Emily Shiner is one of my favorite authors and I enjoyed this book. The back and forth between the two main characters was interesting because you never really knew who the villain was. How far would you go to protect what’s yours?

I was invested in the story right from the start. I loved how the story was pieced together from not only the POV of the two main characters, Charlotte and Sophia, but also from someone simply described as “her”. While the story was mainly set in the present, the chapters set in the past helped with character developments. I kept changing my mind about both Charlotte and Sophia throughout the book, where I would side with one, and then the other. The twists throughout the book kept me wanting to read more and the more I read, the harder it got to put the book down until the last 25% where I ignored my family and finished it. The only negative for me is that I wanted a further epilogue but this could just be because I was enjoying the book so much that I didn’t want it to end.

Emily Shiner is one of my favourite authors and I look forward to reading more by her.

WOW. Emily Shiner knocks it out of the park yet again. What Every Mother Needs is a fast paced, riveting and anxiety inducing thriller. I couldn’t put it down, and I was at the edge of my seat, biting my nails the whole time!

Charolette is mourning the loss of her husband and struggling with managing postpartum and grief hand in hand when a random woman claiming to be her sister in law shows up at her door step. This book is a page turner from start to finish! Although I found some parts to be predictable I couldn't slow down, I couldn't wait to finish it and put the pieces together.

Loved the characters the plot the twists everything was spot on brilliant thriller !

The twists in this book are unbelievable. It is a little bit creepy but addictive. I like that it ends on a cliffhanger so I am eager for the next book to find out what happens. The characters are likeable and I enjoyed the thrills in the plot.

Another amazing book, by Emily Shiner, wow, I could not put this one down, I was addicted straight away, what an amazing twist.

A brilliant ending which ended on a cliffhanger, very good story and couldn’t even imagine how it would end, looking forward to the next one though in the future AAA

I love Emily Shiner, and she never disappoints. This was SO good, and i didn't want to stop reading. It's got a great pace and could easily be binged if time allowed.

One thing that Emily always handles well is the twists. I can never pinpoint exactly how it will go. She keeps you so interested to the last second, and you still won't know where it is headed. I don't want to write anything definitive because i don't want to spoil it for anyone, but trust me, this one is so satisfying.

This was easily one of the better thrillers i have read recently.

Charlotte and Sophie. Both of these women are liars. One is a killer. Who is really in danger in this house?

This book is amazing and perfectly paced. And my favorite part....short chapters. The ending though...I'm hanging from a cliff and want more!

Charlotte is a widow with only her baby Jordan to keep her moving through her grief. A knock at the door brings an unanticipated guest. Sophie, her deceased husband’s sister is grieving too but wants to help to care for Jordan. Charlotte can definitely use the help, and let’s Sophie in.
The story alternates between Charlotte and Sophie. They are both hiding devastating secrets. But one of them is not only a liar, but a killer too.
I don’t want to give anything away, so I’ll just say Lawrence (the dead husband and brother) was a real piece of work, at least according to these women. Also, one of these women should never be left alone with a baby.
Lots of twists and turns and short chapters made this a very good morning treadmill read. The ending. Well, just say that someone is going to be quite surprised when she gets home.
This was my first read by this author, and it definitely won’t be my last.

Uggghhhh!!!! Emily, why oh, why must you continue to write books that force me to lose sleep so I can keep reading??

This story is written from the point of view of two main characters, Charlotte and Sophie. The storyline also alternates between present and past. While in the past, the point of view is from someone referred to simply as "Her" leaving the reader to ponder the female's identity.

When Charlotte's husband dies, Sophie shows up on her doorstep, claiming to be her late husband's sister. Charlotte frustrated me as I found her to be spineless and weak. Sophie outdoes herself, gaslighting Charlotte. I can't help but think about how easy it was, but I wasn't surprised, given how Charlotte is portrayed as such a pushover.

About half way through the book, the twists begin. They just kept coming and coming until the very end. I'm just so annoyed that there's a cliffhanger ending!!!

Oh holy Moses!! Emily Shiner knocks another one out of the park. This was deliciously dark and creepy. Not a minute’s rest in this story. Perfectly imperfect characters kept me reading long into the night. Don’t let this one pass you by.

This book is amazing. I had a sense of what I thought was going on then my mind was blown. I see alot of twists coming but this book got me good and proper.
Amazing writing.
Perfectly paced.
Bingeable.
I already can't wait for the next book.

Wow this is a dark read about a young woman raising her child alone after the death of her husband, when someone turns up at the door claiming to be sister in law she feels like her prayers have been answered as she finally has some help around the house but she is hiding secrets of her own and has Charlotte let a complete stranger into her life and is she a danger to her daughter. This is a dark story about control and loss but a great read! Don’t miss!!

This starts off good, then I got to 10% and wow!!!! I was invested and found it difficult to put my kindle down. Short chapters and a great storyline, slightly frustrating characters too, just made me fly through this. I also had to look up and purchase a previous book by this author. Wow wow wow thank you so much for early access. I would certainly recommend.

Emily Shiner has done it again! Another fast paced, twisty thriller that leaves you wondering until the end. After I read The Nanny Share, I was so excited to receive this one as an ARC.

Charlotte is a newly widowed new mother of baby Jordan. She places an ad for hired help and Sophie shows up at her door. Sophie is her sister-in-law that Charlotte hasn't ever heard of or met, so why is she here?

Weird things begin to occur and it makes you wonder if anyone is who they claim to be.

A solid 4 star read and it left me dying for more books from Emily Shiner!!!

I read an ARC from NetGalley. I felt that this book could have been way shorter. I also felt that the ending was rushed and out of character. I never try to guess the twists, but I felt like most of them were obvious.
