I loved the story and found it was so easy to read. There was a good combination of mystery and romance. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I am looking forward to her future releases!

Thank you to Net Galley and Tasha Coryell for an advanced copy of “Matchmaking for Psychopaths”.

I read “Love Letters to a Serial Killer” last year and devoured it!! I was so excited to be selected to read her upcoming release.

“Matchmaking for Psychopaths” is the perfect blend of my favorite attributes of comedy, horror and thriller all rolled into one novel. We follow Lexie as she navigates the aftermath of her fiancé leaving her for her best friend on her birthday. Soon after, her former fiancé, is presumed dead and someone is making sure she knows it to be true. But who in her life is responsible? The former best friend? The new friend she’s made? Or the new man trying to become her new love interest? Lexie has worked so hard to create a new identity for herself and keep her past hidden. But maybe her past isn’t hidden as well as she thought it was after all.

This book was such a fun read that will keep you laughing and guessing what will happen next at the same time.

I loved Tasha's previous book - Love Letters to a Serial Killer - and so was thrilled when I received an early copy of this. But it didn't quite live up to my expectations.

I was expecting something a bit more morbid. It did get there eventually, but it is a very slow burn, and I think I would have liked it to come in a bit earlier. I know we have to build the story and the characters up, edge us into that psychological thriller genre, but I think it would have held my attention more if it had come in earlier.

And this leads me into my point that the pacing is off. Some of it is very slow and drawn out, and other bits rushed, particularly towards the end, things just seem to work out really quickly and lacks a bit of depth.

As bizarre as it sounds, there seemed to be nothing happening, but at the same time there was too much happening. It was busy but lacked focus.

I did love our main character of Alexandra though. She was fabulous. There are a lot of other characters, some more prominent than others and some more likeable than others, but Alex was who I was drawn to on every single page.

This is less about what happens and more about the people behind the term 'psychopath'. Usually I would say I prefer character development over plot, but this didn't really have either, for me.

I definitely preferred Love Letters to a Serial Killer, that was more tense and fun. Whilst this one is enjoyable and I did like reading it, it's more....it's flatter. It is still good but it was missing something, it was missing that spark of magic she gave us in her previous book.

I absolutely flew through this book. Lots of twists, lots of thrills and a bit of.. dare I call it romance? I would recommend to anyone after a quick fun read

What a wild, twisted ride! I really enjoyed the dark nature of this book. I found myself rooting for Lexie even when she made some exceedingly questionable decisions. The book was filled with flawed characters, some likeable and some really dislikable (in the best way as it’s good to have some people to hate on!) A fun (in a very dark, twisted way!) & engaging read.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Orion publishing group for this ARC through NetGalley.

‘Matchmaking for Psychopaths’ by Tasha Coryell begins with Alexandra getting dumped by her fiancé… on her birthday… because he’s in love with her best friend! While that sounds like pretty evil behaviour, her now-ex-fiancé and new frenemy don’t even make the top ten most psychopathic people she’s encountered: With her baggage-laden past and unusual career - a literal matchmaker for people on the psychopathy spectrum - nothing surprises her any more, least of all the dashing gentleman she meets while reeling from the brutal break-up…

Alexandra was an interesting and mysterious character, and had a unique voice full of dry wit. There were various unpredictable twists and multiple intriguing supporting characters. Since I found this almost as addictive as Coryell’s debut, this gets four starts from me.

I received a Digital Review Copy of this book from the publisher Orion Publishing Group via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Alexandra finds out on her birthday that her best friend has been having an affair with her fiancé. Never mind. She works at dating agency for psychopaths, the kind of thing that is a niche job, but could be an even bigger one due to company expansion. Can she get the job, find true love and escape a dark past?

If the book sounds original, you’d be surprised. It’s nothing new. It’s what I would call a gearshifter, where the genre changes in the course of the narrative. There have been books in more recent years that have done it. And here, it alternates between being a fluffy romantic book (dates, breakups and cupcakes) with a dark romance (a murder where someone proves their love by literally giving someone their heart).

Sadly, the jarring shift in tone doesn’t fit. It’s not romantic enough, the darkness overwhelms the fluff. The concept of romance/serial killing has been done much better in another book earlier this year. The author of which is listed on the book’s blurb. I’ll leave you to discover which one. This is published by Orion on 17th July and I thank them for a preview copy. #matchmakingforpsyschopaths.

Thank you to NetGalley and Orion Pub Group for this ARC.

Lexie has had a very troubled childhood. Her parents were a neglectful serial killer couple luring women home and murdering them while Lexie slept in the next room. After they were captured and her father killed in prison, Lexie tried to reinvent herself, changing her last name and acquiring a traditional doctor fiancé. She spends her free time watching reality shows like the fictional "Love on the Lake", preferably with bestie Molly.

She also has a job in a matchmaking agency called Better Love. The twist is that her clientele all seem to be psychopaths. In fact the title for this book could be called "Everyone's a Psychopath". But everyone deserves love, even psychopathic serial killers, right?

When her fiancé Noah cheats on her with her best friend Molly she feels the double betrayal keenly, but is still intent on winning Noah back. Then two new people come into her life via the matchmaking business - Aidan who is extraordinaryly interested in her romantically, and Rebecca who wants to be her friend and is a member of the Children of Murdered Parents (COMP) support group, and they both use extremely psychopathic and stalkerish methods to get what they want. Why has Noah suddenly disappeared? Is Lexie in danger or is she looking at her Happy Ever After? Maybe getting body parts of your former lover as a present is a nice touch?

