I picked up “Matchmaking for Psychopaths” because the premise sounded so offbeat and fun—combining dark humour, romance, and a hint of thriller, all wrapped up in a quirky concept. As someone who enjoys thrillers about psychopaths and loves a good rom-com, I thought this would be right up my alley. And to some an extent, it was.
The story kicks off with Alexandra’s world crashing down—her fiancé dumps her on her birthday, and not just that, he runs off with her best friend. Ouch. Alexandra is a fascinating character—wry, sharp, and carrying a lot of emotional baggage from her past. Her job as a matchmaker for people on the psychopathy spectrum is as unique as it is intriguing, and I appreciated the satirical edge Coryell brings to her profession. Her dry wit kept me hooked, and I liked how she navigated her complicated personal life amidst a backdrop of dark secrets.
However, I have to admit that the book dragged a bit in the middle. The pacing felt uneven, with some sections feeling slow and a lot of repetition that made me lose interest at times. I also wish there had been more detail about the dating agency itself—more about how it operates and the kinds of clients she encounters—because that was a really interesting aspect that felt underdeveloped.
The story does a bit of a genre shuffle—sometimes it’s fluffy and light with dates and cupcakes, then suddenly it veers into darker territory with hints of murder and obsession. The tonal shifts were jarring; the dark, murderous subplot felt like it overwhelmed the more playful romantic elements, which made it hard for me to fully invest in either side. Honestly, the blend of romance and serial killing felt a bit forced.
Despite these flaws, I found myself genuinely intrigued by the twists and the supporting characters, who added layers of complexity and unpredictability. Alexandra’s journey of trying to find love, escape her dark past, and navigate her complicated relationships kept me reading until the very end. I appreciated her voice—witty, dry, and relatable—and I can see why her perspective appeals to many.
In the end, I’d say “Matchmaking for Psychopaths” is an uneven but original read. It’s not perfect, and the tonal shifts might not be for everyone, but if you enjoy dark humour, quirky premises, and a heroine who’s as smart and sarcastic as she is vulnerable, this might be worth a shot.

When I came across this book on Netgalley, the premises of this book was so promising that I had to request for it and fortunately I was approved a copy. But little did I know that I would be disappointed. I wasn’t expecting this book to turn out the way it did. Though, the plot had potential but that was not enough to make me love this book.
I have read a lot of readers out there describe this book as a fun, quirky, rom-com, and a binge worthy book but I failed to understand how something so sad, dark and depressing could be fun. There was little to no romance and for the comedy, it failed to put a smile on my face. How was I supposed to have fun, when there were creepy stuff like murders happening, body parts being chopped up and delivered as cute little gifts? Yes, definitely this book would have made a good thriller -had it being one.
However, this book started out well, but soon it was all over the place, the writing was so repetitive, I completely lost track of how times Lexie told us that her parents were serial killers, abandoned her or forgot her birthday. There was so much of internal monologue that at times, I lost track of what was actually going on. Some moments were just over to the top-like Lexie and Aidan having sex in the plane and later Aidan claiming that he couldn’t even get on his knees while proposing. Like, dude, come on—you just had sex in that plane some days back. And that wasn’t even the worst part, the ending which I hoped would make me love this book was completely bizarre.
I’m surprised that I actually finished it. This book wasn’t a right fit for me..

Matchmaking for Psychopaths is a darkly funny and original thriller with an interesting twist. Sharp writing, suspenseful pacing, and a sly sense of humor made this a smart, unsettling, and addictive read.

Totally entertaining! Yes there are a few (or maybe more?) bodies, body parts but all Lexie is looking for is finding perfect matches for her clients (who are psychopaths, but they deserve a happy ending too! lol) and landing the perfect happy ending for herself with her fiancé Noah. In between binge watching trashy reality shows with her best friend Molly, working at Better Love (with a good success rate), it seems like everything is coming up with roses. So, I must admit it was easy to like Lexie and her optimism and wish the worst on Noah when he breaks up with her (on her birthday for goodness sake!) to shack up with her best friend. She is totally adorable (maybe a bit unreliable) despite her very dark childhood and though some of her actions are questionable, I like how she kept her calm and reasoning when unexpected body parts show up on her front step, or when that twist shows up at the end (totally did not see that, but it was great)!
This is a totally wild story, lots of dark humor, trashy tv shows and romantic movies (important to Lexie as a grounding mechanism!) mysterious flowers and valentine tiny towns (complete with body parts!) and of course finding true love with the one that completes you and loves you back, even the darkest parts of you and learning to love your real self as well. lol! Wishing all the best for Lexie and her true love, and not too many bodies (unless they really deserve it!)

