Jeneva Rose has once again proven her storytelling brilliance in Dating After the End of the World, a delightfully original, witty, and surprisingly heartwarming take on love in the most unexpected circumstances. From the first page, I was hooked—drawn in by the sharp dialogue, the quirky yet endearing characters, and a premise that’s as hilarious as it is thought-provoking.

This book balances humor and humanity perfectly. The post-apocalyptic setting somehow enhances the romance rather than overshadowing it, and Rose manages to find emotional depth in even the most absurd situations. The chemistry between the characters feels authentic, and the journey they take together—both emotionally and physically—is one that’s equal parts hilarious, awkward, and moving.

What I loved most was the book’s ability to be both laugh-out-loud funny and deeply insightful. Rose captures the chaos and vulnerability of modern dating, then cranks it up by setting it after the end of the world—and yet, it all feels relatable. It’s not just a romance or a comedy or a dystopian story; it’s a clever, refreshing mash-up that defies genre in the best way.

I absolutely loved this book and am desperate for a sequel. These characters and their world have stuck with me long after I turned the last page. I’d reread it in a heartbeat—and probably will.

If you’re looking for a clever, heartfelt, and completely unique read, Dating After the End of the World is a must. Jeneva Rose, please give us more!

I received this book as an ARC on NetGalley, thank you Montlake Publishing and Jeneva Rose for the opportunity!

At this point I’m convinced that Jeneva could write about her day to day tasks and magically make it an amazing and fantastic read. This is easily my favorite read of 2025.

The most unique aspect of this book (Dating After the End of the Word) is you get a little bit of everything with it: Zombies, post-apocalypse, humor, enemies to lovers, father daughter dynamics (that span through teens to young adulthood), horror, violence, suspense, spice and one heck of a good story. I think anyone who enjoys any of those individual themes would find themselves throughly enjoying this book as it’s not heavy in any specific theme, it’s a perfect balance in all honestly. You get just enough of every element, which really showcases Jenevas talent as a writer. I bet you’ll find yourself becoming a fan of new themes by the end of it.

Jeneva once again gives us a strong lead character that you can instantly relate to and builds on that through a gripping storyline and equally enjoyable supporting characters, through their relationships with the main character and each other. The banter is GREAT!

I knew 50 pages in that I was going to be upset when I finished this book, because it was that good from the start. I had to give myself restrictions on how much I was allowed to read a day so I could stretch it out as long as possible. I’m a sucker for anything zombie apocalypse and who doesn’t love a good enemies to lovers?! I would absolutely love for this to be a movie one day!

I truly hope to see more books like this from Jeneva in the future.
Also, shoutout to her Dad for asking her to do a zombie story and us getting this absolutely great read from it!

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Unfortunately, Dating After the End of the World was not for me.

My biggest complaint is the main character, Casey. Casey is extremely immature and delusional throughout the entire book. It was very frustrating as the reader and made me detached from the book. I didn’t particularly care what happened.

I also didn’t love how many characters there were. It was hard to remember who is who. Lastly, I think this book was just trying to do too much at once. The romance didn’t feel nature to me. The apocalypse storyline was quite odd and some parts didn’t really make sense.

I loved this one! Not something I would normally gravitate to but since I love all Jeneva Rose books I needed to read this one as well. It was definitely a fun read!

If you like a enemies to lovers sprinkled in with humor and gore. This is the book for you.

The story follows Casey Pearson, who, after leaving her doomsday-prepping father behind at eighteen, is forced to return home when a viral outbreak turns people into zombie-like creatures.

Upon her return, she discovers her father has formed a survivalist compound that includes Blake Morrison, her high school nemesis.

As everybody tries navigate the challenges of the new world, Casey and Blake’s relationship evolves from adversarial to something more.

I mean it’s the end of the world, you can still fall in love

Zombie apocalypse and enemies to lovers with some comedy thrown in sign me up!! Jeneva is queen of twists and wtf moments in her writing and this book did it again. The banter throughout had me laughing and loving every minute of it. Casey is a very stubborn and outspoken FMC who has easy for me to love. Blake is just yummy even when he’s a bully 😂😂. I don’t want to give the book away but as always prepare for anything to happen. I laughed, I cried and then the ending I said WTF we need more!!

Did Jeneva Rose just make apocalyptic romance the next IT genre? I think so!

This book is a phenomenally original and captivating read. From the start I was completely hooked and could not put it down. It was tense, yet funny, but also eerie, and believable. Basically, it was everything you could possibly want in this unique genre.

Jeneva Rose proves she is a master at her craft, regardless of the genre. Pick this one up asap!!!

Thank you to Jeneva for allowing me to beta read this story & to the publisher for the gifted ARC

This was so fun and unique! I loved having romance and an apocalyptic suspense book all in one. This is a great palette cleanser and a read for a fun, silly mood. The zombie outbreak was written really well and the book definitely keeps you drawn in!

