book from this author so was looking forward to this offering. I am afraid it did not live up to its premise. I found the first half good but the second half was unbelievable in parts. Short chapters made it an easy read and I would definitely give her next one a go. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

Firstly, a big thanks to NetGalley for approving this book. This is my first book by Amanda McKinney, and it definitely won’t be the last.

This book was a total surprise to me. I absolutely devoured it and finished it in 24 hours. It was gripping, fast-paced, and to the point—no dragged-out fluff or unnecessary filler. The plot grabbed me from page one. While I did find a few of the twists a bit predictable, it didn’t lessen my enjoyment one bit. If you’re a fan of Verity or The Wife Upstairs, trust me—you’ll tear through this one too.

THE WIFE'S SILENCE is an incredible novel. From the first chapter, I was hooked. It’s fast-paced and kept me guessing until the very end. If you like books filled with twists and shocking moments, this audiobook is for you!

Many thanks to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for my gifted copy.

The second book of Amanda McKinney's that I've read. The previous being When I Disappear, which I absolutely loved. This one, however, didn't live up to my expectations.

The Wife's Silence is told from multiple points of view and has various plot threads to follow. At times, I did struggle to keep up with it all as there was a lot to remember.

I'm slightly confused by this story. I mean, I flew through it. It's short and pacy chapters kept me turning the page, but at the same time, some parts felt disjointed. It's like they were forgotten about, and suddenly brought up again.

I enjoyed the first half of this book, but as the plot progressed, it became a bit unbelievable and wild. The big reveals left me feeling underwhelmed and confused.

The story is full of unhinged characters all out for themselves, and lots of twists to keep you guessing.

Overall, this was an easy, fast-paced 'popcorn thriller ' to read. For the most part, I did enjoy it. You don't need to think too much about it, and if you don't mind the plot being on the unbelievable side, then this is certainly a book you'd like.

I would recommend you read When I Disappear by this author.

Thank you, Storm Publishing, for my advanced copy.

A psychological thriller that will keep you guessing until the very end. Told in multiple POV, Lucy is hired by Thomas to care for his wife Emilia after she has a stroke (or so he says). Lucy begins to suspect things are not as they seem with Thomas and Emilia and things get really interesting!!!

I read this book one Sunday because I don’t want to put it down. Multiple POV is one of my favorite ways to read a book and this was even more fun because the POV’s were not always reliable. A perfect thriller to enjoy on vacation!

The Wife's Silence by Amanda McKinney is a insane, mad and intense thriller that will suck you into the toxic world of lies, narcissism and carefully crafted manipulation, adding some air-gasping twists on the top.
This is a story that breaks your heart into a thousand pieces before you manage to pick them up. I wish everyone had a Lucy on the side...
I must say I was sceptical at the beginning. It kind of was "not one more Verity type of book, please!" and to my relief, it wasn't!
This is a really intense story told in past and present through multiple POV's and delivers a crazy amount of emotions!

Emilia was confident and happy, but marrying Thomas Caine was the biggest mistake she had made. Unfortunitelly, it was too late to realise this.
In the car living Lucy is happy to accept the role of live-in caretaker for Emilia, who suffered a stroke a few years back.
Famous artist Thomas Caine is a narcissistic piece of sh-t who rules the world.
The Housekeeper Consuelo has been there for 20+ years, and she knows her place...
When all this mixes together, you get a mindblowing, heart-racing roller coaster that leaves you with an open mouth...

Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for this copy!

This is an entertaining and suspenseful domestic thriller! Lucy is hired to care for Emilia who needs a lot of assistance after having suffered a serious stroke. Her husband Thomas is a bit of a celebrity and is busy with his career. Thomas and Emilia didn’t have a conventional marriage and it was worse after their son mysteriously disappeared years ago. As Lucy spends more time at her job the more things seem deceitful in the household. There were a lot of great twists and the pacing was good throughout the book. Add this one to your summer reading list!
