Another phenomenal book by the amazing K.L. Walther! Boy was I excited to see yet another K.L. Walther book on netgalley and as usual it didn't disappoint. A First Time for Everything was a cute, funny yet serious and heartfelt read. We had tension, we had drama and we had the best friendships. The plot and characters were really well developed and just another book that seriously hit the spot.

K. L. Walther KNOWS how to write a coming of age YA book!!
This isn't a typical teenage romance book, it is so much more than that. It is about a young woman who wants her romance life to grow and evolve but she also wants to understand her brother and his future wife. This book is part family drama storytelling and part YA romance. You can see how Madeline, our teenager, tries to fit in with her older bridesmaid peers and her future sister in law whilst also not being bullied or under peer pressure. The miscommunication trope element comes from the family drama side of the story and all the cuteness and sweetness from Madeline dating.
Walther captured the teenage angst and self discovery so well you can completely put yourself in Madeline's shoes.
I received this book as an ARC and provide an honest review

a perfect book for teens and young adult. like perfect. for people of that age there is a certain wish-wash of feelings that are going round. and that you cant even go to your closest about. and this book kinder goes into all those things softly. and goes into things in a romance way that are gentle but gives the reader those sunshine moments even us ollllldies need. and coming back to that, even for us old age weirdos its still a lovely book and didnt feel to young at all.
the characters and how they interacted with each other is what really shone. the family dynamics many of which you could see snippets of all families.
i felt a bit for Mads at the start. as the adult here, i was concerned as to why this young girl needs to go on dates and be kissed when it wasnt or shouldnt " need" to be on her radar of on her tick list. but i think i read to much into that as a protective adult, ha.
but how it was all handled and the other family guided and getting to know her was simply adorable. and each character had their own perfect placing throughout the book. the cut moments and romance parts were all bubbly and smile worthy and the ending. well it ended just the way id hoped. although there was moments i was worried there! i thought they dont even do this to us adults in romance novels, surely they cant put her wrongly in a YA novel. no tough love please. but know i needn't have worried. all was better than fine.
a great book.

This was such a great book for YA readers but readers of all ages. It had family, weddings, romance, and discovering yourself all wrapped up in one. It had The Summer I turned pretty vibes and was very enjoyable to read. If your looking for a night light hearted read for YA readers with some important life lessons sprinkled along in this book look no further.
