This was a relatively short read; I'd classify it as Young Adult.

Yasmin, the main character, has obsessive tendencies, and at school she obsesses over Alice. Alice and Yasmin are drawn as contrasting characters - Alice is beautiful and popular, whereas Yasmin doesn't fit in the same way.

In watching Alice, Yasmin notices that Alice is being watched by a man. Yasmin decides that the only way to save Alice is to befriend this man, Samuel. But Yasmin's figure of obsession changes as Samuel appears to accept her and appears to share the same love of sweet treats (Yasmin has issues with emotional eating). Yasmin does not share any knowledge of Samuel when Alice does go missing, and it is clear that she will do anything to protect him.

The ending to this novel wasn't particularly satisfactory and left me with more questions unanswered. I'm not really a reader of YA and for me the story was a little implausible and far fetched, but what I did like was how it dealt with important issues such as eating disorders, bullying, and the death of a parent, and the book was well written and a fun read in parts. If you are a YA fan then you will most likely enjoy this novel.

Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for this ARC.
