This was a fun read. I've read most of Nisha's fantasy books and loved them, so I was intrigued by her contemporary romance book.
I loved the banter. Tris and Rafe are immature in their banter with each other, but that's what made their interactions fun to read.
100% so happy I picked this up realistically, I knew I was going to enjoy it because Nisha wrote it.

A romcom perfect for the summer! Full of humour but also serious topic the story truly pulls you in and makes you swoon and smile all the way through. Nothing but a good moment while reading, that will make you smile, laugh and tug at your heart. Tris is a fantastic main character with depth and flaws, a biting humour and character values that truly makes you love her.

An absolute delight I cannot recommend enough!

Delicious!!

Nisha is a talent. I am a big fan of her fantasy works, and this was swing in the other direction for me, and this was a masterful swing. I was looking for something nice and entertaining. and NSFW definitely delivered.

You cannot tell this is Nisha's first contemporary!! The banter, the side characters and the setting were perfection!! I had several laugh out loud moments. I also really appreciate the light it shines on how misogynistic and patriarchal the corporate world is.

This was a nice and fun read. Definetely delightful and I loved the rivals to lovers in STEM elements.
Rafe is a swoonworthy love interest and Trish is truly a badass female character. I liked how both were flashed out and how their characters developed. And of course i loved the romance as well because I found it angsty but also very sweet

If you're looking for a really good romcom with some real world issues under the surface, then look no further. As soon as I picked this book up, I was hooked. From the outset, the tension between Trish and Rafe is palpable and the rivalry had me gleeful. By the time the one bed trope came into play, I was kicking my heels. I loved the humour, the characters and the top notch bickering but it's the slow burn that really steals the show! Nisha J. Tuli is the queen of slow burn and nails it once again. A fabulous read and contender for my fave romance of the year!

Nisha always manages to pull it out of the bag and this new romance book was no different. It was great to see Tris’s experience of being a woman in STEM, in a company which values who you know more than what you know, and how her perception of her role and her future changes. Of course, with the conflict between her and Rafe she’s pushed to her limits. Are they forcing each other to be better or just bringing out the worst in each other? Just you wait and see.

I enjoyed getting to know these characters and to see how a good dose of forced proximity altered their relationship and gave them opportunities to better understand each other. It was fun to see Tris making new friends on the trip and also connecting with her work friend, so the romance wasn’t the only focus of the book. I love to see a great female friendship. Amongst all the top chemistry and a little bit of spice, the story really shines a spotlight on the changes needed in STEM careers. Tris had a difficult journey professionally and personally but it was so good to see how she tackled this and the ways she stood up for herself, whether in love or her career. A fantastic character to lead a hot romance story!

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

I loved Nisha's writing in The Trials Of The Sun Queen, so I was eagerly anticipating her contemporary romance debut, Not Safe For Work, and I absolutely ate this up!

Trishara has spent years trying to be at the top of the game at WMC, the engineering company she works for. She's one of the best engineers they have, and everyone knows it, but nepotism and a hefty dose of white male privilege see her being passed by for promotion. When Rafe, the boss's son and Tris's nemesis, has just been handed her hard earned promotion, Trishara is ready to call it quits, but by complete surprise, she's picked to attend a leadership retreat in Hawaii with a chance of bagging a spot on an executive training program Tris decides to give the company one more chance, failing that three weeks in paradise doesn't sound bad at all. If only Rafe wasn't her co-attendee.

Maui is idyllic, and she plans to avoid Rafe as much as possible, but when there's a booking error at the hotel that sees them sharing the honeymoon suite, its getting harder to ignore that Rafe is a 10/10.

I adored Tris so much. She's fearless and knows her worth, and I cheered for her every time she defended herself against racist microagressions and sexism she's just somebody you naturally want to do well and I really liked that Nisha talks about not only women in stem and the sexism they face but what its like being a woman of colour and navigating racism in that field.

I love a workplace romance, and Rafe ticked all my boxes because the way he's slightly mysterious and so sarcastic, yet also only has eyes for Tris, had me swooning. The chemistry between them! The banter! The vibes were Vibing, that's for sure!
It's no secret. I love a spicy scene, like give me all of that good stuff, but the way this was the slowest of burns, just immaculate.
I would highly recommend this one.

I knew I'd like this from the very start - I mean, the guy wears a Henley in the first chapter, so... 🔥

The dynamic between Trishara and Rafe was fantastic, they had excellent banter and I could really feel the tension. It wasn't very funny, but I had fun overall.

But the moments where Tris was clearly trying to deflect from the thoughts she was having about Rafe were so weird, she'd suddenly act horrible, and deny something she's clearly just done.
Idk, I dislike this type of person, banter is one thing but being unnecessarily mean and a liar purely due to denial is another.

The spice was so hot though, and it was such a delicious slow burn before they even got to that stage.

I also loved the work retreat as the setting, it was a good twist on the classic workplace romance, and reading about Trishara having to navigate the corporate world as a woman of colour was a little upsetting, but also very empowering. I like how this all turned out for her in the end, her actions and bravery.

And we got an epilogue a year into the future! It is such a welcome treat when authors give us snippets into the lives of the characters post the main book plot.

