I love a Nora Roberts book. I do wonder where the ideas come from as this one is seriously dark. Sloan is on a long road back to healthy, while doing so she moves back home and finds everything she wants and didn’t know she needed in life. When she finds a connection to missing people she can’t let it drop and is determined to find out what happened to them. A great read as always

I mainly read thrillers and mysteries, but sometimes I like a more mellow palate cleanser, and this really entertained me! I haven't read much by Ms Roberts but really enjoy those I do. Recommended for anyone who loves a good read.

Several things struck me when I read this book... firstly, how much I enjoy romantic suspense. I claim I hate romance novels but it was the romance element here I loved the most. Perhaps I enjoy romance but don't want it shoved down my throat... I'm not sure. But [romantic suspense] is something Nora Roberts does very well.

She also is brilliant at creating and reflecting family relationships. In her novels they're often extremely close, which Sloan's family is here - supporting her after she's shot on duty. Or, like Noah—big city finance guy-turned small town handyman—whose parents are toxic.

It's pretty obvious where this is going but I enjoyed the romance between Sloan's sister and Noah's brother - both likeable support characters but I loved the warmth with which Roberts imbues in Sloan and Noah's relationship and the wider fro-mance (made-up word referencing the relationship between Sloan's entire family and Noah and his brother).

I was less enamoured with the suspense side of things and felt a little more backstory to the two perpetrators would have been handy. I wasn't sure of the genesis of their psychopathy so I struggled a little with that element.

I should also mention I'm booked in for a cardioversion to get my heart back into sinus rhythm after 4 weeks of atrial fibrillation, so reading about people being targeted because they've been revived (and Sloan being zapped back to life) was a little freaky.

However I really enjoyed this and, though it's long, I read it in a sitting cos I didn't want to stop. It feels like it's been a while between romantic suspense novels (or Nora Roberts) so I need to rectify that.

An absorbing standalone centred around wounded police officer Sloan Cooper who is back in her hometown recuperating from a near fatal shooting. When a woman was reported missing something about the case caught the attention of a bored Sloan and the more she questioned events, the more intrigued she became until looking into other seemingly random disappearances across three states with no apparent similarities, she uncovers a connection, one that strikes a little too close to home for comfort.

The Queen of romantic suspense has done it again, giving readers a fantastic romantic suspense novel balancing out the intrigue without skimping on all the feels and emotions with a love story of found family, you don’t just read her books but fall headfirst into them with each new release better than the last. Hidden Nature had everything I love in a book. A picturesque smalltown setting, a gripping plot filled with mystery, intrigue, danger, and suspense that builds throughout the story and of course wonderful characters not only with the hero and heroine but the secondary characters as well. Sloan and Noah’s relationship was slowburn, initially more of a ‘friends with benefits’ situation, both had just made major changes in their lives so weren’t in the market for serious until love snuck up on them and with Sloan came her loving family, something that had been missing in Noah’s life. They were a great partnership with Noah acting as a sounding board for Sloan as well as offering his own insights and as Sloan hunted them, interspersed throughout the story were glimpses into the everyday lives of the protagonists. Yes, you know right from the beginning who they are but then again this isn’t a whodunnit.

This is a great read.
As a Police Officer Sloan knows the dangers that people face each day, but when she’s shot in the chest, it knocks her for six.
The physical recuperation takes it toll but she has a loving and supportive family to help her.
While she’s on leave, recovering, she spots an intriguing case and starts digging. A woman was abducted from a car park and never seen again, and it seems other people gone missing recently too.
She’s given permission to look into this further and while she’s getting to know Nash, a newcomer to the area, she uses him to bounce ideas off.
We also have chapters from the couple taking people the streets and they’re clearly disturbed.
This is a gripping read with a sprinkling of romance, that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Little Brown Book Group for the opportunity to read this book.

Hidden Nature is a fantastic story. It has likeable characters, romance and twists and turns which all add to the tension. It is classic Nora Roberts and that is why I enjoyed it so much - I flew through the pages and just could not put it down.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK for my ARC.

Finally a book I couldn’t stop reading (it’s been a while) Hidden Nature starts with a bang, quite literally when the main character officer Sloan is shot in a robbery and she’s left fighting for her life, she then faces a long, slow journey back to health so she heads back to her parents home to recuperate, but her officer mind can not switch off and soon she is looking into the strange case of a missing woman who has disappeared without a trace.
What I like about Nora Roberts novels is she has a little of everything, intrigue, romance, humour & sorrow, her stories grab you from the beginning and do not let up to the end. My only niggle with Hidden Nature is the end was rather quick. But it would make a great tv series.

Just… WOW! I loved every single word written in this wonderful book. I am a huge fan of thrillers, police procedurals and I like romance when it is about genuine human connection and depth of feeling, rather than romantic fluff. This book ticked every box and so much more.

When serving police officer, Sloan, is fatally wounded, she observes her own body being worked on by medics and also sees her police partner desperately waiting for news. She can’t leave them now. While she recuperates at her parent’s lakeside home, Sloan re-evaluates what is important in her life.

Brothers, Nash and Theo, have walked away from their high roller lives in NYC for a complete change of lifestyle.

Clara and Sam are focused on doing “God’s work”, aka abducting and murdering people!

The character development is exemplary and the writing is so immersive that I sometimes re-read bits to completely take in the beauty of the words. This is so not me! I am a speedy reader and tend to fly through books, but I really took time with this gorgeous story. I loved it!

5 ⭐️ Thanks to Netgalley, Nora Roberts and Little, Brown for an ARC of this book.

Wow. Nora Roberts has managed to write such an intriguing book, it posses the question is there life after death. Young officer Sloan is shot while on duty and nearly dies on the operating table. The first part of the book chronicles her struggle to fitness both physically and mentally. Its while she is going through this struggle that she stumbles on a missing person report that intrigues her

The protagonist believes in life after death and its her mission to find reliable proof that its exists, come what may..

