It was a first book i have read from this author, haven't read any of the previous work.

Miss Mary is a pure, innocent woman who was unfortunate enoght to catch an eye of Lord Andrew Framlington who is looking for a rich, faithful wife.
Although i liked the ending, this book was not an easy read because i couldn't find Andrew a good man. I know, he was supposed to be like that (i think), but his actions were triggering me too much. I understand it was meant like that for the plot, but he was really un-likeable to me. I was worried Mary would end up in a loveless, sad marriage, but i thin they worked out at the and.

I liked other sub-characters tho.

I think i need to read some other books from this author to check out, if they have MMCs who i will like more than Andrew here.

I'm reviewing this via NetGalley, as part of a tour with Rachel's Random Resources.

This Regency romance is the first in a series. When Mary Marlow meets Lord Andrew Framlington (“Drew” to his nearest and dearest), she finds herself drawn to him. The attraction grows stronger, despite the warnings of others who believe he may be bad news. Drew has something of a reputation, but Mary makes him feel something that no other woman ever has.

I found that Drew made me swoon a little bit, and in some ways, I connected more with him on an emotional level than with Mary, though I liked them both. I felt the author did a great job of creating chemistry between the characters, whilst still focusing on the romance and the connection. This was quite satisfying to read, as it had just the right amount of spice, with some heart-fluttering moments as well.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rachel's Random Resources, Boldwood Books, and to the author, for the opportunity to read and review this.

Lord Andrew (Drew) Framlington is on the hunt for a rich wife and where better than to select one of the wealthy debutantes who attend the season’s most fashionable balls and soirées. However, Andrew is utterly bored by simpering young women, that is until he spots the delightful Miss Mary Marlow, and the chase is on. Unfortunately, Drew’s reputation as a rogue goes before him and Mary’s family are very protective of their daughter so Drew’s persistence is about to be tested to the limit.

This is a fun Regency romp which has everything you need to stir the senses, from a handsome, but troubled leading man, to a young ingénue who, despite her protective lifestyle, knows her own mind and when she sets her sights on Drew, well, let’s just say sparks are about to fly. There’s a real authentic feel to the story, the Regency world comes alive, from elegant ballrooms, to the secrecy of a gentleman’s club and the delicious temptation of a secluded summerhouse, the story comes alive with passion and more than a hint of spice.

The Dangerous Love of a Rogue is sheer escapism from start to finish and whilst it is the fifth book in the Marlow Intrigues series, it is possible to read it as a standalone story. Since its original publication in 2015 the book has now been recently re-published by Boldwood Books, with a delightful new cover.

This was not for me! I did enjoy the characters, but overall the story was just off. There was just something about it that I could not get into,

I really liked the characters in this book, but had a hard time getting into it. Once the story progressed and I got to see Drew and Mary's relationship deepen, I was hooked! I think that made the ending less satisfying. I know it's meant to leave the door open to interpretation, but I would have liked a more developed ending.

Lord Andrew Framlington (Drew) is an excellent reformed rogue and Mary is his ideal counterpart. Too bad nobody knows that Drew is reformed and Mary's family forbids her from interacting with him, much less marrying him. Their chemistry is undeniable and if I wasn't so deeply mad at the ending, I would rate this book higher.

Set in the historical fiction romance era of promenades and debutante balls, this is the story of Miss Mary Marlow, who falls in love with the rogue Lord Andrew Framlington. She has been told to stay away from him, but no reasons were given as to why. He intrigued her. Drew’s frivolous ways were forgotten when he began to pursue Mary for marriage.
He was broke and needed a substantial dowry—and Mary had that. He was tagged in society as a dowry seeker.
How he pursues Mary is interesting to read. I laughed at some parts and felt frustrated at others, as neither of them expressed their feelings—playing chess with each other instead.
Hence, the second installment is there to take the story further.
An interesting read.