A break from the author's usual fantasy romances and it's a cracker!

Tris and Rafe are work rivals.  He is the boss's son, she's the overlooked and overworked Asian female engineer.  When they're both sent on a leadership retreat, Tris decides to get a little revenge on the way.  After calling out just why she's finally being recognised for her work, she exerts a little blackmail and scores a few upgrades.  Sadly those upgrades are going to come back and bite her on the a$$!

Tris is smart, ballsy, fed up and ready to start a revolution.  She has put up with a lot and she's been smart in logging evidence to back up her claims.  And when push comes to shove she's my kinda girl - she'll burn it all down! She sees injustice, she calls it out and she doesn't care if that person is a so-called superior or not.

Rafe could have been just another cookie cutter, smirking office hottie but he actually hides a bit of a squishy core.  I really felt that he was a great MMC as he wasn't afraid to stand up for Tris when she didn't think she had any support.  He knew she was well able to look after herself but he lends her support, he doesn't try to fix things for her all the time.  He is very aware of his privilege and how toxic some of his family members are.

These two have chemistry and I'm here for the slow burn.  They tease us mercilessly but when things finally boil over - whew!!!!  The setting is perfect and I really enjoyed some of the secondary characters that we meet along the way too.

I thought that things were wrapped up well and the HEA was good for both characters. The major themes are so well crafted and I raged along with Tris through the story.  I dare any female, especially my darker skin toned girlies, not to feel the rage through this book.  The daily struggle to be seen as equal, something other than a workplace quota.  I felt some of these deep scars down to the bone and I was like a cackling hyena when the blackmail kicked in - if they won't take you seriously - take em to the cleaners! Tris says down with the patriarchy and I'm screaming YES! I did feel Tris deserved an entire chapter of an apology - like an in court/on TV/ FBI recording this crap scene but I got my HEA.

Not Safe For Work was such a fun, hot!!!, infuriating (because MEN!) and funny read!

Work enemies-to-lovers with the HOTTEST sexual tension? SIGN ME UP! 🔥

This book was truly not safe for work because the tension between Tris and Rafe was next level! 😮‍💨 I lost count of how many times I shouted at my Kindle screen for them to just get it over with - it was too much to handle. They were killing me (in the best way)!

I love reading about women in STEM - they’re total badasses, and their brilliant minds? So hot!

After years in the industry dealing with misogyny and racial microaggressions, Tris is exhausted - and honestly, who can blame her? When you keep getting passed over for promotions in favour of less experienced men, it chips away at your fight. But when an exciting leadership training program in Hawaii comes up and she’s selected - something reignites in her.

The only problem? Her work nemesis is going too. And due to a mix-up they’re sharing a suite. With ONLY ONE BED. 👀

I found Tris a little harsh at times, but maybe that’s just who she had to become to survive in such a toxic environment, and I actually really respect that.

I loved getting to know more about Rafe once he opened up, and what an absolutely sweetheart he was! My man just wanted to do what he loved, and I adored how excited and supportive Tris was for him from the start. Even when his own loved ones wanted him to hide that part of himself.

And the email that Tris sent to all staff?!?! This part actually had me screaming. It was such a badass move and did I mention I love powerful women in STEM?!?! I want to be like her when I grow up!

That said, some of the dialogue felt a little awkward and didn’t always flow naturally. The back-and-forth around Tris’s feelings for Rafe made my head spin a bit too.

But overall? I flew through this book. A perfect, fast-paced summer read.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown Book Group UK + Piatkus for this ARC.

I love the cover and the premise but unfortunately, this just fell flat for me - everything was just bland. However it was a quick read and super easy to get through. I also liked and appreciated the commentary about the plight of BIPOC people in certain industries. The scene which brought up the rating from 1 star to 2 stars was when the FMC finally stood up for herself. Otherwise, the rest of the book was like a wet towel.

- The romance was one-dimensional and just flimsy as the characters themselves; I just don't feel connected, nor was I inclined to root for their romance
- SO many cheesy and cringeworthy moments idk where to start (and the love confession scene near the end gave me the ick)
- Main characters supposed to be 29+ years old but they're both immature and avoidant
- The 'rivals' aspect of their relationship was so non-existent; they were literally all over each other and obvious from the start
- Chronic pain rep was breezed over
- The spice itself I didn't mind, though I thought it would be more robust considering the title of the book
- Lots of vague and frankly, awkward writing e.g. 'his expression becomes a shard of obsidian dipped in ink' and 'his words settling between us like a triangle squeezing itself into a circle'

Would not read again.

Overall rating: 2/5

The best thing about NSFW is that you can tell it's a very personal story to the author. The toxic corporate workplace culture is entirely believable and Tris' backstory of being passed over for promotions and stagnating in her career as a result of the racism and misogyny she faces daily feels realistic. To add to this, she is an extremely loveable character: self-assured but not arrogant, with some hilarious internal monologue. Enough time was given to develop Rafe's character so he didn't just seem like The Only Option and the competitiveness and sexual tension between the pair makes NSFW a very fun read.

