While housesitting her brother’s fancy apartment, Nina is out on the balcony looking at the residents in the opposite building. When she notices a man in his penthouse on the balcony and then a pretty lady joins him. She’s curious.

A week later, Nina then discovers that a woman matching this lady’s exact description is missing. When she goes to the police, the man with the penthouse claims she’s was never there and has a solid alibi.

But Nina knows what she saw. And someone is now watching Nina. How much can she trust these neighbours?

This started off strong. I was intrigued. Who was this missing girl? Where did she go? What has Nina got herself into? I was invested! But as the book progressed I became bored. I think it was a little longer than it needed to be. I also wanted a little bit more thrilling moments in the middle. Overall, it was an interesting thriller.

The House Sitter by Keri Beevis is a thriller that keeps you on edge. The book follows Nina who, after a break up agrees to house-sit her brother’s upscale apartment. One summer night, during a power outage, she observes a man and a striking woman on a neighboring balcony. When the woman later goes missing, and the man denies her ever being there.Nina starts to investigate.

Thank your for the opportunity to read The House Sitter. This story follows Nina who is having a bit of a rough patch and decides to house sit for her brother. What she doesn't know is a pair of binoculars and a power outage would create a cat and mouse situation that might cost her her life.

This book had suspicion, speculation, twists and a full circle ending. Would recommend!

Overall 4.5*

The story has plenty going on throughout and begins with the main character Nina watching her rich entitled neighbour having sex on his balcony during a power cut. Julian is a spoilt adult brat who always seems to get his own way however Nina is not afraid of him. The story ebbs and flows making the reader constantly question what is really going on and then with the usual Ms Beevis flair, she throws in a huge twist or two, at the end ,which I most certainly did not see coming.

The House Sitter is a twisty, voyeuristic thrill ride that had me side-eyeing my own neighbors. I mean, what is going on behind those curtains?

Fresh off a breakup, our main girl agrees to house-sit her brother’s swanky apartment. Sounds like a dream, right? Until a power outage, a sultry summer night, and a little innocent balcony-watching spiral into a full-blown missing woman mystery. Suddenly, she’s not just sipping wine—she’s tangled in lies, danger, and some seriously shady neighbor drama.

Keri Beevis nails the pacing—fast, punchy, and just the right amount of “wait, WHAT?!” The writing is sharp, the tension is tight, and the characters are layered enough to keep you guessing who’s trustworthy (spoiler: almost no one). If you love your thrillers twisty and your main characters bold enough to poke the bear, this one’s for you.

Short, snappy, and totally bingeable—go on, peek behind the blinds.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this advance copy for my honest, voluntary review.

First of all, let me just say—if anyone asks me to house-sit after reading this, the answer is a hard no. If I ever do decide to house-sit, I’m minding my business and staying far, far away from any suspicious activity, LOL. This book was a rollercoaster of suspense. The way no one believed our main character drove me crazy—I was literally shouting, "Give her the benefit of the doubt!" It’s like everyone just kept gaslighting her, and I was so frustrated. But that tension made the story all the more thrilling. I honestly thought any one of the characters could’ve been the killer at some point, and I loved the constant guessing game.

The suspense in this one is definitely top-tier, and it’s a psychological thriller through and through. The atmosphere is creepy, and the way the story unfolds kept me hooked. I can’t say I was totally blown away by the ending, but it was solid. All in all, I really enjoyed it! If you’re looking for a book that’ll have you paranoid about everyone, it’s definitely worth the read!

“The House Sitter” is a novel that takes you on a whirlwind while we follow Nina, who is recently single and house sitting for her brother, and a mystery unfolding in a unit in the building across from her. This story is told in multiple POV’s (which I always love!) and a lot of unreliable narrators (also love!) so this will keep you guessing or have you thinking you’ve got it figured out until the very end. I also very much enjoyed the short chapters/fast paced vibe of this book, while still keeping a decent character development throughout.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Book Review

📖📖📖📖📖

Thank you to @netgalley and @theboldbookclub for this advanced readers copy, due out May 22nd!

I read this book over a twenty-four hour period. I could not put it down! I had it all figured out so early on, but I was SO WRONG!

The main character, Nina, breaks up with her boyfriend and moves into her brother’s sublet apartment to cat sit while he’s away. On the first night the power goes out and while looking for candles, she stumbles across a pair of high powered binoculars.

The rest, wowza. What does she see on that first night? And how will what she sees turn into a twisty case of who done it.

Deceit, fatal attraction, a budding romance, a whole cast of characters that could be the criminal… it’s all right here within these pages.

Grab this one next week!

3.5 Stars

In The House Sitter, Keri Beevis delivers a slow-burning mystery wrapped in suspense. After a recent breakup, Nina retreats to her brother’s apartment to cat-sit while he’s away. One night, during a power outage and with her phone nearly dead, boredom leads her to the window, where she finds herself watching the penthouse across the street. What starts off as a harmless distraction takes a chilling turn when she sees a woman sharing an intimate moment with her neighbor… and then a few days later she learns that same woman has gone missing.
Nina begins digging into the mystery herself. Her search uncovers more questions than answers, especially when she discovers a pattern of other missing women. Could it all be connected? And what exactly is her neighbor hiding?
While the story was too slowly for my personal taste, the short chapters kept it from dragging too much. What really saved it for me was the twist toward the end; I didn’t see it coming, and it made the journey worthwhile. Told in multiple POV, mostly in 3rd person, it can be read as a standalone novel. Overall, I had fun reading it and hope you enjoy it as well!

