New Starbucks Order: Spades Special

If you like morally blackish characters, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, erotic club play, stalking and serial killer elements the sequel in Las Vegas House of Spades is your destination.

I highly encourage you to start with Book 1: Barristers & Bones to feel the full fondness for the world building.

Gambling on this series in the first place continues to reward me. Graveyards & Greed continued my squeals, screams and gasps the further I dug into it. And now I eagerly await Book 3.

A solid 4.75 stars from me. Definitely check the trigger warnings on each book, don’t say you weren’t warned that they were going to be juicy.

I received a copy of this book from J.L. Brannick. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.

This book was so much fun—completely unhinged in the best possible way. The vibe is dark comedy meets romance, with just enough chaos to keep things entertaining but never confusing. The chemistry between the main characters is fire, the dialogue is fast and witty, and the plot is wild but still emotionally grounded. I laughed out loud more than once, and then suddenly found myself weirdly emotional over characters I didn’t expect to care that much about. Also, the Vegas setting? Gritty, glitzy, and totally perfect for this kind of story.

If you’re into black comedy, sharp banter, dangerous men with soft spots, and romance that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still hits you in the heart—Graveyards and Greed is a must-read.

Graveyards & Greed had me laughing more than any other darkish romance book. The humor is dark, the book walks a line of "has this gone too far" and yet I loved every page. I also may never look at another Starbucks drink the same way. If you have a wicked sense of humor, and enjoy a spicy romance novel then this book is for you.

This was absolutely amazing! The drama, the back and forth between the MMC & FMC, the spice... oh the spice will make you melt. From beginning to end I was enthralled in the will they won't they and the drama between enemies. The way they come together and protect whats theirs and fight for eachother and the love is beautiful and how every family should be, well maybe not exactly but you'll see what I mean!! Definitely a must read and cant wait for the next book.

A rich hot-shot lawyer and a mortician in disguise each walk into a [sleazy] bar - end up burying two bodies in the desert - and the fun begins! Snark, tension, organized crime, psycho bikers, psycho families, dark baggage, violence, blood, gore, kidnapping, revenge - quite the romance. A Pulp Fiction kinda romance that is totally off the wall in the best of ways - not for the squeamish for sure. An unexpected gem - one of the best reads I've come across!

I am really loving this series so far. If you like Butcher and Blackbird or spicy dark mafia with witty banter, like S J Tilly’s Alliance series, you’ll love this one. Sylvie and the Spade cousins are crazy funny, and Drakos has this kinky, dark, golden retriever vibe. Very different, very violent, and a lot of fun.

I'm really enjoying this series, definitely recommend for anyone that loves dark romcoms like Butcher and Blackbird etc.
Whilst the couples are standalone, the background story does overlap so defo read in order.
I was intrigued by Sylvie and Drakos in the first book and really loves their story.
I can guess who the next story will be but I'm really hoping we get the rest of the Spade cousins stories