I liked this romance. The main characters, Mary and Drew, are complex. He is a brooding hero, a rake, and a fortune hunter. She is an innocent debutante but a strong and stubborn heroine.
They come from very different families, one loving and one unloving and dysfunctional, and it shows in their behaviours. Their complex romance kept me hooked. However, I found the book ended too abruptly.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

What happens when a notorious rogue falls in love with a young lady-
Especially when she's an innocent and he's penniless and shady?
He endeavours to change his ways but it will take much more
For her family to agree their potential romance to explore!

He sets out to woo her with the aid of his friends
But remember this is a series when the story ends.
There's more to come involving these two
With potentially more for them both to go through.

For my copy of this book I say thank you
As I share with you this, my honest review.

I’m going to be honest, I couldn’t finish this book because Drew just made me so uncomfortable. He’s a creep, and for some reason Mary falls completely in love with him (after one dance) for it. The point where I’d had enough was when he jumps out from behind a hedge, blocks Mary’s path when she tries to get away from him, says to her, “Run, and my predatory instincts say, chase.” Umm excuse me?? Oh, and then after that he kisses her and starts grabbing her breast. And, for some reason, Mary secretly loves all this. Just… no. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind a good regency rake love story. But this guy was a plain ol’ predator.

The Dangerous Love of a Rogue by Jane Lark is the fifth book in the Marlow Intrigues series. I have not read any of the previous books in the series. At some point, I'd like to go back to the beginning and read the series in order.

I enjoyed the story of Andrew and Mary. He's a scoundrel and wants to marry a rich innocent to establish a stable future. He sets his eyes on Mary, the sister of a duke. His plan is to coerce her into loving him. Unfortunately, things like this happened often in the time period this book is set in, in fact, things like that still happen now.

Mary is a sweet, innocent young woman, but not so innocent doesn't that doesn't smell what Drew is cooking up. She knows loving him would be risky. She's determined to forge her own path, though, and I love her determination and strength.

The Dangerous Love of a Rogue is a wonderfully written Regency Romance. I enjoyed the story and the characters. There was depth to Mary and Drew. Both characters grew and matured throughout the book. I rooted for both of them to find the love within each other that they desperately needed, desired, and deserved.

Period dramas ? Literally drama in a period where even glancing to the wrong person could cause scandal? Got me there already. The book won me in the first sentence quoting Jane Austen Pride and prejudice. Is the way to my heart.

This is the story ( at least half of it) about a bastard rogue who needs to marry rich and he choses a sister of a Duke and he spends all book trying to conquer her heart and marry her. He is not marrying for love, he doesn’t believe in love. He is marrying by necessity. He is getting broke and needs to marry rich. And that is when she walked into his life.

In the beggining you are not going to like the main character neither his mission to marry a rich Lady to be far away from his world and the sins he and his family carry. He is trying to marry any girl, and she was just the one who smiled to him across the ballroom. So now he has a mission: to conquer her heart. But that’s okay he loves a challenge

He is a broken hero better say. Even if you don’t understand his way you understand his means, what moves him, and what he thrives for. Initially I thought he was a jerk trying to win a inocent heart and spend her money to sustain his desire of being free from his responsibilities as a rogue. However, he thinks this is only because of money, but we know deep down he has feelings for this girl more than he can admit and realize .

Forbidden love trope and love at the first sight trope (at least from her). And how far is she willing to go for love, she betrays her family trust, she lies for the first time, only to have his heart.

This was like a prey and predator game he chased her, she pretended she didn’t like it, but she did oooooh how much she liked to be under his eyes.

Their relationship was mainly physical, but then developed to something with love. Is what they say fake it till you make it. Drew was faking his love until he really felt love for her. Well he thought he was faking, but he was deeply in love with her.

Since their first dance he won my heart and I felt sparkles. I’m sorry, but since Mr Darcy I have become obsessed by gentleman who usually don’t follow the conventional path of manners.

I just didn’t expect to be as fast paced as it was but make sense his mission was suppose to be fast .

One of the downsides is sometimes is difficult to read or to get the meaning of the sentence due to the sentence construction or bad chosen words.