This is one of those books that is so great, it’s frustrating that the synopsis is all I can delve into, lest I spoil the book for anyone! Nina has just rejected her boyfriend Michael’s marriage proposal, and, with perfect timing, her brother Dexter is heading to Hong Kong for a few weeks. She’s going to stay in his apartment and watch his cat while he’s gone, and try to find a place of her own.

Her first night at the apartment, there is a power outage, and she goes out to the balcony, which is only nominally cooler than the apartment broiling without air conditioning. She starts people watching, and notices a handsome man on the next block, also on his balcony. Shortly, a beautiful blonde woman joins him, and they proceed to have sex. Something about the exchange didn’t feel right to Nina, though…

Soon, it’s in the news that a woman named Peyton has gone missing. When she sees the her face on television, Nina realizes that this was the woman on the man’s balcony, and that was probably the last time anyone saw her. She calls the police and tells them what she saw, but the man who lives there, Julian, has an alibi. His blonde coworker was there that night; Nina must be mistaken. Except, she knows she’s not.

The rest of the book is about finding Peyton, but it’s about SO MUCH MORE that I can’t discuss. There are some really interesting characters, like Leonard, an old man who also likes to people watch, and Zac, Dexter’s roommate who came back to town early and is now annoying Nina as he did when they were kids. Then there’s Julian, the wealthy and handsome man who was with Peyton that night. When he asks Nina out for a drink, she accepts - but only to find out more about him. Going back to his place to see if she can find evidence of Peyton being there was a good idea, until it wasn’t.

Nina’s snooping is putting herself in danger, but she can’t stop - luckily for the reader, as the suspense was strong throughout the whole book. This is one of the better thrillers I’ve read this year; I was shocked again and again! I didn’t have the time to read this all in one sitting, and I was itching to get back to it ASAP, as this was such an intriguing story that really pulled me in. 4.5 stars, rounded up.

This is a book told through multiple different view points and while I'm usually not a fan of those because I find that they can be overly confusing I was very pleased to find that this one was very well written and organised. While there are many different characters it mostly circles around our main character Nina who is house-sitting for her brother, and our protagonist Julian. Nina can't wait to get to spend some more time at her brother's house, however when a sudden power outage hits she decides to get some air outside. Having nothing better to do she starts watching the sleeping city when her eyes are suddenly drawn to the only other people awake, her brother's mysterious neighbour and his guest. The couple are getting pretty hot and heavy and with the entire world sleeping around them they leave nothing to the imagination. It isn't until later when the mystery woman from the apartment goes missing that Nina starts to believe that the neighbour might not be as innocent as he seems. With a seemingly iron clad alibi Nina doesn't believe a word of it and if this woman is going to get justice for her disappearance the its going to have to be from Nina herself and she will stop at nothing to see this one through. This was a jaw dropping thriller that really left me guessing. I loved the characters but it was the pure tension and suspense that this book resonated that really left me gasping. This is one book that will leave you flipping the pages at record speed in order to find out what is going on, but at the same time this is a book that you will never want to end. This was a great read and I can't wait to check out some of the authors by this author because I just know that they will be amazing as well.

This was a decent read! Perhaps a bit too slow paced for my taste, but overall, good, and definitely with a little twist at the end

Very good.
A proper mind play book.
Nina moves into her brothers flat while he’s away (he rents it off a friend while he’s away, Zac)
Unfortunately for Nina she sees what she wishes she hadn’t and then things start to unravel and then the story just goes off. In a good way.
There’s dodgy characters and the nice ones, can you trust them all though.
Guess you better read it.

I am so thankful that I was given the opportunity to read this book.

Let me start this by saying WOW. From the very first chapter, this thriller had me absolutely hooked. The pacing was great, the writing was brilliant, and the tension so spot on that putting the book down felt wrong. What truly set this novel apart was the use of multiple points of view. Each voice was distinct and essential to the unfolding mystery. At first glance the lives of the characters don’t seem to be connected but as the novel progresses and their paths cross, their stories unfold and their secrets are revealed, the story only gets better.
I truly enjoyed every word of this book. What a great thriller with a side of romance.

This was a slow burn. I would have liked a faster pace with more twists and turns. I had it figured out halfway through unfortunately. It is a good mystery thriller with a little bit of side romance. Unfortunately for me it was very predictable

I was accepted to read this book before official publication through NetGalley and below is my honest review.

What a brilliant book! It had me hooked from the first page. The thriller element started immediately which I love.

The story is told through multiple POVs and whilst sometimes I found it a little difficult to keep up, it was very cleverly written and you get to experience the feelings/story of all the characters.

It’s fast paced which I’m a fan of. There was a HUGE twist which caught me off guard, I thought I knew what was going on.. I didn’t.

I highly recommend this to people who love a fast, gripping thriller.

Overall, I give this book 5 stars!

Keri Beevis again proving why she is one of my favorite authors.

Two apartment complexes and many residents, all with secrets. While, the killer wasn’t at all a shock to me, the story was super entertaining. I enjoyed the different perspectives of the characters. It amazes me how intricate their stories were and how Keri managed to come up with so many webs and how they all tie together! Nina was a great female lead and Zac was a great partner in crime.

I also enjoyed the side love story that bloomed. The will they or won’t they, brothers best friend, love story! It gave an extra edge to the storyline.

All in all, another great one by Beevis!