Not my favorite. It was what she said it was, but again, not my favorite. It leaves a cliff-hanger, which I hate and there were some gaps I was interested in having filled in the back stories. It was entertaining enough. but I won't read the sequel.

What a wonderful, raw and gritty story Dating After the End of the World by Jeneva Rose, published by Montlake, was.
I read the book a few days ago and the story still stays with me.
Casey is a 29 year old doctor in residence when the whole world changes in the span of a few days. The apocalypse is upon humankind and surviving is the first goal.
She makes it home to her prepper father out in the woods, oonly to learn the bane of her teenage existence, Blake something, is living at her father's compound and taking over the reins. Furious, but powerless she has to adapt, and adapting she does. So here it is: I fif not like the male main character, at all. He's all what I strongly dislike in a book hero and I just couldn't warm up to him. But the book and the storyline is so so so good, I still read the whole thing in one single sitting, cover to cover. It's literally unputdownable, goes on my re-read pile and maybe, just maybe I like him a bit better on a second go. I recommend the book that deserves all the stars.

Ok to be honest I didn’t know where this was going to end up as far as a rating.

If you read this as an apocalyptic thriller- solid 4 stars.
If you read this as a romance that it’s being marketed as then it’s gonna be a 2. Sorry.

Overall I really enjoyed the story but it could’ve been so much better if we just left the romance (or whatever that was- I couldn’t let go of his”justification” for being a total a** and clearly she’s too quick to forgive men) out of the book. BUT if you’re willing to overlook that part I think you’ll find this enjoyable!

This book was absolutely amazing. Literally, go pre-order it right now!
After reading The Perfect Marriage, I was an immediate Jeneva Rose fan. This is the 5th book of hes I've read and when she says the genre is unhinged, she means it. Dating After the End of the World is not something I would have normally picked up, but for Jeneva, I was willing to give it a shot and I am so glad I did. I am also extremely grateful to have received an ARC from the publisher on NetGalley.
This isn't your regular enemies to lovers story; it's an exploration of human connection, survival and the things we find within ourselves once the world around us is gone. The characters are believable and add a layer of depth and a bit of comedy to the apocalypse. I love the way we learn about Casey's past via flashback. You get just enough of the past to gain understanding of the characters, but not so much that it feels like two different stories.
While I'm not usually much for lots of gore, it was done so well in this book that I didn't really mind it. The story moves at a steady pace and takes you through all the emotions. Sure, it's a book about zombies, but it also about love, forgiveness and the bonds we form when we have nothing else left.
I started this book with my jaw on the floor and ended in tears. All I wanna know now is, when's the next one?

100 percent Jeneva’s best book. I devoured this book. The ending left me sad, but hopeful for a sequel. I will definitely recommend this book to everyone and can’t wait for more by Jeneva!

While the heroine got on my nerves after a while, I still liked this one a lot. It was a fun low stakes romance, with zombies to boot. An easy summer read.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I loved it! I have never read a post apocalyptic book before and this had just the right amount of chaos, humor and ,of course, romance. You will fall in love with the characters (and maybe end up hating some too). Casey and Blake have a past. Blake made her high school years a nightmare. Throughout this story you go through their present day relationship where they are forced to be back in each other's presence after the end of the world. There are also glimpses of their troubled past and how they became enemies. They can only keep their feelings for each other hidden for so long. If youre looking for a book that doesn't fit in a bubble or specific genre then this is it!

This is my first ARC read and I am so happy it was. This book kept me intrigued throughout each chapter. The banter alone has made this book. So far this is my favorite book of the year. :🧟‍♂️🪿

I never thought I’d enjoy a zombie/apocalypse novel — but Dating After the End of the World by Jeneva Rose completely proved me wrong. Think Hallmark-like romance meets zombie outbreak — and yes, it works so well.

From the very first page, I was hooked. This book made me laugh, cry, and feel every emotion in between. One moment I was grinning at the banter, the next I was unexpectedly emotional — especially during Chapter 40, which absolutely wrecked me in the most beautiful way. It was tender, heartfelt, and packed with meaning — a moment I’ll be thinking about for a long time.

What makes this book so special is how clearly Jeneva’s voice shines through. Her humor, heart, and honesty come alive on every page. The premise grabbed me instantly: a doomsday-prepper dad builds a survival compound, and when the apocalypse hits, his now-adult daughter (a doctor) returns… only to find her high school bully has also taken shelter there. What follows is a perfect blend of romance, redemption, and survival.

The zombie elements were compelling, but the real strength of this book lies in the relationships. The banter between Casey and Blake had me smiling the whole way through, and the dynamic between Casey and Tessa was just as delightful. I tore through it in one sitting — it's that good.

I recommend everything Jeneva Rose writes, but this book is something truly special. If you're looking for a story full of heart, humor, and hope — with a little undead chaos thrown in — this is it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for my ARC!