A unique storyline, a chilling thriller with some dark humour throughout! Very enjoyable. Thank you for the opportunity to read this prior to release

Alexandra, who works matchmaking those on the psychopathy scale, thinks she has found love, so is shocked when her fiancé says he leaving her for her best friend. With her world imploded she is thrown a lifeline when she becomes friends with Rebecca, but when those around her seem to be killed suspiciously, she wonders if this friendship is a match made in hell.
This is my first book by this author but the concept sounded quirky and a lot of fun so I wanted to read. I find thrillers about psychopaths intriguing and enjoy the odd rom com, so having these combined sounded like just my sort of thing. This started off entertaining enough, however I had mixed feelings by the end.
The story was slow paced and dragged quite a lot throughout, which meant that my interest wasn’t always held and I would also have liked to see more around the dating agency itself. I found there was a lot of repetition and different things going on at once, which I wasn’t that keen on. The concept itself however kept me reading and was original. Even though this book wasn’t fully for me I can see a lot of people rating this highly, especially those who like a thriller full of dark humour with a difference. Thanks to NetGalley and the published for this copy in return for an honest review.

This book is twisty, hilarious, and strangely tender especially when the lines blur between romance, danger, and obsession, and suddenly you’re questioning everyone’s sanity, including your own.

A chilling fun fast paced thriller that touches on topics of identity and obsession. Really unique and also adore the cover!! Definitely recommend

Who doesn’t love a fun murder mystery! This was such an entertaining read, dark with romance and revenge. , how could you possibly go wrong.
Lexie was such a brilliant character. She was living her perfect life, a job as a matchmaker that she loved and engaged to be married. It was a far cry from her childhood which we learn about slowly throughout the story. But on her birthday her dreams are shattered by her fiancée and best friend who declare that they are in love. This sends Lexie spiralling and when the fun begins.
Plenty of twists, dark secrets and more make this such a page turner. I had so much fun getting to know Lexie , she made me laugh and tore at the heartstrings as well.
Out on July 17th, thank you Orion Publishing for my advanced copy to read.

Ha! This was a very entertaining and enjoyable read!! It's such an easy read, definitely exceeded my expectations going only by the synopsis of the book, I really got in to it straight away. The writing has comical elements to it and also makes you feel like you're reading something from a friend!!
I loved the character development with our FMC, I also loved the dynamic of all the characters and their relationships towards the FMC! Everyone is quirky and unhinged in some way or other 🤣 I really enjoyed this read!
The development of the plot and side plots really gripped me and held my attention, would definitely recommend! The big plot twist wasn't super shocking but I found it was all equally enjoyable and the journey you went through to get there was what it's all about!

Actually loved this so much. It has all the best elements thrown together and packaged perfectly. It is quirky and gory but with a tongue in cheek and matter of fact blasé attitude which (worryingly!) makes all the madness seem oh so normal. The pace is fast and draws you in straight away with lots of recognisable scenarios such as the break up of a relationship and your work colleague dynamics which are all relatable you find a certain empathy with the main character. There is the shock factor of her traumatic childhood which lulls you into a false sense of security and you admire her relative normality and the life she has carved out for herself, but then it all gently and subtly starts to go a bit off kilter…
I’m not going to do any spoilers but I’d wholeheartedly recommend this for the gore festers who don’t take things too seriously. Cliche alert but I really struggled to put this down!

Give me more books like this, I had a lot of fun
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This was such a fun read!
Ever since I read Love Letters To A Serial Killer, I knew this author would be somebody to watch out for. I am so happy to be proven right. I loved this book, it was so entertaining, so vengeful and checked a lot of boxes. Humour? Check. Psychological thriller? Check. Organic romance? Check check check. From the plot to the characters, this was written with readers being scandalised and then having such fun with it.