This is a darkly funny story of obsession with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader wildly entertained. We gradually peel back the lid on childhood trauma and long buried secrets that don't excuse but explain a lot of things. The matter-of-fact acceptance of psychopaths in her life as a normal thing makes Lexie a standout character, as well as the differentiation between "good and bad psychopaths". Lexie's parents and colleague Nicole definitely are the latter, but the jury is out on Aiden and Rebecca.

The plot is an insane mixture of murders, laughs and a wedding, and what more could you want? I'd recommend this as a pacy thriller/dark Rom-Com that always keeps you on your toes and questions your own morals, plus often comes out with on the nose observations like this:
"Hysteria was another word for feelings except it specifically applied to feelings that men disliked. It created an impossible bind. Women weren’t allowed to express displeasure, heartbreak, or suggest that any man had wronged her."
Highly recommended, even if you don't have psychopaths in your life. For me, this is better than the author's first novel.

I breezed through this book! It was just the right amount of darkness, mystery, and romance to have me hanging on every last word. Each time I thought I had the story figured out, another twist would come.
This was such an interesting dive into the mind of psychopaths, as well as being incredibly entertaining. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you so much to Orion for the arc via NetGalley and for giving me the opportunity to share my honest thoughts on this book.

Such a great idea for a book - psychopaths are looking for love as much as anyone else, so why not dedicate your dating agency to fulfilling their needs? Lexi hasn't had a normal start to life; her parents are infamous serial killers and she has done everything to escape being recognised, changing her name, her appearance, her location.

She enjoys her job working in the bespoke match making bureau although her own love life isn't what she thought it would be - rather than proposing to her on her birthday, Lexi's boyfriend decides to tell her he is sleeping with her best (and only) friend.

When she hears the bombshell, Lexi hits the town, joining a group of revellers. She hits it off with Aiden, and they have a wild night together. When Aiden turns up at Lexi's dating agency the next day, she doesn't know what to do - confess that she's met him before, or try and find him a romantic match? Will another new client Rebecca be a good match - or could Rebecca be a better friend for Lexi?

Its a pacey black comedy with some big issues at the heart of it and some truly unforgettable moments.

I loved everything about Matchmaking for Psychopaths by Tasha Coryell. I thought it was a pacy and fun thriller.

Lexie’s fiancé , Noah, announces at her Birthday Dinner that he’s leaving her for her best friend. She loses the two most important people in her life, leaving a gaping hole in her life and she’s left feeling both alone and lonely.

Lexie tries to fill her time and life and it’s made easier when she befriends the beautiful Rebecca and meets the handsome Aiden. Both are actually her clients of hers from the matchmaking service that she works at. Strictly speaking, she should not be socialising with clients, but that just makes it more exciting.

The story moves at a good pace as Lexie tries to fill her time with her job and navigate new friendships and discover what happened with Noah. As the story progresses Lexie’s childhood and past is also revealed.

The book packs punch and there are twists and turns that I didn’t see coming.

I can’t wait to read more books by Tasha Coryell.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, Orion Publishing Group, for making this e-ARC available to me in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This was such a fun read, I was really intrigued by the premise and found it really easy to sit and read in one sitting. I found myself rooting for what are arguably some very morally corrupt people, and against the “good guys”. I definitely recommend it!

This one is definitely a winner! Such a fun and twisty combination of a romantic comedy and mystery/thriller/serial killer story. After growing up with killers for parents who didn’t pay her much attention, Lexie finds solace in reality shows and matchmaking. She ends up working for a matchmaking company who helps psychopaths find love, and finds out her fiance is cheating on her with her bestie (yikes). After her no good fiance winds up dead (too bad so sad right?), the story just goes off the rails but in the best way. This book was honestly hilarious and insane and I couldn’t put it down.

Having loved Tasha Coryell's previous book "Love Letters to a Serial Killer" (one of my fave titles of 2024!), I was extremely excited to get the chance to read her new book.

I was hooked straight away - the sort of "red herring" start of Lexie's partner leaving her for her best friend a few weeks before her wedding, and the gruesome discovery she gets given on her wedding day, this story did not go where I thought it would based on that start and the title. Instead, I was treated to a completely bizarre and gripping world of death, love, obsession, family drama (to put it lightly), murder, and the dark dark world of trying to find your soulmate in the modern world.

Fab, and once again - I can't wait to read more from Tasha!

I loved the author's debut and this was just as strong. This is a clever and sharply written mash up of the rom-com and serial killer books genre that shouldn't work but. It's both funny and compelling to read. The observations are sharply written and astute. I love how the writer made me root for some awful people.

This is a skillfully written and entertaining follow-up.

This book was a hilarious take on psychopaths looking for love.

Lexie grew up as the daughter of serial killers, so absorbed in their own love for one another she was often neglected. She was desperate for the love she desired and found comfort in reality tv shows surrounding love.

She has gone on to work for a matchmaking company where her specialty is finding love for psychopaths.

Her life seems to be playing out how she had always hoped until her fiancée and best friend break the news to her that they are in love. When she discovers her fiancée is dead, what unfolds is a tale of mystery, new found love and acceptance.

This book was a fantastic popcorn thriller and had me laughing the whole way through! It was the perfect dark, twisty “easy read” thriller that played out in my mind like a movie. I thought the combination of darker topics with the humour it brought was executed so well!

I look forward to reading other books by this author!
