Interesting look at what was thought to be one of the first introductions of the Chinese poem into French society. It turns out that in taking a closer look at it, it probably was a second hand understanding of a Chinese visitor, but it still takes a close historical look and what she did manage to get right, in addition to the inroads it made into Western society. The authors also explain how they were able to trace all of this using the historical record and why it took 50 years to get all of this together. Great read.
