a truly engaging and thoughtful read. you feel for our characters and want to read to the end to know how their story will play out. i was fully invested in this story and i dont usually go for this genre so im so glad i took the punt.
Paloma is our main character for this book. she is dealing with such hurt an pain in her life. shes been dealing with such trauma over her miscarriages and the grief feels constant. as we dive into this with Paloma there is nothing but pain for her from my own point of view. i felt for her ever so much and her agony was so well written you could feel it too.
Paloma has visions though. visions she thinks are predicting futures. and now she finds herself needing to take them on a different way, can they be what she needs to embrace things. can they help her reveal parts of her own life that could create a space of healing?
i really enjoyed this book. each part seemed so well thought out. there was a moment or everything and it was almost like she was telling us when to pause, think and when to learn from this book. i was compelled more and more to continue reading and the writing style allowed for that perfectly. the scene setting was also right on point and somehow that feeling of where Paloma lived felt right into it with her emotions, our emotions and the story we are being told.
Paloma as a character had already been through so much in her life. and now as an adult it seems holy unfair of what she was dealing with now. and is too often the case those around her just dont seem to always 'get it'like they should be doing.
the elements of this book all link and play together well. the arcs and the themes all have the purpose to make you truly feel something all the way through.
it of course has some obvious trigger warning that for those that are going through or have been through similar i think would find this incredibly too much if they know in themselves they have definitely got to a place of being able to 'cope' (ugh sorry seems like such a yuckly word when it comes to this topic.)

I really liked this book. It took a minute to get into because I was not in the right headspace and when I came back to finish it, I really enjoyed the story. I think it is kind of a cozy mystery, a little psychology, a little small town mystery, and a little magic. The characters are relatable and interesting and the story moves along. While this isn't a short story, it flew by like one. I only wish Paloma had met Auntie Ruby earlier in the book because I thought she was an interesting addition. This was a great way to spend an afternoon.
