Brilliant! We meet again best friends Laura, Niamh and Becca. They’re dealing with menopause and everything life is throwing at them as well as they can; but with two of them about to unexpectedly become grandparents whilst navigating their lives it’s a miracle they’re still standing. This hysterical book made me nod my head in agreement more than once! A brilliant funny and emotional read.

Becca’s in her forties and wants to make this year really count.
She has the chance of a new job and a possible romance, life is looking great.
Her youngest son tells her his girlfriend is pregnant. His girlfriend’s mum just happens to be Becca’s best friend Niamh. Becca and Niamh realise they’re going to become grannies as well as dealing with everything being in your forties throws at you - menopause for one!
When Beccas new job includes reviewing a weekend retreat they both jump at the chance. Will yoga and wild water swimming enable them to forget everything for a few days or will it make their situation worse?

I loved this book and once I got reading it I couldn’t put it down, recommended

It was great to be back in the world of Becca, Niamh and Laura. As a 40 something woman myself it was very relatable. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and would definitely recommend it.

As a woman of a certain age, this hit home.
I would like have a strong friendship dynamic when times get tough and a second chance at love.

This was an uncomfortable/comfortable read full of uncertainties, friendship & hard truths.

Moving into the next phase of life doesn't have to be scary with family and friends to join the journey

In this funny new novel about female friendships and conquering middle age, readers follow Becca, Niamh, and their friends and families as they cope with the changes of life -- new jobs, new friends, and Becca’s son and Niamh’s daughter’s pregnancy. With a wild amount of challenges and joy ahead of them, both women decide to take full advantage of a weekend retreat from Becca’s new job in the hope that swimming and yoga will get them ready for becoming grandmothers and sustain their friendship in this new season of life. Entertaining, emotional, and enjoyable, readers will love Becca and Niamh’s relationship as it continues to evolve in this fun new novel. Their changing dynamic and the other character relationships really pull readers into the story, while the addition of new characters and challenges really add to their character arcs over the course of the novel. Deeply entertaining and well-written, readers will particularly enjoy Kennedy’s world-building and the vibrant settings that Becca and Niamh inhabit. The characters and settings are both detailed, complex, and entertaining, and the emotional storylines hit the right notes for fans of Freya Kennedy’s other books, so readers will love this funny, heartwarming, and emotional new title.

I was really in the mood for reading a light book about female friendships, and so when this book came along, I thought it would hit the spot, and it did! I didn't read the first book in the series, but this can easily be read as a standalone.

Becca is a woman "of a certain age". She is in her forties, divorced, and wondering what the future holds for her. She is working in a job she doesn't particularly like and finds herself not having enough time to do all the things she would like to do although her best friends Niamh and Laura are always up for adventure and have been in her life for a long time. When one of her son's drops a huge bombshell on her, she isn't entirely sure how to react; what is the balance between supportive and "wow, you really stuffed up there, didn't you?" e.g. parenting teens/young adults is HARD. Meanwhile, Niamh is trying desperately to juggle the load that comes along with having 4 children, even though her husband seems to be drifting away from her.

When the opportunity comes up to go on a women's retreat, the three friends find themselves doing things they never thought they would do......

In amongst work and parenting, Becca is trying to get a romance going with Conal, who is lovely but she really doesn't want to put too much on him at the stage their relationship is at because he might just run for the hills!

I really liked the relationship between the three women and even though I am a little older than the three of them, what they are going through is very relatable.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.

So cute! Fun read that had so many relatable parts. I had not read the first in the series, but it was not a big deal at all. This was a fun read.

If the only thing you get from this book is that you are not alone in the way you feel during menopause then Freya Kennedy job is done!

But on top of that you get a good plot, laugh out loud moments and likeable characters.

This is a must read for anyone out there!

I love this series!
Meeting Becca again and getting to know the inner workings of her friend Niamh was such a treat. It is so refreshing reading about women in their 40s with all their life experience, their problems, and their adventures.
"Stuck in the Midlife With You" is heartwarming, sensitive, relatable, and overall fun. Even though it is the second installment, it can easily be read as a standalone.
Here's to hoping there will be more books about Becca and her friends!

Heartwarming, funny and lots of mid-life angst for Becca and her friend Niamh. A treat to read about women of a certain age and the importance of friendship.

I started this book without realising it was book two in the series. I felt for me knowing the back story would have enhanced the story and the characters.

I’m always a fan of reading about women of a certain age as I approach that age too. It’s nice to know that the things we are thinking and feeling are normal and we are not alone.

An easy read and it was nice that it wasn’t ’the kids’ getting away and not thinking about responsibility but the middle aged mob!

Becca and her friends are entering their forties, and they are determined to make their lives ones that 16-year-olds themselves would be proud of. This phase of life is proving to be challenging and unexpected, but everything could be overcome with friends in your corner.

This was an enjoyable story that highlighted some of the struggles you might experience when entering a new phase of life. I loved how it highlighted the importance of friendship with a sprinkle of romance. There was humor and truth b*mbs. I did an immersive reading. Allie Croker did a wonderful job bringing the story to life. I will be going back and reading the first book.

I'm 32. Have very few close friends, I hope to continue this friendship into my forties. I loved the aspect of starting over a career & trying to find who you are. I got pregnant at a younger age (18) so I understood a lot of this novel & cannot wait for more of the fabulous forties series. Glad we got to hang out with Becca again! Thanks to Boldwood books and netgalley for this eARC!

Book Two in Freya Kennedy’s Fabulous Fourties’ Club Series “Stuck in the Midlife With You” hits shelves May 28, 2025. Thank you to @netgalley and @theboldbookclub for letting me have an advanced copy to review.
I admit I didn’t know this was a book two going into it, however I still found it easy to follow without having read the prior book. That being said I am definitely going back to read book one because I really enjoyed reading about Becca, her friends, and their adventures facing the next chapter of their lives together. I love books about friendship and that is definitely at the core of this story.
After finding a Time Capsule that Becca and her friends buried as teenagers (Book 1) Becca has been trying to make her life into something teenage her would be proud of, along with her two best friends. The news that she will soon be a grandmother spurs her on even more to chase the dreams she let die.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review!

I am truly on a roll with Boldwood Books at this point - this one was SO good! Characters in their 40's, engaging and witty banter, and a situation that has to be dealt with the most grace as possible.

I will say that I did feel this one was a bit off on the pacing at times - rushing in all of the "before" chapters and then getting really sluggish with the new baby. I still enjoyed it though and would call it a fun light read.

Thanks netgalley for allowing me to read a copy of this book. Families, friendships, females in their forties,flashes...of the hot variety! all make this an honest & funny read well worth giving a go.

I really enjoyed this book! I hadn’t read the first in the series but I think you don’t need to - to follow the story. I think the age likeness for myself hitting 40 made it an even more relatable read for me!
The characters are written really well - there is laughter, sadness and happiness too all whilst describing the truth of a certain age!
I’ll definitely be going to look for this authors other books and will go back and read the 1st.
Would definitely recommend if you are in or heading to your 40’s!
