This book hits the Goldilocks zone of bringing complex scientific concepts to lay language without being condescending to its reader, and that makes it a fascinating read for people interested —but still not very knowledgeable— in astronomy.
I myself am in that group, so I can't judge it from a specialist point of view, but I found it perfect: it opened the door to a more profound understanding of the why and how of things, the enormous variety in our cosmos, the incredible possibilities out there. I'd even go as far as recommending this read to any new sci-fi writers — not as limitations, but as fantastic new inspiration.

A fun and informative read about the exoplanets.
Kaltenegger is enthusiastic and intrigue-provoking in her writing.
If you are looking for a more conversational and anecdotal book on exoplanets, this is a good read.
If you are looking for more depth, sophistication, and a scientific approach, then you may skip this one.
3.5 stars.

Thoroughly enjoying this book but not actually reading it. My husband is glued to this book only surfacing to quote bits of it or to eat. Apparently is is very readable even for those who know little science and cosmology ( only watching Brian Cox on TV). Fascinating apparently. Buy it now and enjoy some quiet time to yourself. Actually I am intrigued enough to read it when he eventually finishes.
