Fantastic read. Loved the sisterly relationships and did not see where the story was going at all

The Missing Half is a gripping thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. . The plot is filled with unexpected twists and turns, making it impossible to predict what will happen next with a ending that i truly did not see coming...
Ashley Flowers writing is both engaging and suspenseful, with well-developed characters that add depth to the narrative.
The pacing of the novel is so very good with just the right amount of tension to keep readers hooked The setting is vividly described, creating an immersive atmosphere that enhances the overall reading experience.
Overall, The Missing Half is a must-read for fans of the thriller genre. It combines a well-crafted plot, dynamic characters, and a suspenseful atmosphere to deliver a truly unforgettable reading experience. Highly recommended!

i cant imagine the ongoing and life long effect it would have on me if a sibling went missing. it would take part of your heart away. you can easily see this in this book and the detailed way it describes that ripple effect is really well done. especially the hart ache on this sister who is left behind. and how its even worse because noone knows what happened. the police dropped it. the only thing they know is her car was left miles from home, no sign of robbery as her purse was left untouched. but nothing...nothing else. the only tentative link they all have is there was a similar disappearance of another girl around the same time.
it was at this point i was coming up with all sorts of answers and theories. but im glad to say i was wrong on all fronts and Ashley takes some brave but well paid off avenues to the truth. and the ending is one i actually didnt see coming.
this is a raw and exposing book and you will need your tears or clenched fists about you throughout. its hard. its tough. but on this topic it fits the topic so well. that feeling you get reading the book is barely a whisper of what must be the reality so those "hhhh" moments we fab and pushed you as far as you emotions could go via a book.
this book takes you into this family and centers mostly around the two sisters left behind. one is Nic whos life stalled. she lost her everything. her other half. part of her soul. she hasnt come anywhere since. she is simply surviving not living. her mum and dad have shattered apart in their own detrimental ways.
she knows there is more to kasey going missing. but she has no help. no way to find out.
but when Jenna the sister of the other missing girls seeks her out with a possible clue there is nothing in Nic that could ever stop her going forward with Jenna and finding out more. she knows it might hurt. she knows its feels almost too much to bare trying. but she cant say no. shes in.
what awaits its secrets and dangers. and what comes about is more than she thought possible in the worst of ways. along the way just who can she trust. and at the end of it will she have a worse conclusion then she was left with before?

Ashley Flower's second novel follows two sisters who have experienced a great loss. Two weeks apart, Jenna's younger sister Jules vanished with nothing but her car at the side of the road, followed then by Nic's older sister Kasey, who disappeared under the same circumstances. It's been years, and still there are no answers when Jenna approaches Nic, intending to find out what happened. Nic is not ready to open that box of pain, but her drive for answers wins. Nic and Jenna team up in the search to find out what happened.
This book is set in Indiana, which is where Ashley Flowers was born. You can tell the author knows the setting well, and even though I have no knowledge of the places mentioned, she made it easy to follow, reminding me to never go near a swamp. The location of the book comes in second, with the characters being the main stars of the show. Nic and Jenna are two different personalities that jump off the page. They give younger and older siblings energy, which I think was an intentional choice as that's what they had both lost; it was smart how it was woven into their relationship from the start.
I originally had my idea about this story pinned down quite early on and was in fear it was going to be predictable, even if well written. This story was not predictable. Once the reveals started to come in, I was left impressed. The way we were led to think one thing to have it turned on its head, was well done and made you second-guess the next thing to be revealed. It was a set up to a story most of us true crime consumers had heard before, but it led us to a different outcome than one we've come to expect. I loved that this book did something completely different with the ending and didn't shy away from being bold.
Overall, I enjoyed this. If you're looking for a short fast fast-paced thriller that will keep you on your toes with a great ending, I would recommend this book. Other titles I would recommend if you like this one: Darling Girls by Sally Hepworth, following foster sisters wrapped up in a mystery and She and I, following best friends who are as close as sisters, wraped up in a murder investigation.
