🧠 Thoughts:
This book had an exciting beginning with a creepy blackout and a questionable voyeuristic section. But after a while, the story slowed down and didn’t keep me as interested. I gave it three stars because it had some good twists, but overall it didn’t totally work for me. Having read many of Keri Beevis’s other books however, I’m sure many others will love this one!
📝 Summary:
After breaking up with her boyfriend, Nina moves into her brother’s penthouse to take care of it. One night during a power outage, she looks out the window and sees some strange happenings on one particular neighbor’s balcony.
The next day, she finds out a woman is missing—and she thinks it might be the same woman she was watching on the balcony!
Nina tries to tell the police, but they don’t believe her at first.
Nina has to decide whether to keep pushing for the truth or stay quiet and safe.
🙏 Thank you to NetGalley, Keri Beevis, and Boldwood Books for letting me read and review this mysterious story!

This was not a bad one, it just moved a little too slowly for me. I prefer my thirllers to be a little more pacey. There are a lot of characters also to keep track of. It was just very predictable for me and didn't really shock me.

Oh wow I did not expect the twist! Nina turned down an engagement, is cat sitting her brother’s cat, and witnessed something she can’t forget. During a power outage, she scanned the apartments with a binocular and was caught spying. This was a quick read. Thank you to Boldwood Books for a copy.

Who doesn't enjoy a book about a neighborhood drama/thriller. I love them. I could not stop reading it as I wanted to know what was happening. Great characters, great plot and I was kept guessing all the way through. Highly recommend.

This is my first book by this author and I was blown away. The House Sitter is an intriguing, fast paced and twisty thriller. I was kept on the edge of my seat the whole time and could never guess what was going to happen next. I think this is going to be a big hit for anyone who loves mystery.

@keri.beevis is the Queen of British domestic psychological thrillers 🖤 Her latest novel, The House Sitter, starts out as the main character breaks up with her boyfriend and moves into her brother’s apartment to house sit. The beginning brings Hitchcock Rear Window vibes and then the story takes off into a twisty mystery full of suspense, twists, and a little bit of romance. It’s a fast paced page turner that will have you reading past your bedtime!

Nina‘s break up with her boyfriend leaves her without a place to stay conveniently her brother Dexter is going to be away for a few months and offers for her to stay at his place. During a power outage Nina grabs some pizza and sits out on the balcony to cool off a bit. Nina decides to people watch in the building across the road, she sees an attractive man and soon he’s joined by a beautiful woman, and Nina feels like a bit of a voyeur, but watches them have sex. Nina is a little rattled by this for some reason, but it all becomes clear when she discovers a woman matching the description of the woman she saw across the road has gone missing. Nina calls the police to let them know, but when the man, Julian, is questioned, he has an alibi.
Nina can’t seem to let this go, she is sure that she is right. Added to this mystery is the old man Leonard across the street who was also listening in and watching Nina watch Julian. Nina is then joined by Zac, a friend of her brothers who’s also a co-owner of the apartment. Nina tries to solve the crime herself, but does she get herself in over her head,
This is a pretty decent story that were lots of twists and turns, lots of action and interesting characters. Definitely a great summer read
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishing house, and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for review, based upon my honest opinion.

Loved this book. It was exciting and fast paced. Very interesting plot. One that you wouldn't get away with this in real life, but t played out so well as a book.Would make a good movie. Really like this author and her writing style.

I enjoyed this quick read thriller! It was a good mixture of pacing and plot that all twisted into a suspenseful read.

First thriller I've read by this author. Put her in the categories with Frieda McFadden, Harlan Coben & James Patterson. The FMC splits up with her boyfriend after a failed marriage proposal, stayed her brother while he travels abroad. Need I say more? Sounds good already doesn't it? Some one goes missing, Someone is guilty... I don't want to spoil it but when I say I was shook! I was shook. Thanks to the author, the publisher Boldwood books & netgalley for the eARC.