Wonderful writing, characters are so outstandingly realistic its easy to believe and sink into. the story.

I found myself totally immersed in following Sloan’s recovery from a gunshot wound, her endeavours solving the mystery of numerous missing persons whilst getting to know her new neighbours and living back in her hometown.
Full of suspense with well drawn characters and a story of cult mentality. Absolutely recommend.

Hidden Nature is a book I found hard to put down. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review it before publication.
The book gets off to a dramatic start when Sloan, our main character, is shot on her way home from work. Having walked into a bungled robbery, Sloan is shot in the chest. She survives, and is shocked back to life, but with a painful recovery to come she moves back to her parents’ home.
Determined to get back to doing what she loves Sloan works hard at her rehabilitation. But the need to help others runs deep…and when she hears of a woman going missing from a nearby town she can’t help but be curious.
Sloan uses her down time to find out a little more about the missing woman, and she slowly uncovers what she thinks might be a link between this abduction and a number of other cases in nearby states.
Thanks to the way the book is written we know a little more of what Sloan is coming up against…and it definitely becomes a case of someone getting a little too close for comfort.

Ñora Roberts latest standalone novel follows Slian a Natural Resources officer. Sloan was shot during a robbery at a store. Months of recovery find her at home, taking stock and re-evaluating her life. Deciding to re-settle at home she buys a small house.
Two brothers move nearby and Sloan and her sister Drea find romances developing.

A exciting page turning novel.

Another great new story by and author I have devoured every single book by. I look forward to the standalone story that comes out every year, this one I enjoyed, just not has much as the previous ones. I am not exactly sure what was different with this one... It just seemed to fall a little short somewhere. Great characters and a storyline I was really invested in.
It was exciting and action pact and had a lot of emotion and heart. We followed several different characters along the way. Sloan, the main female character is a cop that was injured and had a momentous moment after her heart stopped. Reassessing her life while healing up, she heads home to her family. There, she slowly heals, but cannot seem to leave the investigator behind, and stumbles up on a missing person case the occupies her mind. A pair of brothers by the house next door and set about renovating and starting a new business. They seem to become intertwined in her life and her families lives and life moves on and becomes more. As her investigation moves a long she finds more and more missing persons and eerie connection between them, one that also may just affect her. A little romance and healing round out the story with a satisfying conclusion.
I really enjoyed it and I hope everyone else does as well, whether your new to Nora Roberts or an old pro like me!

The usual wonderful read from Nora Roberts, with plenty of romance and suspense.

Sloane is a Natural Resources police officer who unexpectedly gets shot when she stops at a convenience store with her partner and interrupts a robbery. Luckily she survives, but only just, and has to take a break from her job and move back to live with her parents while she recuperates, which she finds very frustrating, so starts looking at a local missing person case that escalates into more than anticipated.

We also have Nash, who has moved next door to her parents with his brother Theo, and have set up a house renovation business after walking away from other high pressure work they weren't really interested in, and only did because of their (horrible!) parents.

Drea (Sloane's sister) and Theo get involved, and then Nash and Sloane get closer, so there's plenty of romance along with the scarier thriller side of the murders, which balances things out throughout the story.

Just the usual great read I would expect from Nora Roberts, one of my favourite authors.

A new Nora Roberts is always a treat, and as usual I flew through this one. Ever dependable, Hidden Nature's blend of romance, crime, twists and atmospheric locale was just right.

I really enjoyed seeing the world through Sloane's eyes, the ins and outs of her day to day, her chemistry with Nash, her investigative process as she unravels the case if a serial kills who hits close to home. In typical style, Roberts glides easily between the twisted and macabre antagonists, and the warm and comforting vibes of Sloane's relationships with her friends and family. The occasional jumps into other characters POVs felt surprising and unpredictable, but also pleasantly organic, and offered intriguing perspectives throughout.

I'd highly recommend Hidden Nature for fans of Robert's previous work as well as anyone looking for a layered, engaging and truly satisfying read.

Thank you Little, Brown Book Group UK for an advance copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

I love Nora's books but, haven't read her books for awhile. This was a great read twisty, with a touch of religion as well. A quick read and a very enjoyable one. It was nice to be going back to her books again. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Nora Roberts is by this point a master class act in all things writing books.i mean come on, shes brilliant. i feel a smile on my face every time i get to read on of her books. i know ill love it. i know i will get in far too deep. and i know i wont want it to end at the same time i want to keep reading more and more.
this book gives us Sloan a natural resource police officer. on the way home she get shot after interrupting a robbery in progress. this leaves Sloane literally being brought back t o life. and her recovery wont be easy. but shes alive and that wasnt always a given. so to recoup she goes home to her parents. but boredom sets in. she needs her mind to be working. so when she gets wind of a missing womans case locally she cant help but want, no need to know more. so she decides shes going to do just that, and try and solve it in her own time. but then patterns are emerging. this doesnt seems to be a one off. and there also seems to be no link between the cases.
whats the connection, why chose these different people. with the help of those around her Sloan keep up her determination to see this through.
but theres more to this story and her time at home...
Meet Nash, who moved here in order for a new start. hes going to renovate one of the local homes to give him time and head space. when this work bring a meeting between out two characters we began THEIR story. Nash is interested. is he more interested in the case though, or just spending time with Sloane? either way he offers to help her figure this all out.
but Sloane is all or nothing determined and Nash is coming to realises she will do anything to find the killers. even if it means putting herself at risk.
this book lends its hands perfectly to romance and thrill rides. each moment is given its time, each genre type met with the right balance.
this is just such a good book. love it.