First of all I would like to say thank to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I did initially struggle to get into this story but I did leave it and come back to it and was glad I did because it was a wild ride. I did struggle with the pacing as seemed to drag but was also quite rushed in places however the plot managed to make up for it.
There is a mixture of comedy, romance and thriller all wrapped into this one book and it is worth pushing through to finish just so you can enjoy the wild ride this character goes through, after all she did pick a job as matchmaking for psychopaths so is bound to find trouble at some point.

Lexie thinks she has the ideal life, a doctor fiance, a house, but she has secrets. These will all be revealed when a shocking turn of events start to unravel the gruesome secrets of her past. A somewhat “coming of age” “self love story” where the protagonist realises that she can in fact have it all, even without hiding who she truly is.
A rom com with a murderous twist. Proof that even the people who feel like they are too strange to love can indeed find their match. Twisty and funny. Ideal for people who love weird girl books but also love reality TV. Weirdly charming protagonist, really gets you in to the mind of these characters, and you will end up comparing some of these characters to people you know im sure. Overall a strong second book from Tasha Coryell, i flew through this book and didnt want to put it down. Quick and easy read, definitely worth reading for people who love true crime and the idea of soulmates. Honestly i cant believe this is only her second book, i absolutely loved the writing style and it completely sucked me in and i absolutely had to finish this in one sitting. I will be waiting eagerly for her next book!

yes i admit it. im here for a madness in the best of ways genre that has come to light over time. some true chaos in the best of ways type books. with flawed and grey areas in their buckets but ones you know are far enough from you deciding over the morals of it so you can simply enjoy the fun of it without asking yourself " does it make me bad for liking such things" haha. but mind, only when done well. when done well they are whip smart and clever pieces of writing. i am therefore so glad to say that Tasha has done this one exquisitely.
hmm how to find love when you happen to be a psychopath? well enter the world of Lexie who will do just that for you. shes currently wining at life both at work and at home. for tonight her love she is sure is about to propose to her over dinner. oh dear Lexie you really should not count your chickens because actually Lexie's boyfriend is about to declare his love for her best friend. and there shall now be no more the two of them but more like the two of THEM.
So what should Lexie do now? well, lost and alone she does probably the one major thing she definitely shouldn't do. and that is makes friends with one of her clients. Lexie! do you know who your clients are???
but then things start happening which makes her question this friendship with Rebecca. you know just the sudden death of her boyfriend is more than a little concerning.
dont take things too seriously and just come along for a wild and exciting ride with this book.

A matchmaking romance book with psychopaths, what’s not to love?
I really don’t want to spill any details but there’s a lot of comedy, some twisty psychologic thriller, romance, flawed characters (duh), murder mystery, friendship, reality TV and sooooo many psychopaths. I did figure out some of the twists but I didn’t mind because the ride was so entertaining anyway. 4.5
Tasha Coryell is now on my auto-read-author-list.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Oh my word this was such a good read. What can be better than a book filled with mystery and also one that had me laughing out loud in places and of course add a touch of romance and you have the perfect read. I think I’ve found ,my new favourite author.

I loved the story and found it was so easy to read. There was a good combination of mystery and romance. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. I am looking forward to her future releases!

Thank you to Net Galley and Tasha Coryell for an advanced copy of “Matchmaking for Psychopaths”.
I read “Love Letters to a Serial Killer” last year and devoured it!! I was so excited to be selected to read her upcoming release.
“Matchmaking for Psychopaths” is the perfect blend of my favorite attributes of comedy, horror and thriller all rolled into one novel. We follow Lexie as she navigates the aftermath of her fiancé leaving her for her best friend on her birthday. Soon after, her former fiancé, is presumed dead and someone is making sure she knows it to be true. But who in her life is responsible? The former best friend? The new friend she’s made? Or the new man trying to become her new love interest? Lexie has worked so hard to create a new identity for herself and keep her past hidden. But maybe her past isn’t hidden as well as she thought it was after all.
This book was such a fun read that will keep you laughing and guessing what will happen next at the same time.
