Chilling, Claustrophobic, and Utterly Addictive!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 Stars
Where No One Can Hear You is a psychological thriller that grips you from the very first page and doesn’t let go. J. E. Rowney masterfully builds a tense, isolated atmosphere that made me feel like I was right there—trapped and desperate for answers. Amanda and Sarah’s fear is palpable, the twists are shocking, and the pacing is relentless.
What I loved most was how the narrative kept me guessing—every time I thought I had it figured out, Rowney threw in a clever twist that left me stunned. It’s both emotionally intense and psychologically sharp, making it one of the most memorable thrillers I’ve read this year.
If you’re a fan of thrillers that explore the darker corners of the human mind, this one is not to be missed.
Well done!

Amanda and Sarah find themselves in a terrifying situation; in the woods with a strange man. The unthinkable happens and Amanda wakes up six weeks later with a slab across her neck and little to no answers.
This psychological thriller is one of my favorites that I've read in a long time! It is suspenseful, terrifying, and heartbreaking all wrapped up in one. I flew through it needing to know Sarah's fate.
Thank you NetGalley for this eARC!

This book does not make easy reading, two young girls are attacked in the woods . Amanda is left for dead as her friend is sexually assaulted and her story is documented as she wakes up in intensive care 6 weeks later and through the following period in the hospital and rehabilitation and therapy. It provokes a lot of emotions as you read and as the police investigation progresses and although the crimes are not so graphically described, they are well described from Amanda's point of view so that you get a good understanding of what she has gone through and the continuing feelings that she is dealing with. Although it took me a little while to get into the book, it hooked me in and became a real page turner. Only complaint, I couldn't locate it geographically (country) , jt didn't feel British (though spelling is) ...
Thanks to Net Galley for a great read

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Where No One Can Hear You" and all opinions expressed are my own. This book started off good but then fell flat for me. I know it was more about Amanda and her struggles to get better and maybe it was too much about that. I was waiting for something more suspenseful.

I loved this book and the ending was perfection! Amanda and Sarah are both young teenage girls, best friends, who are kidnapped on their way home from school! They're tortured and we know from the very beginning that Amanda has escaped but is seriously wounded! Does anyone find her? Does she survive? Does she get help in time to save anyone else? These are the important questions that are answered the closer you get to the conclusion. Amanda is not really likeable in the first chapters, mostly due to her severe insecurities but gets stronger as the tale goes further. I was very happy with the conclusion and the realistic teenage voices and emotions! After teaching teenagers for many years, I'd say that these are typical responses throughout the story to events that are happening and would encourage anyone who enjoys thrillers to definitely buy this book NOTE: I've reviewed this on Amazon so far and intend to review it on Goodreads and Bookbub also!

I really loved this original thriller. While I struggled to appreciate Amanda at the beginning of the novel, her development, her story, her strength touched me and I ended up really liking her. The story is exactly well written, gripping, well constructed, and I really liked the psychological aspect. A very, very good read!

This wasn't really my vibe. I skimmed parts and other parts just dragged a bit too much for me. I imagine it was written to be dark and atmospheric whilst still being raw and a bit pushing the boundaries but I just like my fiction a lot more lighthearted and less traumatic lol. It was a decent enough read but it just felt too serious rather than a fun wee fiction to escape the brutalities of real life. That's purely my personal preference though and in no way a reflection of tbe book itsself. It's very well written, it captures that claustrophobic and tension filled atmosphere well and doesn't sugar coat anything. I'm just more of a bubble gum fiction kinda girl

The book started off with great intensity, and I wanted more of a plot twist, but it never came. Felt more like therapy or counseling. Different style and direction which works for the book but not for me. Almost didn't finish because it was repetitive and drawn out.

This book had me hooked! Not sure where I wanted the ending to go, but I was anticipating a big plot twist and it just never came. Some parts were hard to read, so I did have to skim through some of it especially during the assault. This reminded me of an episode of law and order svu!