I absolutely could not put this book down! The way I became invested was unhealthy and affected my sleep pattern. The true signs of a great contemporary romance. I loved the workplace setting, the FMCs challenges and her personality. The atmosphere was electric as we follow our FMC and MMC on a work trip. The one suite trope is a new fave of mine now. Throughout the banter is sharp and there is plenty of humour and lightness that just made me happy whilst reading. The MMC is tall, mysterious, rich, ripped and intelligent - possibly unbelievable, but I didn’t care this is fiction! I am going to read everything and anything by this author! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC. This is a voluntary review of my own thoughts.

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for Goodreads. Contains some spoilers.

I already liked Nisha J.Tuli's other works - so I was really looking forward to her first contemporary work, especially after reading the foreword in which she explains how this was inspired by real life experiences. A lot of what she describes in the workplace as one of the few women in a male dominated field resonates to my own background so I went in with high expectations and anticipation of how she would depict this along with the development of the romance in this challenging setting.

I enjoyed the book.. but something did not elevate it to what I was hoping it would be, and sadly this was actually the romance.

The heroine is someone I could relate to, in terms of experiences of being passed on for promotions in favor of male less accomplished colleagues, treated as less capable, penalised despite being the actual victim and stagnating with no break in sight. The difficulties and nuances of trying to break through the glass ceiling are very realistic and although it never becomes dreary - the book is still a feelgood workplace romance- it is obvious the author has indeed personal knowledge of what this feels like in real life.

But the romance did not really work for me. Although the elements were all there - enemies to reluctant friends/lovers, workplace misunderstanding and pining from both parties for years- I just did not feel the angst, push and pull and tension until they work things out. The MMC was a bit too lukewarm for my liking - having a completely different career preference is not in any way an issue, nor is the choice of career he follows in the end, which it is refreshing to see a man in (I follow many in that category and think the world of their work).. but I never felt his passion about it or the heroine.. it was more like things happened because they ended up in forced proximity and I felt that without this plot twist (that would really not happen in real life) they would have just carried on with their troubled careers and never met in ther middle or actively tried to find ways to escape their constraints. It detracted from the believability of the romance - and for me this is a big factor when it is about real life and not set in a fictional world with mythological creatures.

The audiobook was extremely well done, I have listened to a few of the narrator's works now and this solidifies her as one of my preferred people to listen to.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers as well as the author for an ARC and ALC of the book.

I love this book. The cover, the premise, the pay off...all perfection. This book had Ali Hazelwood energy and unique, diverse characters. Tris is a bit pretentious at times, but I think that makes sense trying to make her way in a male-dominated field. Rafe is everything. I loved them together and need like 6 epilogues please.

are we ok because i am not. this book flew to me to many places and all were off the scale wonderful. the locations. the setting. the scenes. the characters both on their own and together. whoopie! this book was fab.
the tension banter these two had for each other was toe curling fabulous.
i also loved the deeper parts. the careful parts between the pair. the moment of banter and flirting was cool. but the tender and warmth that then got going was all it took to have me mushy.
this wasnt without its depth in every sense. not least because of how it talk about our female characters troubles at work. and i wanted to rage for her. the unfairness of it all wasnt a story. it was real for so many woman i felt her words, her thoughts, her feeling couldve been our own. and add to that a woman of color. maaaaan! the injustice of it all was so well told. but it also managed not to drag you away too far too often so that your rage at the machine took you away from these two. and these two is exactly where you need to be, where you want to be. if anything it only added the realness to it all.
loved this book. couldnt love it more.
its the book you feel sad to leave. its the book you want to wipe from your memory so you can read it again. its the book that you wish you were a teen again so you could fold over pages and underline parts!

This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2025 and I hit request as soon as I saw it was available. Sadly, it was such a let down for me.

First of all, the dynamic between the FMC and MMC was like a damp flannel. There was absolutely no chemistry between them and honestly, the whiplash I experienced was INTENSE. One minute they’re flirting and then they’re not talking etc for about 80% of the book. Then suddenly they’re all over each other cos they can’t get enough of each other and in love with each other. I know this is a work of fiction, but this was not believable in the slightest.

Secondly, Tris is unbearable. I couldn’t stand her from the beginning of the story. She hates herself but knows how great she is, which she points out often enough. She hates Rafe but will not shut up about him at any point. She’s meek and mild but buying LV luggage after blackmailing her bosses. Just no. She is not someone I’d want to meet.

Thirdly, the amount of smiles Rafe has is out of this world and half of the words in this story are about every different one of them. It got to a point where if I saw the word smile, I was skipping over that part.

This could have been so good. It has such a good premise. Unfortunately it fell majorly short.

A fantastic branch into contemporary romance for Tuli. Characters were likeable and believable, the setting was gorgeous and it was steamy without being too explicit.
I particularly loved that the romance wasn't the sole focus - looking at the marginalisation of women in STEM, particularly POC women was well done, demonstrating the daily micro-aggressions that aren't always visible to outsiders. I loved Trishara's final explosion at WMC - I've no doubt there are lots of readers that will wish they'd once done the same to an ex-employer!
I can't wait to see what comes next - whether fantasy or romance, I've no doubt it will be excellent.
