Neale's book is broader than I expected.
I thought she would focus on sailboats.
Instead, she considers nearly every possible boat, including houseboats!

Upon simple reflection, this is understandable: the mechanics of boat buying vary little whether you're purchasing a 100 ft sailboat or a 10 ft dinghy.

Here are the highlights:

BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand

Shop for insurance before making an offer.

Ask the surveyors for a sample report they made.

3 things must happen when surveyors show up:
1) In-the-water survey
2) Haul-out for an out-of-the-water survey
3) Trial run

Rule of 3 for boat repairs: the repair will take three times longer and cost three times more than planned.

Boats are expensive.
Consider this book a cheap insurance policy.
It may end up saving you far more than what it cost you to buy the book.
