Ahhhhh!!!! We've been waiting for a new doggie book to add to our collection. The Biggest Dog In The Book did not disappoint. The story starts off with Agnes, a teeny tiny Chihuahua, who likes cuddles, cushions, and going on walks. But, she is NOT the biggest dog in the book. So who is?

Little readers get to go on a walk with Agnes, where she is joined by lots of dog friends along the way. And, they keep getting bigger, and bigger! They journey down the street, into the park and over the stream, all in search of the biggest dog in the book.

We love the gentle repetition, as each new friend is introduced. And, were thrilled to see that the dog breeds were included, from Popcorn the Beagle and Poncho the Dalmatian to Mr Alphonso the Labrador and Valentine the German Shepherd. This is a fab little extra, that adds another layer of fun learning.

The story sounds delightful read out loud, and makes for a strong all-rounder that can be read anytime, any place! It's bouncy and fun, with gorgeous little details about the dogs personalities. We especially love Shelby the dog who is just brilliant, and so relatable!

The illustrations are stunning, comical and so full of life. They really capture the spirit and energy of each dog so beautifully!

If you're a fan of Hairy Maclary, you will love The Biggest Dog In The Book by Ben Lerwill and Mark Chambers.

Size might not matter as much as you think, as we see a parade of pooches on these pages, culminating in the biggest in the book, which is so big we get a fold-out final page surprise to get it all in properly. But once that surprise is had, I can't see the need for reading this again – it is rather light on narrative, and while its message of celebrating our differences (and not just our dimensions) is a welcome one, it's not that entertainingly delivered. Three and a half stars.

An enjoyable book for young children. It had lovely colourful illustrations to engage the younger readers. I look forward to sharing a physic6copy with my class.

A nice picture book for young readers aka kids who are read to. It is full of opportunities to interact. Kids can search for their favorite dog, name the breeds, watch out for things the dogs have in common.

Review to come on June 4th to blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley/publisher in exchange of an honest review.

In this adorable book we meet a whole slew of cute and fun dogs! Because of this book who is the biggest dog? I came across this book on BlueSky and had to request it immediately when I spotted it up on Netgalley. Thank you to the publisher!

Everyone who knows me knows that I am not really into repetition that much. I don’t mind it in little doses but some books just go overdose with it. And as soon as the book started I was worried that maybe I wouldn’t like it so much, but in the end I can tell you that it wasn’t that bad. Because what helped for me was that there was much more to just figuring out who the biggest dog is and seeing us go from small dog to bigger and bigger. For instance each time we level up (as I would call it) we get a different breed of dog. We start with Agnes who is a Chihuahua then we go to Magnus who is a dachshund and as each page went on I was curious about which breed we would get. And of course, hoping that maybe King Charles Cavaliers would be part (sadly no, but we did get a different and bigger spaniel type so I will take it).

Plus, we also see that the dogs know each other, each time the group grows. And we see them go to the park. So there is a whole story and a lot more elements than just the Biggest Dog. So in the end I was just curious who would get added to the crew of dogs. What kind of cutie would we see next? What is their name?

OH, and there is also plenty to see on each of the pages. Including finding a plushie that belongs to the one of the dogs and a friendly pigeon that pops up as the dogs go by.

I loved seeing who was the biggest and I had a giggle when we got to Shelby. I thought this is it, but then something happens I was just giggling. Nicely done, author and illustrator!

The illustrations by Mark Chambers were, as I expected, perfect. I loved the style, the colours, the details, everything. It was just too fun!

All in all, if you are looking for a hilarious boko and want to learn more about dogs then this one is for you! Read it~

I thought that this was a fun book and a great story!

The Biggest Dog in the Book is a lovely children's picture book about all about different types of dog. It has some wonderful illustrations which help to bring the story to life and it is a must for any younger children with dogs as they will genuinely enjoy it.

The story is well planned out and it is spot on for the age group. It is well written and it has a great flow to the story. My daughter read it and really enjoyed the story and she did have a couple of giggles as the book progressed and she liked seeing the different types of dog too. It was a fun read overall.

It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

A wonderful [picture book with vivid and detailed illustrations. The repetition works well for early years language acquisition. Definitely one to read aloud with an EYFS or Year 1 class.

Wonderful and fun to look at illustrations which provide plenty to talk about with young readers alongside the story itself. The story introduces lots of breeds of dogs until reaching the biggest dog in the book - lovely repetitive phrasing for youngsters to join in with which will make this a firm favourite.

This book was an excellent illustrated book about all different kinds of dog breeds. It was an easy book to read and share with my son, with clear pictures, repetitive language and fun lines about different dogs.

This book would be great for those of a Pre-School age, but my six year old son also really enjoyed it.

Excellent cute book for very young readers/toddlers and makes for a good bed time read.
It helps with the adjectives and the encouragement, the lesson and the engagement are all top level for the 0-3-year-olds. Many 4-6 yos would also enjoy this.
