This book is the 3rd book in The Chicago Heartbreakers series, and my first read from this author.
Being that they are all standalones, I have no problem starting mid-series... and personally, I had no issues.
I enjoyed Harper and Jamil's romance. It was so sweet how they gravitated towards each other, and supported each other during the challenges that they faced. I have read a few baseball romances and this was just as enjoyable as most others.
𖹭 If you enjoy sports romance, and heart-warming romances, then this is for you.

I like the idea. I like the plot. I like the writing. I like Harper and Jamil. But I don't know much about baseball and at time I was a little bit lost. I would have like a bit more explanation to read feel like I was in it.

A cute romance with a baseball background. Harper and Jamil meet, then he goes back to the city he is based in. Then Harper gets transferred there and their paths cross again. Overall an easy and enjoyable read.

A sports romance you don't want to miss.
My favourite thing about Ally's characters is how relatable they all are!
Harper struggles deeply with being treated fairly in the workplace, an incredibly competitive area where men are seen as more insightful in the sports world. His fight to show her value is both inspiring and heartbreaking, and it is a lesson that we all need to learn from. Gender doesn't define our worth. Gender doesn't define what we can and cannot do with our lives.
Jamil, well, Jamil is just a heartbreaker that I am WAITING (but not patiently) for you to fall head over heels for! There are no red flags. This man is perfect. This insight is a perfect reminder that money doesn't solve everything, that money cannot make anyone perfect, that money cannot solve all their problems, but putting yourself first is the best thing you can do.
Harper and Jamil complement each other wonderfully, and the best part about Ally is that you can enjoy her romances without having to worry about explicit scenes. She does an excellent job of bringing the romance to the page without the need for graphic writing, which is a breath of fresh air sometimes.
Highly recommend this whole series <3

The Chicago heartbreakers series is by far one of my favourite book series. Triple Play is officially my absolute favourite book of the series !
I am such a big fan of the series, receiving the first two books as Arcs made me fall in love with this series in so many ways. So when I received Triple Play as an Arc I was so excited and it definitely didn't disappoint.
I absolutely loved Triple play. From the very start of the book I knew it was going to be a new favourite. The first chapter of the book sets the scene of the book so perfectly. I adore the two main characters, Harper and Jamil, I thought they were both so wholesome throughout the entire book. The chemistry between them was just perfect !
I loved the theme of found family showing the bonds between them and the characters from the rest of the series I thought it was portrayed so well.
This book definitely delivered ! It was charming, Wholesome and warm and has became one of my favourite books from the Chicago Heartbreakers series !
*Thank you Embla Books and NetGalley for providing me this Arc in return for an honest review*

Triple Play (Chicago Heartbreakers series) by Ally Wiegand is a great sports romance. I really enjoyed the first two books in the series so was looking forward to this one and it did not disappoint. It was a perfect short and sweet romance to read when travelling.
Summary: Sports reporter Harper gets a final career chance—until a fling with star player Jamil threatens to complicate everything professionally and emotionally.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an eARC of this book all thoughts are my own.

I love this series, although I was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t Olivia’s story however I am still hoping for that next . . .
Jamil is the star baseball player who is wanted for his good looks and star power rather than himself. Harper is a sports journalist who never feels good enough and is being pressured by her parents to find a better job. They meet one night when they both need a friend and think they won’t see each other again but Harper then gets transferred to cover Jamil’s games and her boss tasks her with breaking a story on him. Jamil is going through family drama with his brothers addiction and the last thing he needs is it getting out.

I don’t think this author is the right fit for me. I’ve read the two previous books in this series, but the characters just don’t have enough chemistry to really draw me in. Harper’s storyline felt overdone and didn’t bring anything new to the romance genre. The pacing was off, and the repetitive moments made it hard to stay connected to the characters’ journey.
Thanks to the author, Embla Books, and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Really enjoyable sports romance!
This is the third in a series from Ally Wiegand; Harper is an overachieving sports journalist who is overlooked on several occasions. Jamil is an excellent baseball player whose ability is overlooked for his charming good looks used for advertising. Both appear to be lost souls who find each other which I really love. Although the chemistry didn't sizzle as much in this novel compared to the first one, I really enjoyed seeing these characters develop their strengths throughout the pages - Harper standing up to her boss & Jamil getting to grips with his brother's addictions. Thanks to Net Galley for the advanced copy.

Harper and Jamil meet in a bar one night, neither sharing who they really are, so when she is reporting on his games he is surprised to see her. She needs a promotion and can he help her get there? I liked how it was told from both points of view.

Not as strong as the first two books but still a solid, reliable sports romance that was unputdownable. Harper and Jamie have great chemistry, and I love how the found family has strengthened since the first book.
I think the big issue for me is that the plot meandered and the conflict wasn’t as sharp as it should’ve been given the set up. Any resolution to the side plots - Jamil’s struggles with fame plus his brother’s addiction and Harper’s parents who want her to follow in their footsteps – felt anti-climatic compared to the way First Base handled Tommy and Maggie’s.
I also found it really infuriating that Jamil openly flirted with her in front while she’s trying to work with everyone around including other media. Given Harper is dealing with a men’s club and men promoted over her, why would he jeopardise her job? Also, why wasn’t Harper considering the optics of being seen with Jamil at the fundraiser given she’s supposed to be chasing a story about him? Harper didn’t come off as that great a journalist if she was heavily reliant on Jamil to organise and arrange interviews with his friends (and be seen with her at them! WTF? Isn’t he this massively famous sports star whom can barely leave his house?). While I appreciate it was a sweet gesture, it made her look unqualified for the promotion she was chasing if she couldn’t even be doing the leg work to network and get the interviews.
Enjoyable sports romance with low stakes but weak on plot development.
Thanks to Embla and NetGalley for the ARC.

