Taylor Blake is...unusual. In more ways than one. She is being raised by a very cool single mother who does tik toks, has an unknown sperm donor for a father, and BFFs who're both gay AND a couple!
Yet Taylor thinks that the most unusual thing about her is the fact that she is one of the few girls in her class at school (or so she suspects) who have never been kissed! As a result, she risks becoming a little obsessed with orchestrating first kiss...
When some French students come over for a week long exchange program and she accidentally gets a male student as her exchange partner, Taylor thinks that her problem is about to be solved. But she is about to get a lot more than she bargained for!
This is a cute, humorous read with likeable protagonists and an appealing intergenerational cast of characters. Likely to be a big hit with the target readership, it gets an easy 3.5 stars.

Having loved all the books I have read by Laura Jane Williams, I was excited to see she was coming out with a middle grade! As I work with 11-18 year olds, I’m always checking out middle grades too, and safe to say I will be trying to get a copy in for the library!
I thought this book was fun, and shows teenagers in a positive way for readers to be able to relate. This book explored first relationships and first kisses and new experiences, and embarrassing ones! These are all things teenagers do go through, I certainly remember my ten years! Although there were parts where I thought ‘oh no Taylor that’s slightly cringy’ - it iust shows how realistically Taylor and her friends were written, because let’s face it we all made cringe or bad or embarrassing decisions as teens.
I really enjoyed Taylor Blake is a Legend, and I am so so excited for the sequel, Taylor Blake Seizes The Day which comes out Spring 2025!!!