The only thing that annoyed me was that I think was unecessary to cut the book in half since it has only 200 pages. For me was a big downside.

Be carefull spoiler ahead: I know sometimes we don’t have a happily ever after but I read books to at least the main characters end happy not in a trap marriage, loveless, angry, full of miscommunication. So I didn’t agreed with the decision of cutting this original book in half, and not tell us (reviewers ) that they are going to do it so. Even though I liked the characters and the story i was upset the way the book ended.

Either way, thank you author and net galley. I enjoyed this book a lot.

Despite the familiarity of the 'girl falls for an unsuitable man' storyline, the author manages to dig deeper and inject realism and angst into this authentic historical tale. Drew is a likeable anti-hero who has plenty of reasons to play the obnoxious rake. The abuse he has suffered from people who should have protected him when he was young and vulnerable has left him emotionally scarred. It doesn't condone his treatment of innocent Mary, but it does explain it. Mary has the entire Marlowe clan in her corner, but her attraction to Drew makes her willing to threaten her family relationships. Mary's motivations are relatable. The cleverly drawn parallels with her mother and the cameos of family members who feature in other stories add to the richness of the tale. I like the intrinsic historical details and the engaging, vibrant characters.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

I appreciated the depth and understanding given to Andrew's character, but I could never fully understand his back story to know his motivations and decisions. The female is too naive for my taste, but it worked okay with the story. The story had a lot emotions on all characters, but lacked a cohesive depth that tied it all together

I did enjoy this book and I did like the main characters of Mary and Drew. Drew didn’t have a happy and loving childhood but I did think at times, he was his own worst enemy. He often acted without thinking what damage he did with his words and actions. Drew often hid his real feelings by putting on an act. Mary had experienced a completely different upbringing. She knew she was loved and protected by her family. They did have an instant attraction but Drew’s reputation was against him. I did think Mary’s older brother, Peter, was a bit of a hypocrite, after the life he had led. I did feel that the book ended rather abruptly and I looked to see if I had missed some pages! I have since found out that their story continues in the next book, which I have preordered. It was a very good read though, plenty of angst, some passionate scenes and it moved along at a good pace. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Drew Framlington, an unreformed rake and scoundrel, is in desperate need of a rich, innocent wife, preferably a beautiful one. His choice, after one glance at her, is Mary, half-sister to the Duke of Pembroke. Knowing that his suit wouldn’t be approved by her parents he sets out to make Mary fall in love with him so he can compromise her and get her fortune for himself.

I didn’t enjoy this book – Drew is one of the most unpleasant, stupid and nasty characters I have ever encountered in a book, he has no redeeming features. Mary is so naïve, believing his protestations of love when he has openly admitted he only wants to marry her for her money. As for the ending – pointless!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and, based on this, I won’t be reading any more

Good girl attracted to a bad boy.

Fans of historical romance, unlikable characters, and steamy content will enjoy The Dangerous Love of a Rogue.

The young woman's rebellion against her parents to pursue a forbidden romance creates a one-dimensional story with little opportunity to explore other themes. If you're looking for a story where steamy romance takes center stage, you will enjoy this story.

At the story's end, the characters left me little hope for an HEA.

Thanks #NetGalley @BoldwoodBooks for a complimentary eARC of #TheDangerousLoveOfARogue upoon my request. All opinions are my own.

Lord Andrew Framlington is known as a rogue of the highest order, a fortune hunter, a man without honour. He plans to marry a wealthy bride to secure his future… but beneath it all, could he be longing for something more, something real?

Miss Mary Marlow, the enchanting sister of a duke, is everything he should not want – innocent, fiercely protected by her powerful family and entirely out of reach. Yet from the moment he sets eyes on her, Drew knows she is the one. Not just for her fortune, but for the way she makes him feel.

Mary knows Drew’s reputation and the danger he poses, knows surrendering to him would be reckless, yet his charm and stolen kisses leave her breathless. Torn between duty and desire, she finds herself teetering on the edge of ruin.
