Nina breaks up with her long-term boyfriend and immediately moves out of their shared home. Without a place to stay, Nina’s brother Dexter offers her the apartment he is renting so that she can cat-sit whilst he goes off travelling.
One evening, Nina is keeping herself occupied sitting on the balcony spying on her neighbours through binoculars and spots a man acting aggressively to a woman in the penthouse opposite. Nina later recognises the woman as one who went missing on the night she saw her at the penthouse; her disappearance is being investigated by the police. Nina takes on the role of amateur detective, linking the woman’s disappearance to that of other women in the area and is hellbent on investigating the case herself. What Nina doesn’t realise is that her meddling will put her in grave danger.
There is a really interesting variety of people in this book. Nina is easy to like and I enjoyed seeing her character develop and found myself championing her to get to the truth. I thoroughly enjoyed trying to work out the ‘who done it,’ whilst being served up plenty of red herrings.
A psychological suspense thriller that had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end!

The House Sitter by Keri Beevis is an edge of your seat psychological suspense story with so many secrets. The line up of characters all seem guilty, producing an exhilarating game of cat and mouse to discover the actual culprit. This was a fun read and I was constantly second guessing myself on the outcome.

Nina breaks it off with her longtime boyfriend, and needing a place to stay her brother asks her to cat sit at his posh apartment while he is traveling. During a power outage, a bored Nina starts spying on her neighbors with binoculars she found in the apartment. When she sees a neighbor across the way being aggressive with a woman, she is alarmed. When she realizes this same woman is reported missing the next day, she is spurred into action. As the drama escalates, Nina finds herself in too deep to stop.

This was a fast paced, wild ride read. It was impossible to put down until the truth came out. Packed with action and gasp out loud drama, it will satisfy any psychological drama lover. I highly recommend this book.

W.O.W i really really enjoyed this book, I was drawn into it , a story of obsessive behaviour, jealousy.. Did Julian the playboy kill the women he had been known to date? Would Tabitha his long term family friend finally get the man of her dreams? Does she give Julian an alibi for the murder? It was a nail biter that's for sure,

Rounding up to 3.5 stars
If you’re looking for a psychological thriller with a splash of spice, some derangement, and a twist that comes out of left field, pick this up! The first half was a slow build for me and some parts I could have done without (adult situations, and some tropes I don’t particularly care for) but by mid way the story picks up and steams ahead with twist after twist. Everyone is up to something in The House Sitter. A good, quick, weekend read.

I wanted to like this one, but I was able to figure it out quite early on. It was blatantly obvious and I was hoping for a bit of a twist at the end, hoping that I was wrong, but no. For me personally, I didn't need the romantic interest between the main character and he brothers childhood friend. It didn't add anything to the story for me, but I do see this happening a lot more in thriller books. It fell a bit flat for me and I was hoping for a bit more suspense

A huge and most well deserved 5 stars for this book and what a fantastic read it was. A tense psychological thriller with the search for a potential serial killer.

Nina has broken up with her boyfriend and is helping look after a gorgeous rag doll cat and her brother’s luxury flat when she sits on the balcony one evening looking at the flats opposite. To her shock she sees a man and woman in the penthouse and what looks like an act of violence. Using some binoculars she is sure she is witnessing something criminal and when the woman she recognises from this is reported missing Nina finds herself sleuthing and in the midst of terrible danger.

Some brilliant characters including Leonard, the nosy neighbour and the mysterious Julian, suspected of nefarious conduct, as yet unproved.

Lots of tense moments and a slew of red herrings preceded and ending that I did not anticipate and thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you for the arc!
A fast-paced, voyeuristic thriller that turns casual curiosity into a dangerous game. Nina, recovering from a breakup and staying in her brother’s apartment, spots something suspicious through her binoculars and when a woman goes missing, she becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth. Twisty, suspenseful, and full of red herrings, this mystery keeps you second-guessing everyone. While some turns are predictable and the drama occasionally borders on soap opera, it’s an addictive, cleverly layered read that’s hard to put down.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC!!

Nina is staying at her brothers house while he’s out of town. The power in his fancy apartment complex goes out so she entertains herself by using binoculars to look around the apartment complex. She sees her neighbor being pretty aggressive with a girl, but thinks nothing of it. Until she sees the girl on the news and she’s been missing since that very night…..

This was a very fast, very wild ride. I read this in about 3 hours flat, I couldn’t stop. It was sort of like what would happen if Freida McFadden wrote woman in the window? Peyton goes missing and Nina knows where she was last, but multiple people are lying. Keri leads us through Nina’s persistent sleuthing, hell bent on getting the man Peyton was with arrested. And honestly Keri writes him in a way that just makes you haaaate him. So the whole time I’m trying to decide is she really showing us the murderer from the beginning or is it just a red herring?? I did not know right up until the last second. The twists and turns that come at the end are like a boxing combination just hitting you from every direction.

I would’ve loved to see more of the fall out at the end, but I am ecstatic that I found a new author to devour!!

Another of Keri's books that I have flown through. Keri always writes brilliant thrillers that really keep you guessing and as with a few of Keri's other books, I didn't get it right.

I loved Nina and Zacs chemistry and thought their friendship was fun.

I really enjoyed this book and I'm really excited to read more from Keri.

