As a big fan of the rest of the series, I was so freaking excited when this was announced. Even more excited when I snagged an advanced copy! I absolutely loved everything about this book, except for the fact that it means we're really done with Greta and her story!

This is the last book in the Greta Helsing series and I was very pleased to have been given access to the ARC. As it was some time since the last book was issued I had a valid and pleasurable reason to dive into a reread of the previous books. I would recommend you read the previous books.
The story picks up some months after the events in Grave Importance, and it is worth while reading the novella Bitter Waters as this provides context for the location of some of the key characters from previous storylines in this book.
After the reset in Heaven some anomalies are starting to be noticed by mundane humans and to ally some of this plus assisting Heaven and Hell with the new Accords. Greta is persuaded to act as mentor for a young angel and demon and take them on a road trip around America and basically see how allergic they are to each other in a neutral space, the mortal plane.
At the same time that these preparations are progressing, incidents of dart attacks on demons and angels have been happening on earth, however with varied health affects on each celestial being.
When Greta and Sir Francis arrive in New York things do not go to plan, leading to mayhem, supernatural doctoring, and a ripping up of the rule books of Heaven and Hell.
A great series to sink your teeth into and would highly recommend.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for access to this ARC all views are my own.

Strange New World is the fourth full novel in the Dr Greta Hesling series by Vivian Shaw. If you haven’t read this series yet, what have you been doing? This is an urban fantasy series following Dr Hesling, a Doctor that specialises in treating the undead, mythical creatures and even the odd angel and demon. This series explores the secret world hiding under the surface of our everyday reality. Dr Helsing encounters friendly (and not so friendly) vamps, mummies in need of rebandaging, insane secret societies and she has even helped to stop the apocalypse. In this book, she goes on a research trip to America with a demon and an angel- an absolutely hilarious premise.
Plenty of the fan favourite characters pop up in this book to help Greta with her latest crisis. I have to admit, I missed reading about Varney, Ruthven and Fastitocalon when I finished the previous book in the series. I will always be entertained by these characters!
Overall, I thought this was a wonderful book just like Vivian Shaw’s other novels. It is simultaneously funny/absurd and action-packed. The stakes keep rising throughout the book as you begin to see how all of the plot points come together. I couldn’t put the book down because there were so many questions to be answered: Who shot Harlach at the start of the book? What was he shot with? Can angels and demons co-exist without going into anaphylactic shock?
I love this series with all of my heart, and I can’t believe more people don’t know about it. If you like stories about the supernatural, references to classic gothic characters, medical mysteries and a loveable cast of characters, you need to read this!