This is a charming and sporty romance that hits all the right notes. The story follows a compelling protagonist navigating the complexities of love and baseball, set against a backdrop that feels authentically rendered. Wiegand balances the thrill of the game with heartfelt personal moments, making it a delightful read for anyone who enjoys a blend of sports and romance. The characters are well-developed, and the plot keeps you engaged from start to finish, ensuring a satisfying conclusion

Thank you for an early copy of this book

"You are the moon shining in the dark for me tonight."
After loving the first two books in the Chicago Heartbreakers series, I had high hopes for Triple Play—and it definitely delivered! Ally Wigand's writing continues to shine: easy to read, heartfelt, and filled with relatable characters navigating their own personal struggles alongside a growing romance.
I really enjoyed Jamie and Harper's story. Their chemistry and emotional journey were sweet and authentic. That said, Tommy still holds the top spot in my heart 🫣🫢—but that’s just a personal preference (I do love an open door romance!).
What I especially adore about this series is the consistent theme of found family. All three books beautifully showcase the deep bonds between characters, and the love and support they give each other feels so genuine.
A huge thank you to @allywigand and @netgalley for the ARC—I feel so lucky to be part of this journey! 👀 Now the real question… are we getting Derek and Olivia’s story next? Because I need it.
If you haven’t started the Chicago Heartbreakers series yet, now’s your chance! The first two are currently part of a 3 for £7 deal! 🙌
My Series Ratings So Far:
* First Base – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
* Going for Two – ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5

Harper and Jamil meet in Florida and have a one night stand thinking the will never meet again. Jamil is a baseball player and harper has a new job of being a field reporter. This story follows the lives of Harper and Jamil and their family. This book is heartwarming and a good sport romance. Thank you to the publisher and net galley for allowing me to read this

4 stars⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early copy of this book! I've absolutely loved this series and this one didn't disappoint at all! This one was really cute and I loved the characters

yes, yes and yes this book gave me everything and more that i wanted from it. despite not being all gung- ho into the level of worship some people have for sports i have recently really enjoyed some of the sports romances ive come across. and that is truly the skill of the authors. i dont like all that raging pack mentality that sports can bring so for these books to take me to it another way is really enjoyable.
this books gives us Harper and Jamil. Harper needs to work hard to work her way up to where she wants to be. when she gets the job as part of the field reporting for a certain mans team. that man is Jamil. he is a man at the top of his game and all that comes with that.
but what the pair dont know is they have met before. a few weeks ago they spent the night together. but Harper very very quickly left the scene. Harper knows she needs to have this reporting job as a win. so she needs not to think of Jamil. at all. but for Jamil she is all he can think about. it meant something to him. it meant alot. but with Jamil being all the media are talking about can this be a tragedy in waiting for the both of them?
this is such a brilliant read. the characters were all great. Jamil was fab and stole my heart. he was such a good egg. like all round nice guy both with love and love to do with his friends and family. and i liked how Harper had alot going on and is so full of should and musts that she struggled sometimes with alot in life not least making connections. but slowly we watched her keep trying. keep working at things is something not always shown well in books but Ally handled Harper's character growth really well.
gotta love this book. gotta love it alot.

4.5 ☆
"Crossing paths again . . . now that was more than just coincidence. Maybe it was divine intervention. Maybe it was a disaster waiting to happen. Whatever it was, the universe was throwing a major wrench in my five-year plan, and it could fuck off."
"Sometimes the deepest sorrows hid behind the happiest of smiles."
I received this ARC through netgalley and was definitely excited to read it I loved both the1st and 2nd book in the series and iv not read a baseball romance in a while so I was excited to start this. As someone who hates sports its a different ball game when it comes to books😂
Jamil was an absolute sweetheart a cinnamon roll through and through harper reminded me of lottie with her work ethics and it was nice to see her navigate her budding romance with work and building a friend circle. Overall I really enjoyed this and am definitely falling back into my sport romance era p.s. the moon nickname had me swooning

I've loved reading the Chicago Heartbreakers Series!
Thank you Netgalley for my eARC.
Harper (a sports reporter) and Jamil (MLB's hottest player) spend one night together where she sneaks out leaving him wanting more. They end up having to work together, to help her career and to keep aspects of his life out of the spotlight as much as possible. Tensions simmer at the forced proximity with lots of cheesy cute moments that are all in good nature.
It has a great balance of love and lightheartedness as well as tackling the big themes of addiction/found family/standing up for yourself all wrapped up in this one book.
Definitely recommend for anyone who loves Elle Kennedy, Helena Hunting or Sarah Adams.

i think that harper and jamil definitely had a lot of chemistry. i love that they found each other again and it ended up working out for them!
unfortunately this book fell flat for me. i really wanted to like it but it just didn’t do anything for me.
i didn’t care for any of the main characters and j thought that harper was insufferable the first few chapters.
there was absolutely nothing wrong with how the book was written, it just simply wasn’t for me.
thank you so much to embla books for the eARC.