I felt this book was very average. Nina decides she has to move out when she doesn't want to marry her boyfriend. While house sitting for her brother, she notices a neighbor one night with a blonde woman. Then the woman disappears. Is this neighbor responsible? And is Nina in danger when starts trying to figure out what happened.

Nina's boyfriend proposes and she realizes she doesn't love him enough to marry him. She agrees to house sit for her brother while he goes to Hong Kong to meet his boyfriend's parents. One night she watches her neighbor and then realizes a missing woman could be the woman she saw with him. Was it the same girl? Is Nina in danger as she tries to figure this mystery out?

When Nina decides she doesn't love her boyfriend enough to marry him, she moves out and house sits for her brother while he's on vacation. One night the power goes out and she is looking through binoculars. She sees a neighbor having sex with a girl. Then she notices the neighbor watching her. When this girl ends up missing. Nina is convinced it was him. But he has an alibi. How far will Nina go to prove she is right? How much danger is she is? It was just ok. Average thriller. The cover is great though!

What a brilliant read this is, a fast paced thriller read with good characters that kept me involved in the storyline.

Extremely well written, just the sort of book I really enjoy. A great plot that kept me on the edge of my seat and then everything brought to a satisfactory conclusion, just brilliant.

Title: The House Sitter
Author: Keri Beevis
Publisher: Boldwood Books
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Pub Date: May 22, 2025
My Rating: 3.5 Stars

Our protagonist Nina Fairchild has decided that she didn’t love Michael and knew he was about to propose, Since the apartment where they live is his, it means she needs to find another place as she doesn’t not want to move back home. Her brother Dexter had asked her to cat sit Hannibal while he and his partner Mark were going out of town for a summer holiday. With this new development he asked if she would just and house-sit his apartment- she agrees.
The first night in the apartment the power goes out. It is a hot night so she goes on the balcony. She spots the binoculars and uses them to check out the surrounding area. Sure enough it is dark in all the apartments nearby. She cannot help but notice the couple in the penthouse across from her. They are having rough sex and Nina is fearful for the woman. He finally leaves her and hurries to pick her clothes and leaves.
Later the woman she saw is reported missing. Nina informs the police what she saw. The police question the man but he has a solid alibi as he was with someone- and the woman confirms his alibi,
He states the missing woman was never there.
Did Julian, who owns the penthouse, cause her disappearance?

There are a lot of characters – and everyone is a suspect. I was sure I knew whodunit. ~ LOL

When I started this story I was sure it was not going to be a chilling, addictive unputdownable psychological thriller – However it turned out better than I expected.

Want to thank NetGalley and Boldwood Publishing for granting me this early eGalley. Publishing Release Date scheduled for May 22, 2025.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.5 stars)

The House Sitter by Keri Beevis opens with a juicy premise: after a breakup, Nina agrees to house-sit her brother Dexter’s swanky apartment while he’s overseas. Looking for peace and quiet, she instead stumbles into something far more sinister. During a heatwave and power outage, she sees something suspicious from the balcony—a man in the penthouse across the way, a woman joining him, and then… nothing. Days later, that same woman is reported missing. Nina knows what she saw, but when she reports it to the police, the man denies she was ever there. With no one believing her, Nina sets out to uncover the truth. But the deeper she digs, the more tangled—and dangerous—things become.

I love Keri Beevis and have devoured most of her books, so when Boldwood Books reached out via NetGalley for me to review this one, I was absolutely thrilled. And while I did enjoy The House Sitter, it didn’t quite hit the high bar set by my favourites from her.

There’s no doubt this book has suspense, tension, and red herrings aplenty (some genuinely had me second-guessing myself!), but it also dipped into Mills & Boon territory at times, and the characters’ decisions often felt a bit over the top or just… odd. I struggled to understand their motivations—especially Nina’s. Some of her choices were reckless and pretty unrelatable. And Julian? Not believable at all. His behaviour toward Tabitha made my skin crawl.

I did like Zac, but his relationship with Nina felt too convenient and underdeveloped. The ending, while action-packed, wrapped up a bit too neatly—everyone just happening to be in the right place at the right time felt a little forced. And don’t get me started on all the characters with mysterious pasts; it got a bit much. That said, I wish we’d gotten way more Leonard—he was easily my favourite!

Despite the flaws, it’s still a fun, fast-paced read. I’ll definitely be back for Beevis’ next one.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC and the chance to share my thoughts!

Wow! An amazing page turner. Loved the storyline, narrative style, characters and pacing. The context setting is amazingly done for the thriller and I love the supporting characters. All the markings for a great thriller.

It is quite gripping and I can assure one cannot keep it down until the end. The multiple perspectives help and who doesn't love characters armed with a binoculars. Definitely recommend!

Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange of my unbiased review.

Another great novel from Keri Beevis. This one is set in Norwich city and focuses on Nina who has moved into her brother’s flat while he is away. What she witnesses from the balcony starts a chain of events nobody could have predicted. I certainly didn’t see the twists and turns coming throughout the book.

For some reason It took me a wee bit to get into this. No doubt I'm just incredibly impatient and want everything to go to he'll straight away lol. I did soon get completely hooked though and couldn't stop reading. The characters are well written and believable. The plot had some twists that were just...... outstanding!! And nothing was what it seemed. Well worth a ready and absolutely perfect beach read that's not too overly complicated and hard to follow but also keeps you guessing!!
