In The Meritocracy Paradox, Castilla opens several boxes of meritocracy stacked together, unfolding each with excellent merit.
Castilla defines what meritocracy is, and with evidence, walks us through how it leads to a spiral of biases.
At the basis of this book lies Castilla’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, which was a pleasant surprise to come across.
While the book is science-based and critical, it is accessible and anyone interested in merit/meritocracy, EDI/DEI and how to make the world a better place would benefit from reading this book. Great for HR-P&C Departments, leaders, managers, EDI advocates and those who are ready to challenge their biases.