I liked the story a lot and this was a good read. Usually this type of books are a quick read for me, but this seemed to go slower than typically. I loved that the book didn’t solve every single issue/question and the events sounded realistic. Police does take kid’s complaints as too active imagination, healing after trauma is not easy and quick, etc. However, I skipped some parts, because there were too many elaborate descriptions, too much of main character’s debating/thinking… I understand why the author wrote the book the way it is, but for me some parts were too dragged out and unnecessary. I also had a bit of an issue with the beginning of the and the impression I got about the mother - absent, not caring, not loving, but that was not true (even from the main character’s point of view, it just seemed too negative). That being said, I can find something not logical/too dragged out/imperfect in most books, but my overall experience was really good and I enjoyed my time spent with this book.

I absolutely enjoyes reading this. Will definitely be recommending. Kept me really hooked I'll love to reread again

This excellent novel does not focus on the perpetrator of a really cruel crime but on the victim. Survivors guilt and the long way back to a normal life after such a trauma is the main issue and it's
described in a very relatable way.

This story fo!lows the non verbal recovery of sixteen year old Amanda after her best friend Sarah and herself are involved in a horrific attack, desperate to help the Dectectives locate Sarah Amanda has to learn to communicate in order to share the details of their horrific attack
This was an emotive read it stated off promising but then it just lost its momentum for me and became sluggish and repetitive and felt way to drawn out and lacked pace and drama. Initially

I sped through this one! It was hard to put down! There were moments that felt like too much of a stretch for me......scenarios that didn't seem plausible at times. I still enjoyed it though.

Goodness me, this was such a good book. Highly entertaining. Would definitely recommend to others, that's for sure!

Wow! What a crazy ride this was. Thriller books usually don’t make me emotional, but this one did. What happened to Amanda and Sarah was horrific, but Amanda’s journey to healing was hopeful.

A trauma thriller that starts off well, with suspense and chills, then becomes a long process of recovery from the perspective of the survivor in rehabilitation and therapy. I can see how this can be a validating experience for trauma-survivors, but it was not the book for me. I was hoping for more suspense and thrills, but I could tell by the authors note that this was intended to represent the survivor perspective. Even so, sadly I found the middle very repetitive and slow, where I felt 50% could have been edited out, it was quite frustrating. The ending was sweet. The tone of the book also takes on a YA drama more than a thriller. Also be mindful of the trigger warning of sexual assault against minors.

It was nothing short of an excellent read.
It was surely not what I had expected from a thriller, which usually focuses more on the perpetrator, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would recommend reading the trigger warning list very carefully before starting, since the book had moments where it was extremely dark, but that did nothing but add to the story's impact.
The book was beautifully written, and the narration style made it more immersive. I could feel the characters' emotions: their pain, fears, frustration, and hope.
Being in Amanda's mind, as in the victim, and focusing on her healing journey was so powerful. There wasn't a book that had made me cry as much. Being with Amanda through the attack was scary, disturbing, and gut-wrenching. Being with her through her recovery was a mix of pain and hope. And being with her at the end was a reminder that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel, sunshine after the storm.
If you're interested in a story that focuses on the victim's trauma, their path of healing, and finding purpose in life beyond the survivor's guilt, this is the book for you. I strongly recommend it.

*Where No One Can Hear You* is a chilling, emotionally intense thriller that delves deep into the trauma of survival and the haunting silence that follows. Amanda’s struggle to piece together her broken memories while grappling with the loss of her best friend creates a tense, gripping atmosphere. With every page, the fear builds—not just from the physical threat, but from the terrifying realization that the most important truth might be locked away in the silence she can’t break.

I love the POV in this book. We are able to feel the hurt and pain that Amanda feels and yelling to find the answers she needs to solve this case. I am a big Thriller read and like always JE Rowney took. it. there. I devoured this and loved every minute!
