There’s something profoundly grounding in the way he threads his personal experiences with those of other queer voices—voices that are too often left on the margins. Each story touches on a different shape that grief can take, and somehow, even in its heaviest moments, there’s a quiet grace to it all. It’s not just a reflection on what it means to lose, but also on how we reshape ourselves in the aftermath. It’s a tender, brave exploration of a subject we all face, but rarely unpack with such honesty.

Ty Netgalley for the ARC !

I got this as an arc on Netgalley and it will come out coming week. This is an important book that needed making because us queer people do experience a lot of loss. I like how it didn't just associate loss with loss of life. As a queer disabled person I experience loss of community for instance because there's seldomly room for all of me, and themes like that are also there, albeit in very different ways.

I loved this book. Andrew Flewitt's work is a container for so many feelings that can be hard to navigate. He shares enough of his story to keep me firmly alongside him while giving space to queer voices that might otherwise not be heard. Each of the stories illustrates a facet of loss, sometimes in unexpected ways and always with great care. The book makes me believe not just that there is life after loss, but that we might even be able to thrive beyond it. Thank you for this thoughtful, considered and moving examination of a topic every one of us encounters but too few of us talk about so openly.