After a breakdown of a disastrous relationship with her long-term partner Michael, our protagonist Nina, decides to move out of her own home and apartment/cat sit. Her brother, Dexter, has gone on a long holiday and as his apartment is part of the swanky River Heights development, Nina is looking forward to her time there. It will give her time to clear her head and decide what she wants to do with her life.
It is a hot summer evening, and suddenly there is a power cut. Stuck for something to occupy her time, Nina goes out onto the apartment balcony. She discovers a pair of binoculars and starts casting around looking at the other blocks of apartments. Focusing on the penthouse, she sees a very attractive man. He is accompanied by a striking blonde woman, and very soon they are being intimate with each other, with Nina unable to look away.
But, the following weekend, a local news bulletin reports that a woman exactly matching the description of Nina’s striking blonde has gone missing. The last time she was seen was the same night as the balcony incident. The attractive man, however, has an alibi and denies that the woman was ever there. Nina makes a fateful decision to take up the search and find out what has happened. She soon discovers there is a whole lot more to her neighbour than she first realised.
This is a good Keri Beevis novel with plenty of twists and turns and host of characters all with secrets to hide. Diehard Keri Beevis fans will notice that her writing is a little different from her usual novels, but it is still her usual high standard.
Sincere thanks to Keri Beevis, Boldwood Books and Keri Beevis for the much appreciated ARC in exchange for an open and honest review.

Another absolute masterpiece from Keri Beevis! I’m a huge fan of her writing and I’m yet to read a book of hers that I don’t like, but honestly I feel like they just keep getting better and better! Another dark, suspenseful thriller that will keep you up all night. Highly recommended to anyone that loves a good psychological thriller!
Thanks so much to Netgalley and the publishers for my ARC

A thriller I couldn't put down. What did she see out of the window as she was housesitting for her brother? A women is missing and because of what she says she saw, she is in danger!

Great fast paced, edge of your seat, thriller! I loved how the it was written and how you knew the characters based on the amazing writing of Keri Beevis. One of my favorite authors and this book makes me see clearly why! Plot twist, mouth on the floor, read!. Thank you Keri for another favorite

If you like quick thrillers, this is a good book for you. This was the first book that I’ve read by this author, but I’m planning on reading more as soon as I can get my hands on them.
Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Nina has just split from her boyfriend and moves out and goes and housesits for her brother while he is away and feed his cat, it beats moving back in with her parents while she finds somewhere else.
One night there is a power cut in the flats/complex so she ends up out on the balcony and she finds her brother’s binoculars and has a look round and sees someone in the penthouse suite having sex on the balcony, but she keeps watching, another neighbour has spotted her watching. A woman goes missing and Nina realises it is the woman who was on the balcony! Did she ever leave the suite or did she disappear after leaving? Only problem is the man denies knowing her and someone comes forward to give him an alibi, but Nina knows what she saw and is determined to find out the truth. Her brother’s flat mate returns from his travels and tries to get her to stop. Will she find out the truth or is she just putting herself in danger?
My first book by this author, although I have several in my TBR pile which will be moved towards the top now.

If you can get into a slow burn mystery, with a ton of characters then this is for you! With that being said, this was a WILD ride

So I'm DNFing this at 40%....
I was given this ARC, and I was so excited, but it was a letdown.
Soooo this book was giving unoriginal. The author took whatever outline Freida McFadden used to write this book. It was literally a Frieda book, except this book it didn't have one likeable character, and the plot was all over the place. I tried so hard to find something I liked about it but I couldn't.
I was trying to thug it out and finish it, but this book literally single handedly put me in a reading slump.

Nina is house sitting for her brother who is out of the country. When the power goes out in her 5th floor unit, she takes binoculars out on the balcony to see if other areas of the community are out as well. She watches a neighbor on the 6th floor opposite her balcony and a woman "In flagrante delicto". When the woman is later reported missing, Nina goes to the police with her story, but the neighbor has an alibi for the time in question. Nina will not waver from what she knows she saw, and she tries to find out the truth while becoming aware that people are watching her, too.
This is definitely one of those edge-of-your-seat books that will keep a reader up until the wee hours trying to figure out who saw what and who is covering for someone else. Throw in a budding romance, and there's a lot to enjoy in this thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
